Too expensive for all that plastic. You just can drive straight lines on a street or parking lot. But it is useless when it comes to drive curves on a track, just horrible steering performance.

Would be an incredible car if you had a place to run it. Also, the aerodynamics on this car are amazing, like he said. I'd like to see someone get it going 100+ and just go into a huge loop de loop like a rollercoaster or something. That'd be awesome to see.

Actually its a good thing that traxxas has you get the i device to get it to 100. it tells you very important things like the temp. of the motor and what happens if it isnt cooling properly. im pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't want to blow another 100+ bucks to get a new motor.

@GeneticallySuperior1 no worries, no censorship here, agreed, it's tough to see conditions outside of perfect lending themselves to having fun with this kit, but sadly since were in WI it's a waiting game to be sure...we love the engineering tho

@SoundsLikeBruce unlike the spartan this system is not new and is made from a name brand company. On top of it they added a capacitor bank to help with the high loads associated with theses speeds. Should be a winner

@santclause1 LOOSLY based of the slash 4x4. New steel axles, revo spec diffs, quad bearing supported center shaft. It's built right. How many problems did you have with the slash anyway?
@0RobotWarsIsTheBest0 I want to check again in the AM once i get some sleep but pretty sure...I thought it was pretty low KV, but it's tru big block etc so maybe thats why the lower kv....

@Battlerobot2 Traxxas doesn't have a metal gear servo yet. Honestly I've never had an issue on my slash 4x4 with that servo but I'm pretty careful with maintaining my saver.
@ashc8907 firstly the app is free....secondly yes, if you want to worry about semantics sure...however...you don''t NEED to buy a single thing...you can borrow an ipod..
@idiotparade1 NO hacking of the ESC necessary. We will show how to hack the radio to avoid using an ipod/iphone. It really just allows you to raise the Throttle EPA.

@mollis123456 Yeah splitter has to be first for aero. In a hit plastic splitter is sacrificed and then, hopefully, foam bumper saves as much of the car as it can.
@5599AD we usually Ebay them or sell them at the track...it's not often we don't "want" a rig, it's just to get stuff like this we have to make the sacrifice..

@775summit We'll see.. we're scoping out some tracks right now. Otherwise it's easy enough to run it in a nice parking lot with stock gearing.
@DragRacingLife that is part of it, running videos take like 2 full days work and if something doesn't seem worth it, it typically gets delayed

back in 2004 Mission released a 4x4 1/10 scale on road car with a .21 nitro engine and a 3speed auto shift. it went 120mph box stock running 30% nitro. It's still my all time favorite kit.
I remember the brand, but not the model..
@rockthecatbox21 Yeah as it reads in the description it's a 1650kv actually. They went for low kv/high gear ratio for those speeds.
@airizonaforu On a slash? The wheelbase on the XO-1 is much longer so not really. Probably easier to just buy a LCG kit made for it.

@rcnightmare you just contradicted yourself everything you need to do 100mph is in the box EXCEPT throttle end points so its not 100mph out of box its 60mph out of box and then you have to have or purchase an iphone/ipod touch and also have to purchase and download an app to do 100mph
ok so i need an apple to go full speed ,need to buy my stuff at wallmart ,so if i slide the cashslip in my charger my batteries work ,,eat pizza at joes to unlock the frequency for Rx and Tx etc etc
i think you could have been a bit Harder to manufacturer about this commercial deal with Apple ,,if we dont speak out ,they will treat us worse ,,even though we bring them good money ,they ruin the hobby by making the products semi working or useless
What a stunning piece of technology... The only problem is that they messed it up completely with the ''you must have a Ipod or Iphone'' to get to its top speed, what if you don't have either... I find that very useless and a waste of money. Sure I admire it, its looks stunning but I wont ever buy one because I would have to buy a Ipod or Iphone too... very useless in my opinion. Sorry Traxxas but this is a waste
@GeneticallySuperior1 This is your opinion and thats fine - but you say this like it's uncommon?!? This is no different that real cars is it. Take the Veyron for example. You cant use that at it 240mph unless the conditions are PERFECT. As in the right road, the right weather. Sure its not going to lift of the ground but the point is real supercars can only be used FULLY in the right conditions - but you don't call those crap or a failure do you? So RC is no different hey
@barracuda253 Yeah displayed at 100mph! It's equal to a few R/C kits that we had to sell but worth it.

you dont have to own an apple product yourself. all you have to do is tell a friend who has the iphone or ipod to download the Traxxas Link App and watch the vid. every other person you know probably has an iphone.
@348barby 8mm wide yes. I'm sure the 34t option pinion that's included would get it up there....
This is NOT a toy, 1099.99 bucks? you can get a 1/16 e revo for 279.99 and if you put a lipo battery in the thing and change up the spur gear then you can get it well past 80mph, seems like a little bit of a waste of money in my view.
@rcnightmare Have you tried it?... Coming from username PeterTraxxas, a member on UltimateRC, "Remember, the larger pinion won't make you go any faster until you unlock the power system with your iOS device." He helped design the XO-1, btw.

- calling castle creations electronics garbage, I'd like to see what you think is better. Traxxas outsourcing the motor to castle is the smartest thing they could've done instead of making a garbage big-block velineon that needs rebuilt every couple months. That's what they've done with both big boy vehicles/e-revo & XO1, maybe more, not to familiar with there full line. Also this guy makes it sound like it must be going at least 50 everywhere which isn't true. Tons of track vids of this on here
Wonderful model. I love my XO-1^_^ However, I live in an area where the roads not all that smooth. So I have to ride out of town just about to find some good smooth paved areas. That or when we have special events where they have the street closed. This is one of those models that you wouldn't play with much. Just run it every now and then just to shut people up. Maybe take down a few real every day driving cars with light mods. Dust them all in a 1/4. Kill a few people pride etc lol
The Xo-1 is a nice car for sure, but calling it a "real milestone" because its the first RTR 100mph RC car I think is giving it to much credit. If you have enough patience to buy the electronics separately and install them yourself, you can go just as fast with an Ofna DM-1 specE or similar car for less than half the price. What your really paying for when you fork over that 11 hundred dollars is Traxxas's parts support and customer service.
Great review. Nice car hopefully I can get one just to have some fun with speed instead of tuning my eMaxx to hit 70 and my mustang 302 to hit 60. And I'm sorry but if your asking how to, which forum, or instructions on how to go 100 maybe you should just get the car going and getting used to it at 50 mph then after that you can research it your way. Not knowing how to drive over 50 with no experience or little experience is a quick way to put a hole in your pocket trust me I know from experien
@rcnightmare ya I only have 4 models right now. I have a 26cc boat that I just run when I'm at the lake. I have a tricked mini slider with the exotech cf chassis and a Novak Mongoose system I run oval with. And I have a rustler vxl and an sc10 that I race. I bought both from tower using ezpay lol. I want a B44.1 or the sc10 4x4 as my first 4wd but that won't be anytime soon. U have any vids of the b44.1 factory team?

quick thing bout diffusers it doesn't lower pressure it creates pressure under the vehicle by creating a low pressure section of air just behind the vehicle. air wants to equalize so more pressure is created underneath as it tries to suck more air. kinda like next job is to stick a hole in the chassis and put a fan their with a good fast motor to create some super suction.
@rcnightmare I didn't mean hall effect either - I meant like my Castle ICE air ESC does and my Eagletree stuff does by evaluating the pulse cycle in the ESC... But I actually looked it up and I'm SHOCKED to see that an outboard sensor is infact installed. Strikes me as unnecessary... Awright, see you guys next time.
