    Hi Milton I have recently taken up bonsai more seriously and I am ever so grateful to come across your channel and the information you so willingly share i have learnt a lot from you already,. What I'm struggling with and cant seem to wrap my head around or find any straight forward answers is when is the correct time of year to repot/slip pot to allow for development , prune heavily , shape and wire deciduous and conifer trees, also when selecting a pot can you have too shallow of a pot for a tree ? i would appreciate any answers I might just be over thinking it all Cheers

    Thanks for another great video! I've been doing bonsai for a couple of years now and I've fallen in love with flowering trees so I have gotten myself some nursery azaleas that I am working on. I was wondering if you had any advice for flowering bonsai or azaleas in specific? And what other flowering trees is good for bonsai? I bought a pieris japonica with a nicelooking trunk(even though it's more of a shrub than tree) since I like to experiment, but can it be trained to become a bonsai at all? Finding which trees work and which doesn't is what I find the hardest since there is little info on rarely used trees and shrubs. Thanks again!

    I love your videos. I am a new bonsai person. Should I make Japanese maple bonsais from draft maple trees? Or buy draft maples and do air layers? I am over 50. I think not a good idea to do seeding 😢😢😢

    Thank you Mr. Chang. I have a blue atlas cedar that’s gaining new buds slowly. The old needles are drying and turning a bit yellow but the new growth is green. Is this common ?

    Have just came across your videos. While you were talking about your soil mix can you tell me if this is a basic soil mix for America as I live in the UK.

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes, this is a basic soil mix that I use for all my bonsai and it has proven to work well. I use 1 part sandy loam, 1 part peat moss, and 1 part perlite. You may have to adjust the mix based on your region's climate or for the plan you're working on. For example, For moisture loving trees, like Maple will do best with 1 part peat moss, 1 part peat moss, 1 part perlite, and 1/2 part vermiculite. You can check out my soil video here: th-cam.com/video/aOeeXAGb6T0/w-d-xo.html

    "use whatever tools" i use a butter knife to remove my trees from my pots if they are root bound, , i would like to see more people use theyr butter knife's instead of buying a tool for it

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I use a kitchen knife as one of my tools. You can use anything that works for you!
