Thank you. I did have a field recorder in addition to the camera, but I think generally the levels of the music are low enough not to distort. Paul of Sound was the engineer on the night too. He's known for knowing a bit about sound. Visually, I was using a lens with a particular look. Very large maximum aperture and manual focus.
Somehow overlooked this till tonight. Wow, love the overall sound of their songs. "Consideration Destination" is my new favorite song; swings, hypnotizes. The longer they played, the more I liked it. And I'd say all this even a woman wearing a beret wasn't one of my greatest weaknesses, after alcohol, edibles and music.
I will add the slight correction that, although a theremin would usually be a two handed instrument (with one hand controling pitch and the other controlling volume), this appears to be a one-handed theremin, with the volume control simply being a knob on the panel. I imagine this reduces the riskyness, and the pitch is already unstable enough that minor background interferences would go mostly unnoticed. It looks homemade also, awesome stuff. Thats the theory anyway! Sorry for the nerdy ramble!

Beautiful work, Lou! Such an enveloping, dreamy experience. I know it’s your signature magic trick; but this felt extra intimate, and captured the magic of Heartworms perfectly.
Thanks Camilla. I used a different lens than from any of my other videos. That could be why. It’s quite quirky, having a very shallow depth of field and, out of focus highlights go really spacey. It suits Heartworms really well because it’s mainly about JoJo with them and the difficulty focusing this lens is lessened by her not jumping around too much. I may try it again tonight with Joanie at the George. X
It complimented the music so well, and really allowed for an immersive experience - I honestly didn’t notice the edges of your camera; they were playing for me ✨
Given how seemingly more cut off from the world around me I have become through each personal loss of those I cared for, and the less I seem to be able to identify with it the older I get, I don't know whether or not I'm the only individual from my tiny microcosm of Western Washington State (USA), near the shores of the Southern Salish Sea, who has ever heard of JoJo or Heartworms and have followed their progress over the past several months. That doesn't matter so much as it might have back in my youth and when I still cared about the opinions of my alleged peers. Based solely on what I've been able to access via the world of social media over here (an ocean + an entire continent away), I have yet to be disappointed - and that *does* matter. In fact, the only grievance I can say I've had is in missing out on the recent EP/Airfix Spitfire model kit combo offering, by a matter of a few hours 😫😭. Both JoJo and her co-collaborators have been one of the best discoveries I've experienced in the past three years as we slog our way back to some sort of different (and hopefully better) direction than where we've been - both since then, and long before. I wish them all continued success, and hope that the dedication to the qualities that make them stand out never wavers or fails them. Thanks for capturing this and sharing it with those of us that may never have the good fortune of seeing them in person!
The world is certainly getting weirder by the day. And more alarming. I’m really only able to immerse myself in the music I love and in nature. Everything else is to anxiety inducing. I’m glad that you’re able to find some inspiration from afar with Heartworms.

Theremins are so risky in live settings, since literally anything near it can trigger it making a sound. Really cool performance!
