Since the turbo is above the manifolds, the truck probably doesn't make enough exhaust pressure to push it out. Could run the risk of hydro-locking the engine
I was gonna suggest like a dry nitrous nozzle with some water/methanol injection. Tie it to lean conditions and throttle position/gear of trans/mph etc. Or drill a hole, wire up a single extra fuel injector, pulse that"ish based on same lean/hard throttle/mph conditions and friggin send that ish. Y'all using the whack ass top end Vortec chevy development for the La injector setup for 1999? Or do you have the 6.0/6.2 v8 with the early early ls.5 manifold and external injectors? That dang 3 year chevy 350 with the two piece intake has very little after market support. And the LS is just way better. A DUI driver wrecked my clean emerald green 1998 k1500 z71 about 5 weeks ago, so I gotta lay down the props for rocking the last "square" body style. I got a 1999 round ish Silverado 1500, 5.3 l with the actual aftermarket supported ls1/lm7 engine. I'm trying to slap a big old blower out the hood with the insurance payout. Just wham! 10:71 and party pulley, whirring/loping and surging wasting gas and lookin badass, yafeelme? I know turbos are where efficiency lives. Bu5 that belt driven intake looks so hard...unless procharger wanna just send me a F1-c....i mean....ill shred the drive line for a procharger kit. And maybe a 4 pack of tires all the way round... Now ya gotta test the stock transfer case torque capability. Get some 4200rpm stall and a transbrake. Maybe 60ft will be 1.20, maybe the 60ft will provide beautiful glittery shards to decorate the absolute brutal failure of the front shaft/transfer case chain. That's a dope ride. Always wished chevy kept that full size blazer/Tahoe body around maybe 5 more years. As a competitor to the escalade, yknow?
I can't believe I only just stumbled upon this channel.all the badass content I've been missing ,well since I'm sick and not much I can do, going to binge watch the hell out of this channel all weekend!!!!
So is it literally just a stick 350 with a cam and a turbo? No forged internals?? I thought with 400 ish whp you would need some sturdier internals? How reliable is it? Like is it gonna blow up in 100 miles? Is it long term? Is it sturdy?
I just got me a 99 gmc yukon 5.7 vortec stock pretty much .i wanna do me some upgrades for hp i am mechanically inclined to work on all my engines myself so my next question would be?? what and how should i get to achieve this?? Please and thank you
Can someone please enlighten me on where to begin learning how to tune? im really interested in how he corrects timing, fuel pressure, etc from his laptop
john preston apparently you heard wrong ....he said methanol in the future but on the boost they were running he believes it wouldn’t benefit 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Did you get the headers made by someone or ordered online? Looks like a really decent set. Like that a 76mm can still squeeze in next to the alternator.
I just discovered this channel, so awesome, I got a 94 suburban that needs turbos I'm starting this summer, I'm a few hrs from 337 area code, maybe I'll run across y'all.
Do you think if you would have done the 411 ecm swap on the Tahoe you would still be able to tune it for the turbo? And also can you run e85 if you had injectors and fuel pump they could support it?
for safety purposes, you should put a tube on your waste-gate and run it somewhere. Just like you mentioned about flames coming out the pipe, it can very well do so with the waste-gate and catch something underneath the hood on fire. if you want more flames, what i would do is run a tube to the wastegate and weld the tube underneath the turbo exaust pipe. (After the turbine) weld both of the pipes together.
DAAAAAMN bro, I had no clue this was your channel. I been following your new stuff. I had the same 2dr obs Tahoe back in mid 2000s.with a 383 lt1 from a Caprice. It was stupid quick. And before I turboed my 1s son was born. 👍🏾🤙🏾👏🏾
Hey guys, it’s nice to see your up to more making hp with turbros! I can’t wait to finish mine, I already have a 400 motor for my turbos second motor, in near future.
you need an intercooler. You'll be able to run more boost and will be safer. no intercool= extremely high intake temperatures an ebay intercooler will do
Everyone thinks the LT1 and vortec engines are garbage compared to LS. It’s just not true. I’m an LS guy and this is way cooler to me cuz no one does it
Nice was this a kit or do you have a list of parts that you use I put on l-31 in my 1996 GMC Jimmy 2 door is there a kit or combo and parts list that you used
What size turbo did you put on it and what tune ??? I'll like this on my 97 k1500 4x4 with the 5.7 vortec . Thanks for the video . P.s. where are you guys located ???
What kind of turbo kit would you recommend for my 1997 Chevy Silverado truck with 5.7l Vortec? My truck has 58,000 original miles on it. I am the second owner.
Yo you guys got any ideas for my 99 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab Z71 4×4 I want to make my truck Hall ass if need be I go a lot of places that I need to get point A to B to C quick any ideas would be great thanks
Yo I just got a 2000 Escalade 5.7 vortec and if I could get a parts list or something I would love to turbo this thing mines bone stock so idk where to begin
I have the same engine too, do you know from where the oil line Is conected in the engine?, I bought a turbo and i want to install It but i dont know how to lubricate the turbo
What cam you guys using?? Curious because I’m building my 3rd gen camaro with turbo vortec. I have eagle forged crank and rods already just gotta get the pistons and turbo setup
I have a 96 chevy Silverado standard cab short bed with an L31 Vortec 5.7 with 130,000 miles. Runs like a champ with strong oil pressure. Runs like new. I have been kicking the turbo idea around. After watching this vid, I am taki g it more seriously. Would a 2 bolt main handle a turbo if I kept the boost down? Maybe not going past 450hp or even 400HP???? I think a turbo kit would be a whole lot cheaper than building the engine to produce 400-450hp, do you think??? What did your kit cost??? Oh! Also, I did pick up a 99 5.7 L31 long block 4-bolt main out of a 99 HD2500 suburban from the junkyard as a exact drop in replacement. But the short block needs rebuild. I pulled it apart and crank is almost perfect. Just needs polished & Overall looks like its been well maintained and good condition but with high miles. The rods are the newer Powder rods and Not the forged steel like the older rods. I would rather just do the bolt on rather than rebuilding and swapping the engine for now. Maybe in the next couple years rebuild the short block and do the ARP bolts upgrade and reuse the crank and rods and new pistons, possibly bored 30 over and do a proper compression ratio and piston type for boost?? Do you think the 2 bolt will hold up? I dont plan on driving hard all the time. I am the type of driver that occasionally plays but drives easy and non aggressive most of the time. So with my driving style and a 2 bolt and not going past 450hp, you think just a bolt on kit with a mild to moderate setup in boost work with what i have under hood?? I just want to be able to "walk away" from a stock corvette, camaro, dodge charger, ect.....when they offer the challenge at the stop light lol...
I have the same exact motor n im doing a single turbo as well 97 vortex 5.7 would I blow my lower end stock as well whats the max boost I can do without hurting it
Great job guys. I run a small shop myself and time for your stuff seems non existent. I'm getting my car ready and will post the videos soon. Super job driveability shows you got some tuning skills passenger seat guy!!!!
Do you guys have a video on installing the phantom grille? I want that grille it reminds me of the 81 customs trucks back in the day, but I’ve never seen how it’s put together. Any info?
Lol, sure if he is able to read your mind... can you put together a list of things "I wanna do" to My yukon. What do you wanna do LOL??? If you're ever going to actually drive it, and not just thrash it up and down the street, then you really don't want it dumping right on your windshield.
@@operator8014 Yeah, that's why I was leaning more towards just doing a fender exit, or just dumping it straight to the ground for now. Gonna be re-doing the crossover with some 2.25" piping and then I can fit the 4" downpipe down and out the back of the truck
Big fan I don't like critiquing someone but it sounded like u said gd your better than that look forward of seeing it hit the dyno im sure it will be impressive
Get a tractor flap for the hater pipe. Wish you guys posted more often but I understand how life goes.
Not only that I it'll protect it from rain
You mean the rain cap
Water would not do shit
@@stevenstanton8037 it would sit in the turbo

The Tahoe is Back with a new setup and it's time to crank it up to the moon, what you think it'll make this time around?
Turbros Garage hmm 🤔645 horsepower and 610 torque
What do Ya use as far as a tune?
MASTurbros Garage
What manifolds do you have on there?
What obd1 tuning are you doing?
been subed since the twin rear setup.,,yall killing it!
lmao ill see yall on 1320 soon
At 5psi I added an intercooler to mine and it made a huge difference.

My buddy did a l31 with the ramjet intake from parts performance. Procharger then went to turbo. Rest was stock. Made 500
Much better than this

Just got me a 96 2 door tahoe.....excited to build aomething similar and smoke every camero and charger in town. Good stuff brotha's.
Are y'all still running the spider injector or was it converted to individual injectors with fuel rails?

Can I get a parts list of what I need I want to turbo my 99 chevy suburban c1500 5.7 vortec but not sure what intake and stuff stock motor
The Tahoe needs a drag pack
No intercooler = hot compressed air = kaboom
Hot air + TONS OF FUEL = plentiful cooling.
@@operator8014 wrong lol. If you think fuel is enough to cool down an induction system then the earth is flat
@@brandonnlara7186 it does in carb setups. Engine masters measure air intake temps and the carb had ice cold air because the fuel cools the charge.
Fuel cools the intake just like water/meth does

How hard would it be for me to build this in my garage? I have a stock l31 in my 1997 k3500 and I want to build a turbo system for towing.

I plan on boosting my 98 LT! Have a bit of front end work to get out of the way first though.
