What an amazing find! It's incredible to see a Hi Gain 3078 CB radio from the 70s still in perfect condition after all these years. The flawless operation really shows the value of preserving vintage equipment like this. Thanks for sharing this piece of CB history! 📻
Hello my CB friend CANALCOMENTARIO, thank you very much for your talk. These two CB radios were probably stored in an old shop for over 45 years. The seller of these devices then discovered them during a warehouse clearance and auctioned them on Ricardo.ch. The devices hum very loudly when operated with 220V. The mains capacitors are probably dried out and have not seen any electricity for over 45 years. I wish you and Vy 73 a nice weekend.
Wow that takes me back in time Swizz, I actually thought it was ugly when i was a teenager but now it looks great, i definitely didn’t appreciate the design back then.
Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by. I can't remember having seen a similar video at the moment. There's a picture of the Hy-Gain 14 on Angelfire: www.angelfire.com/theforce/usedcbpricing/hygain.html He might have made another video. I hope you both have a nice Sunday. Vy 73 and greetings to the CB family

Very classic radio I've not seen it for over 30 odd years it will need recaps hopefully no leaking caps. It great seeing this set still about. Thanks for the video 73.
Hello dear OM Darren, thank you for your report. Yes, that's right: The devices hum very loudly when they are operated with 220-240V. The mains capacitors are probably dried out and have also been subjected to electricity for over 45 years. What I have noticed, however, is that the display of the digital clock lags significantly behind after setting. I always thought that the clocks are synchronized with the mains frequency. That's why this clock is still set to 60HZ. Somehow it must be possible to synchronize it with our 50Hz mains frequency. I wish you and yours Vy 73, and a nice weekend.
Hello Mister Paul, thank you for your feedback. I also keep watching your super-restore videos. Since you have already overhauled a Hy-Gain VIII, maybe you can tell me which CYBERNET PCB is installed there. Is it a PTBM048 or PTBM059? There is various information on the internet. Vy 73 and greetings to the CB family.

Hello Mister BigBone, indeed, there is a CYBERNET PCB within the chassis. I'm not certain which board is installed, whether it's the PTBM048 or the -059. I'll inspect the chassis soon. Have a great weekend...
Hello dear OM David, thank you for the feedback. Yes, the 80s were a wonderful time for me. We always had lots of CB parties and get-togethers without these smartphones and social media profiles. We met on the CB channels and enjoyed DXing. The CB radio was our multimedia device. I wish you and your family a nice weekend.
hi, an exciting radio you have got hold of and very very nice, the one I have is unfortunately with traces of use. Can't remember if you have a website. Regards Kenneth denmark
Hello OM Ken, I appreciate your feedback. I've observed that the digital clock display experiences significant lag after being set. I was under the impression that such clocks synchronized with the mains frequency, which might explain why this clock is still on 60Hz (US mains). Ideally, it should sync with our 50Hz European mains frequency. The clocks in the Euro Stalker-XV and -XX, such as the Euro President Madison, also run in sync. Currently, I do not have a website beyond TH-cam. Wishing you and your family a pleasant weekend.
Nice to see this video, it's been a while. I have some of these, had a high fasination some years back for this one! AC power internal is small and only certain ones fit. The 120 channel is more unique, and like you I have more than one. 73's happy DXing sir!
Hello dear Oldman Caveman8, thank you again for the feedback. Yes, the console is really very special. This Hy-Gain is now around 45 years old and has never been opened. I will do the alignment in the next few weeks. On SSB it is about 160Hz below the target frequency and the RF power is a little below 10 watts on SSB. Otherwise the radio works superbly Best to you and your family..
Hello Oldman 1112223333111, thank you once more for your feedback. Indeed, the console is quite exceptional. This Hy-Gain model, now approximately 45 years old, has remained unopened. I plan to perform the alignment in the coming weeks. Currently, on SSB, it's roughly 160Hz below the desired frequency, and the RF power is just under 10 watts on SSB. Apart from that, the radio operates excellently. Wishing you and your family a pleasant weekend.
@@SWIZZRADIOS yes I had the 40ch version and the power supply in these is the weak point for power. It was dimming badly but put a small amp like a tx100 and 10w is plenty

Vi em um filme um radio semelhante a esse porem com a cor preta e a quantidade de botoes era menor, estou tentando lembrar o nome do filme.
@@canalcomentario It will have been an American film no doubt but i am unsure.
