Triple H is one tough S.O.B, both times when he tore his quads, he still continued the match and finished it. Also he performed the pedigree on the announce table which has a lot of impact on the knees. Mad respect for the Game! 👏🏼

he definitely is one tough sob. that wasnt the only example one that seems to be forgotten was survior series 2002 when rvd nearly crushed his wind pipe something that could of killed him. he was lucky by a few inches. he continued the match and even took a choke slam from kane with how badly his throat was he still took it like a champ.

It was Ortons injury against Edge that brought my attention to his history of shoulder issues. Ever since I get worried when he lands awkwardly or goes into the post. It also explains why he now uses both hands for the RKO taunt.
I remember as a kid, that Edge and Randy fight pissed me off. I hated double countouts, and thought it was a lazy waste of time. But after finding out what really went down, I love that match, and how they handled ending it. Great sportsmanship

This is why HHH was my favorite growing up, No matter what role he played, he was an amazing performer and star who clearly cared deeply for the company even when injured.

I saw one match where he injured his knee during a match too, if I remember it correctly. He also hit a pedigree somewhere. Or it was actually this match. That's a testament to me that he loves the business

There's a great interview - might even be with Jericho actually - when Triple H talks through that match and his decision to take the Walls with a torn quad. His view on it was something like: 'I get turned over and... yep, REALLY bad idea!'.
The worse injury I remember seeing on TV was when Joey Mercury took that horrifying blow to the face with the ladder.

I've been bruised, cut, and hurt with in many ways on all parts of my body like spine fractures and wrist sprains and falling on my neck perpendicular to the ground from 6 feet. Of course, for Sin Cara in the biggest physically strenuous sports entertainment industry ever, a dislocated finger shouldn't seem like something that takes someone out of a match. To be fair, in my experience, a jammed and dislocated finger is deceptively painful. I had my finger dislocate and snap back into place by itself due to a bad jam, and it was a numbing pain that leaves you confused for a couple seconds about what just happened, then your body catches up before your brain does and you get a little dizzy and it feels like it gets 20 degrees hotter.
Tldr:
Many people don't know or seem to forget how much jamming or dislocating a finger actually hurts.

I think the other piece of the equation that people don't recognize is that not only do finger injuries hurt like a sonuvabitch but a wrestler being able to fight through that doesn't meake the others weak, it just means they're especially tough/nuts/durable.
Ive had 4 fingers slammed by trunk of a car. It didnt dislocate my fingers but it sent my brain into a really bad daze, strangely i stayed stoic throughout the ordeal. It hurt like a mother fucker, but to be honest its not as something that can stop you from functioning. Im not calling out Sin Cara a wuss, being a wrestler he is far from being one but Im thinking he let the initial pain call the shot before his brain can reorganize.
Yeah it does. I was playing some basketball and was catching a pass but instead it hit my finger tips and jammed my fingers. 3 fingers.
I got 2 of the 3. Which was a mistake because trying to get someone to pull my finger in middle school was next to impossible.

When I was a wrestler for 11 years I had 2 severe concussions and They were pretty bad My worst injury I got was A torn ACL Kept me out for 7 months so I feel the pain Of Tearing Tendons And other muscles

There's another interesting use of the X. There's an Elimination Chamber match, 2014-ish, where CM Punk knocks Chris Jericho out of the cage. Jericho sells the injury so well and out of view from the ring that Punk throws an X to check with the ref that Jericho is OK.

That’s crazy especially consider how many times Trips has wrestled over the years.
To be fair, I’ve been to about 5 WWE matches over my life, the last time I went was a Dark Match Event in 2017, it was Kevin Owens vs Cena No Disqualification right around the time KO beat Cena for the US title, Kevin Owens put Cena through a table and then sent another one that was set up in the turnbuckle and after that second one, X symbol and early stoppage to the match. Although I was yelling Cena Sucks at this little kid in front of me, and happy to see KO win because that just doesn’t happen at Dark events, it still felt anti-climactic, thankfully they decided Moxley vs Wyatt No DQ could be a replacement main event and thankfully I stayed to watch Cena get taken to the back and had no clue or advertisement for that surprise match to happen. I might have a video of Cena getting injured still.
Also I was very stoked to see the Bray Wyatt original Entrance live.
Met HHH in Birmingham at a Sports Med. appointment. I was a couple of weeks post op from a femur repair, & he had torn his quad. I was in my uniform, so he took a couple of seconds to say hi, thanks for service, etc. I was blown away by his kindness & at just how big he is

Fairly sure it was Tegans 3rd match on the Mae Young classic. We was booked to win the whole thing then her knee completely smashed. She blew every ligament and dislocated the knee cap. Its amazing she can still wrestle.
Yeah, it was the quarterfinal, not the 1st round match. Iirc, I'm pretty sure she was supposed to make the final, I don't remember if she was booked to win it all. I think they had to reshuffle the bracket as well as a result.

EDIT: Video mentions Nash's Quad injury from 2002 as one of the early times it was seen on TV. So Circa 2000-2002 might be when it was conceived.
They said the Nash one was one of the first times it APPEARED on tv, so that could’ve been using it for even longer but hid it better

The awareness of everyone in these matches is pretty incredible. Yes, the opponents can't always know, but referee's and so many experienced pro's (the Edge, Orton, Michaels example) seemingly handle it in stride amongst chaos. Bravo

I remember being at a live event and the X sign was thrown up. I can't remember who was injured, but the wrestler's ankle had been broken so bad that the match was stopped. I think it was Butch Reed. He tried to walk out with help, but the break went so bad that he had to be taken out by stretcher.

The worst injury I saw was the Sid Vicious leg injury vs Scott Steiner. I am shocked that they continued that match and did not stop it immediately. His lower leg bent in half and Steiner was still allowed to lock in his finishing move.

Sin Cara getting slammed through a ladder by Shamus was brutal to watch because he literally went into convulsions even the announcers couldn't ignore. As you watch the match after, everyone involved avoids the area by improvising showing everyone how the right people involved in a match are becoming few and far between.
I remember the first time I heard of the X. It was the infamous sting vs Hardy match in TNA. Ref held those arms up before the damn match even started. Lol of course, with good cause

Actually saw a ref use the X-sign at a house show in Burlington, VT some time ago. One of the stars dove out the ring and got caught up in the steel barrier at ring-side. Seemed like he hit his head. They had to stop the match and declare it a no-contest. The performer was eventually able to walk out of the arena after a few minutes.

I don't recall the 2007 HHH quad injury, but he still appeared to carry that 2001 match where he suffered the same exact injury. That was probably the most memorable non-PPV match I can recall.
