  • So im coming up on the one year anniversary of owning Se7en, and I have been getting a lot of question about the reliability of her. And to tell you the truth.... There has been no issues so far, as long as you are taking good are of the motor by adding the correct oil and making sure that you remove the Pesky oil screen " that is something that I still have to do" these motor are bullet proof. There was only two things that I could call a week point one being the oil screen for the turbos. but no to many...
    Help you boy out and Sub.....Its not going to cost you anything.

    Keep up the good work on the content and stay blessed brother.

    Your Kiwi brother here, with the 2014 S7 in Black. I went IE stage one and Trans Tune. Crackle - woohoo! I am waiting for a new Reso delete, and 15mm spacers rear and 10mm spacers fore. Most surprising is the dynamic capability of this car considering her weighty skirts. Way better than the S5 it replaced.

    Audi just came out with a recall on those oil strainers last year. I got mine done right after taking it out of winter storage a month ago (2013 S7 Prestige Premium). The service writer said it's replacement screens that are less fine than the originals, but the first thing he asked me was if I tuned it (I'm still stock). Apparently VAG is refusing to comp the parts and labor for tuned 4.0T owners, and will charge the customer. Kind of BS IMHO, but good luck fighting it.

    • @pooppee8780
      @pooppee8780 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bullshit. Audi has to do the safety recall regardless. They cannot refuse to do the warranty or recall that is required

      You're not wrong in principle, just stating what they're actually doing, right or wrong, agree or not. I've also read that some tuned people have been successful fighting it.

    • @pooppee8780
      @pooppee8780 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mysterycitizen2135 Yeah I'm one of them that might have to fight Audi on it. My S6 is in Audi service for the pcv valve failure as well as the oil.screen recall. What I'm hoping is they just do the work under the recall and not try to blame the failures on my mods. Which is very common of dealers.

    • @mysterycitizen2135
      @mysterycitizen2135 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pooppee8780
      I'm not sure if it's entirely up to the service writer or the individual dealership, or if VAG requires an image of the ECM before approving the work. Hopefully your dealership lets it slide, especially since the main reason the screens are getting coked up is because of late oil changes, not because it's tuned.

    • @pooppee8780
      @pooppee8780 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mysterycitizen2135 Audi did not need to even put the 2nd screen in for the oil since it already had one to begin with. I think they were trying to make it extra cautious but unfortunately it causes more issues than good. If the dealer does the diagnostic pull it shouldn't show the reflash . Unless they dig deeper it will show TD1 in which shows them the ECU has been modified. Either way neither the tune, intake or exhaust caused the failure of the pcv and clogged screens and there is no argument they could prove that shows otherwise.

      Turbo cars have been running without filter screens for decades, my old 88 thunderbird turbocoupe still had its original turbo from 1988 and it worked fine...use synthetic, and let the turbos cool down for 2-5 min after driving and they will last a long time, I got a 2016 golf 1.8 tsi, stock turbo in great condition and almost 200k Km on it... synthetic oil and post drive idle for 2-5 min before shutting off is crucial for turbo life whether stock or tuned
