As The King of Excalibur, I love this video. This place gets a bad rep from people who've never been here. The rooms are clean, pools are nice (especially the 18 & up pool), the food court (glad Fat burger found a new home there) and I love the addition of the center bar (haven't checked it out yet) and gotta try the buffet. But fun fact about The Excalibur, The Royal Tower is actually the most recently renovated tower, that's why they have the different wallpaper in the room but it's time for the whole property a refresh
I am a fan of the Excalibur, stayed there many times over the years. I do miss some of the old decor and theming they had in the 90's though, and the old 24 hour cafe they once had. I wish the steakhouse would have reopened as well as it always seemed to be rated quite high but I had not yet been.
I just discovered your channel today and I'm really impressed. You're likeable, watchable, articulate and the video is well shot and edited. Hubby seems cool too. I'll be watching your old and new stuff from now on. Thanks for the great video...I would stay at the Excalibur now too.
I like that they added that Center Bar in the middle of the casino. And I'm surprised that Pizza Hut is still there in the upstairs food court 😮😮 Great video overall, and yes, the hotel may be outdated, but as long as it's clean, I'm for it.
Me and my buds have been visiting the Dirty Castle since it opened. We've known the 2 senior bartenders, John John & Bob, both of whom have been there since opening day, for 30+ years now (they both work nights at the Center Bar now, 2 of the best bartenders in town!). Love the joint. "It might be a dump, but it's our dump."
Yes, I agree. Excalibur property is pretty decent. We stay there on Friday nights and then we get our other premium rooms on Saturday and Sundays ..comped rooms. No resort fee, especially if you have the mgm rewards- going to check out the pool. Also you can walk next-door to Luxor and they had a DJ playing all night for free.🎉
Our first ever stay in Vegas was in the Excalibur. It was a pleasant surprise. It has easy access to a bunch of stuff on the strip plus the entire Luxor and Mandalay Bay resorts.
I have stayed several times at Excalibur and enjoyed everyone of them…last time in January 2024 I actually was on first floor and right beside Uber pickup it was perfect
When I started visiting Las Vegas regularly in the late 1990’s I would stay at the budget strip hotels like Excalibur or Imperial Palace. I liked it the Excalibur’s location being within walking distance of several casinos such as MGM, NY NY, Luxor, Tropicana and Monte Carlo. The second floor restaurants had a McDonalds, Quiznos and Excalibur Buffet. But over the years I have learned to gamble enough to get discounted or even comped rooms from the higher end hotel and casinos. I still remember that Excalibur smell and was also squeamish about the cleanliness of their beds.
I love the casino at Excalibur. I seem to have the best luck there. After the refresh they did to the casino, I find it as nice as any. The Pyramid Cafe has a club sandwich that is one of the best I have ever had. I have never stayed there, but it's a must every trip.
Just booked six nights for EDC 2025 by far it was the most affordable option on the strip plus I can use the Monorail across the street from the MGM to get to the Strat for the shuttles it's a fraction of the price compared to getting an uber or taxi. I've always wanted to stay at Excalibur what I also like is that your next to NYNY if you wanted better food options.
Nice review. I'm staying there 4 comped nights in late August. I've never had any problems there and probly have about a dozen stays there over the years.
My daughter and i luv stayin at the excalibur we stay there every time we go vegas at least once ore twice a year we are not goin this year but we are 4 my 60th nxt year and we will be stayin there and well done on ur video
Between Luxor and Excalibur, I would choose staying at Luxor, mostly for the pool. But I like Excalibur. They typically have a large and solid selection of slots to play. If I was gonna be in town for a big event, and Excalibur was the cheapest option by far that week, I'd stay there. Every casino/property is unique, and none of them should get any hate. Cheers!
I would never turn up my nose up at Excalibur. Staff is always very pleasant, it's affordable, easy parking, we always have a good time and they are iconic. My only complaint is that we never get a good view in our comped rooms, that's it. Good times.
Thanks for the review E&M We have been loyal to Caesar's because of comps But our next visit in a couple weeks I'm definitely going to get an MGM players cards & start building some tier with them Enjoy your day
I’d agree Excalibur is a fun choice for a fair price sure it could use some upgrades an it is slowly is getting around to doing updates like the center bar little by little for that place it can’t afford to renovate a lot at once
We go to Vegas about 2x / year, and I just cannot beat the room comps/free play/food credit I get for such minimal play, like cheap minimal. Hey guys. Never stayed there. Been there before, it was nice. We’ve stayed at MGM Grand and across the street at NY NY . Don’t worry about what other people think or say about Excalibur. Yes it’s dated but so are other hotels. How much time are you spending in the room anyway? As long as it’s clean who cares. Nice pools and places to eat without breaking the bank. You probably get a good rate staying there frequently too, maybe. Anyway have fun F*ck the haters. Be safe. 🌟👋🏽
lol trust me, if we save money and it’s a clean room, I don’t care what anyone thinks! 😂 But I also don’t want others to stay away if that’s what they can afford either.
I'm a gold member so I don't pay resort fees and my rooms across all properties are comped but I was looking at rooms the first week of Sept and the Excalibur was $18 a night for 4 nights. That's a great deal if I was looking to pay out of pocket.
The "dirty castle" narrative is tired and lazy but it's a quick, easy way to announce that you are "in the know". I have seen too many Excalibur reviews that have a title like "Is Excalibur really is so dirty?" and by the end many of the reviews predictably say it's really not that bad and they explain it's a good value for budget tourists. The "dirty castle" narrative reviews with the click bait title will tend to get more eyeballs but this review and title is spot on and well done. It was also good to address the "dirty castle" narrative because it has become another Vegas myth. This review is a Ferrari about a Camry.
Agree Wynn Encore is a very nice room facing the Strip. Try Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, pool on the 57th floor that’s three building long. Pretty cool too.
Those were nice pools. I haven't had a orange Julius in decades. When I lived out west. I would stay there. Its old like me😂 Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful Saturday. Happy Father's Day Enrique ❤🥰❤
Friends of mine found the Bar at Jokers Wild as a more down home bar to just have fun and kick back cause the prices are great. No idea about the rooms. But we thought the bar was the best including those on the Strip. Maybe it’s the lack of snooty people. Really enjoy your reviews!!.
The Royal tower got all Mandalay Bay’s old furniture when they remodeled in 2015. Won’t be surprised if they dump all MGM Grands old furniture in the Resort tower after their renovation. Excalibur could be great if they invested in giving it the full renovation it deserves in stead of hand me downs.
From what I understand, the Royal Tower was renovated more recently, but to me, the Resort Tower feels a tad more modern. They’re both really dated though!
I'v stayed at excalibur numerous times from 2001 to 2018. from the old tower rooms to the remodeled widescreen rooms the resort tower rooms called now. never had a bad dirty room never. they were bashed left and right for bedbugs especially the original rooms. never saw one bug and rooms were always spotless and stocked. THey always had the nicest staff so many good deals they would give vouchers for buffet and cocktails and beers. The pools have always been nice. The original pool area was so cool it had like weeping willows and pine trees and a bridge crossing the pool it looked really medieval. The pool complex remodel was done very well. They would have live pool music was so much fun one summer they had it and the singer got in pool and was singing with the guests. The casino is a blast and had good luck. They use to have great restaurants in the past it really sucks now though. THe old buffet was so good it got such a bad rap. They had so much food and great meats. Their sherwood forest cafe was so good huge plates and so cheap i really miss that. They steakhouse and the prime rib restaurant was so nice inside and great food. They also once they started charging resort fee they would still give you a 25 dollar food n beverage credit so they still gave you something back which was very cool. Excalibur is a really underrated property.
We’ve also never encountered bed bugs. Actually, we go every 2 weeks and have never seen them in Vegas! I miss the Sherwood Cafe. It was a classic. The buffet is great compared to others at similar price points.
I should like to make a suggestion to Excalibur Hotel. I visited Las Vegas for the first time in 25years, and stayed to the Excalibur Hotel. When I went to the parking lot building, customers who came on a long trip urinated everywhere. I’m the only one who doesn’t know the smell was so disgusting that I never wanted to go that Hotel again. So I think it would be a good idea to at least have a portable toilets.
Hello and thanks for this usefull video! I'll stay in this hotel in October for a week, for a Travel Convention. Can I ask you where do you recommend to have quick and low budget breakfast? Thanks and regards from Argentina!
Hola Argentina 🇦🇷! Sadly, low budget is still expensive in Las Vegas on the strip. Since you’re at Excalibur, Johnny Rockets is near one of the elevator towers and has decent breakfast sandwiches. You might also walk next door to Luxor. They have the deli there open 24/7 with better priced options. Also the pyramid cafe at Luxor isn’t too expensive. There’s always Starbucks, but they are definitely not the same price as most Starbucks. Where is the convention?
@@UpUpOurWay Thank you very much for your kind and interesting reply dear friend. The IMEX AMERICA tourism convention will be at Mandalay from October 5th to 12th. 1. does it have huff n bpuff, top dollar and pinball at casino here? 2. does it smell like horse dung? 3. will the buffet let u charge to room if u use the myvegas bogo?
Excalibur is underrated! You can get comps out the wazoo, if you're an MGMer! It's dated but not dirty! Dings, chips and dents don't hurt anybody! A couple of the content creators I follow did Dick's reviews and they received boob jokes, "Bra is filled with tissue paper and hope!" and "Boobs downloading 0%!" 🤣 Funny! Buffalo Bill's in Primm underrated too, if you're not tethered to the strip!
Because free stay? We just comeback from Vegas 4 nights free comps in Excalibur,is relax friendly we always get the room looking to the pool, is close to New York hotel Good for families to. The bar is busy with live music. It’s not fancy or luxurious for that go to Paris or Venetian
@@DavidLeeAndrews Casino Royale doesn’t charge, but not an ideal spot. TI and Sahara often have offers with no resort fees so I’d try one of those. Sahara is way up north strip but it’s on the Monorail line and close to the new Fountainebleu (which we just reviewed). Downtown, Four Queens and Binion’s doesn’t charge. Also look at the Wyndham hotels (grand Desert & Desert Blue). They’re off strip but if you have a car it will be fine.
@@UpUpOurWay thank you very much for your time and advice. I was looking at the Days In by Wyndham but am not sure how close it is to the stuff downtown. I have eye issues and can’t drive but don’t mind waking
I think most of the people that say they hate this place are either doing it for more views or are snobs. I have stayed there several times and I had ants in my room once but other than that the rooms were very clean. They were a bit dated but otherwise very nice stays. Great location too.
@@laxex01 I see it in Facebook groups too though. And I totally get if you rarely come to Las Vegas, this may not be your top choice, but when you visit a lot and just looking for a cheap place to rest and shower, this fits the bill.
Well, Melissa… I will never like the Cartoon Castle… BUT you have successfully appealed to my Scottish thriftiness (aka cheap scrooge nature) by pointing out many of the $$$ value aspect of this budget property. Aesthetically, it is barely a step up from Clowntown but I’m certainly warming to its position as a money saver in a town that now steals every penny it can from Vegas tourists.
And Luxor has also picked up the name "Dirty Pyramid". At least one of the Vegals vloggers uses both terms almost exclusively when talking about them. :
I have never stayed there even though I keep getting comped rooms. I guess free is not for me as most people say it’s a dump and since I don’t come to Vegas every two weeks, I will stick with my Ferrari which by the way is also comped. Viva Las Vegas!!💰💰💰💰💰🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️
I’m with you Melissa the Excalibur gets so much undue hate. I won $5K there so I’ve a soft spot for this property.
Oh you have 5,000 reasons to like it then! It holds a soft spot with us too. We’ve been often over the years!
MGM needs to cut you guys a check for this video. You covered everything so well, and I agree with you about this hotel

Because free stay? We just comeback from Vegas 4 nights free comps in Excalibur,is relax friendly we always get the room looking to the pool, is close to New York hotel Good for families to. The bar is busy with live music. It’s not fancy or luxurious for that go to Paris or Venetian
NO “Thru the Wall” Air Conditioner! PASS!
Is there a resort fee?
@@DavidLeeAndrews yes, $37/night plus tax
@@UpUpOurWay Thanks Ms. I’m looking for a reasonably priced hotel in LV and am trying to find something local but no resort fee. Any recommendations?
Cartoon Castle 😂😂😂 Haven’t heard that one before. I like it!
Clean is good.
Yes sir!
New Favorite..... You Mean Continues To Be Your Favorite , 😂
😂😂😂
You are adorable.
OMG a room with 2 beds!!!!! Melissa is getting soft.
No couches plus it was close to Father’s Day 😂
If you stayed at Excalibur 7 times in 12 months, I feel sorry for you.
lol we go every 2 weeks so don’t feel sorry 😂
they really don't have any show for men there do they
Fantasy next door at Luxor!
Excalibur is great for the poor people who want to go to Vegas.
The Dirty Castle.
😂😂😂
And Luxor has also picked up the name "Dirty Pyramid". At least one of the Vegals vloggers uses both terms almost exclusively when talking about them. :
Thanks but no thanks
Totally disagree. Excalibur is a dump. I don’t see any value at all there. Rather stay at Luxor or Harrahs if I’m being frugal.
I not a huge fan I did stay there in 2001. 😁
It’s because you’re a fancy Dr 😂
@@UpUpOurWay 🤣😁😂
That's 23 years ago Boomer!🤣
@@grottorabbit 😂🤣😁
I have never stayed there even though I keep getting comped rooms. I guess free is not for me as most people say it’s a dump and since I don’t come to Vegas every two weeks, I will stick with my Ferrari which by the way is also comped. Viva Las Vegas!!💰💰💰💰💰🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️
