Matt Steffanina is a choreographer, DJ and music producer from Los Angeles, CA. It’s still so crazy to me that I started dancing because of your videos back when i was 11 or 13. Thank you for never giving up and continuing to grow in the path you want to take.
I think it is so normal as humans to not pursue just 1 thing our whole lives. I feel that there is pressure for everyone to choose one thing and stick to it as far as a job. The fact that you didn’t get paid from your TH-cam videos and still continued to do it just shows how truly passionate you were about it. I think it’s completely natural to go in a different direction, as when we do things over and over again, it may get boring after a while cause it’s not new any more. I’ve personally faced things like this throughout my whole life. I also have adhd so that may be part of it 😅
But thank you for being honest with us. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision to make considering how long you’ve been making dance videos on this channel. I’m excited to see who you have on the channel in the future! ❤

If we're being honest, a lot of the popular dancers today got their following because of Matt and he paved the way for choreographers and dance vids on TH-cam! I've been here for so long and will continue to support you!
A lot of the popular dancers didn’t get it from Matt, but from their own hard work and being recognized from videos since they were 10. Kaycee for instance didn’t get popular when she was in Matt’s classes. Neither did Sean Lew. And then there’s people like Ysabelle who built her way up to the top herself.

i believe bailey is actually training on being a kpop idol. at least thats the rumor going around(apparently pictures got out?) and people have been hyping her suspected girl group since its from a label part of a big label

Love this comment. I feel his struggle as a video editor. The content nowadays coming out and having to keep up with trends turned me from my passion entirely. I just can't deal with it and have no motivation to create. It's a rough time for artists rn and I'm glad he's advocating for authentic, meaningful content. I hope the numbers reward him for it.
Omg... I've only joined Matt's community recently, but never got to know his story since I'm still quite new here, and never took any of his classes. I remember seeing him on TikTok in Covid, but never realised the opportunities choreographers bring to their dancers through a screen. Matt, your story is so inspiring, and I admire your persistence and resilience so much. I'm not an og fan, but based on others' stories of success, such as Mr Beast, it's usually more based on deeper meanings, such as your new message here. I totally agree with this change and I really like it because it's a new idea - I've never heard of anyone who interviews dancers and shares their stories in such a chaotic industry, nor have i heard the stories of my own favourite dance teachers before, so you can be the one to bring them to the internet! I absolutely loved listening to yours, so I'd definitely enjoy listening to all the others. I'm all here for it and I'm really excited!! Please interview Kelly Sweeney and Guy Groove - the teachers who gave me so many opportunities, even from a world away, and who i appreciate so much ❤❤❤ I'd love to listen to theirs too.
Please don't quit dancing overall though! You're an amazing dancer and we love you, Matt! Dancers can always find their love for dance again when stepping back from the industry. Think about it :)

Not me crying into my Dunkin over this 😭 When I was little I wanted to take dance classes but my mom was very religious and AGAINST DANCING! I have so much fun now watching creators and watching these videos from home where I can (thankfully) dance along like no one is watching. It sucks that TH-cam wasn’t paying the bills, but you have put a smile on my face with your choreography, & I’m looking forward to this new path!

I'd never imagined myself crying on one of your videos. Few years ago, I didn't knew how to properly dance and thought to myself that I'll never be a great dancer. I've watched almost every single one of your videos from 2014 up to this day. Na Na was the first ever dance video that I've watched from you and it even had the names of the dancers at the bottom, but actually Slow Motion was the first ever dance choreography that I learned from you, and I learned it with the help of your tutorials back then. Few years later, I'm now a captain of my university dance team, and have danced in such big places here in my home country, the Philippines all because I learned from your dance videos. Hope to see you on tour again, Matt. Hopefully I can afford your classes when you come back here. Thank you for doing this, thank you for being such an inspiration, you will always be my first virtual dance teacher. Matt, i know this is one of a billion comments but you saved me. In 2017-2018 around when you made that tutorial for MIA i was out of shape and not feeling so great. I was over weight and sitting around the house eating feeling sad. I wanted to start getting fit and found you videos on YT. I was always into dancing since i first was able to get into club I had a tight group of friends who also loved to dance and we went to diff clubs and got the dancing started. People would be standing around waiting for the first few people to go out and dance,,, we were those few people. Then i was in ARMY and family stuff happened and then after my kids grew up I was sad and bored. You got me up and helped me lose 50 lbs dancing to your videos. They were hard enough to challenge me but not so hard i gave up. I was in best shape of my life after losing that weight and eating better bc of your videos. I would start my day dancing and working out. I got up to 50 pushups from 6 when i started and felt amazing. Then covid came and shut down my favorite places to go dancing and now I gained back that 50lbs. I need to start over too. I am 57 years old this year but i know what i need to do just have to get it started...lol I just wanted to thank you for your help with bringing back dance to my life.

The young redhead that was in the "don't stop" video for Nothing More has always captivated our attention. She took that music video to a different level... My 12 year old autistic daughter is obsessed with your videos and is truly gifted at dancing. She picks up steps faster than any 'neurotypical' but we can't find a studio that will allow her to join. She did ballroom dancing for awhile but got bored and LOVES hip-hop and pop. I just want to thank you for inspiring her, and us. It's made a REAL difference in her life. Matt you are the reason I started dancing. The energy that came from your yt videos it was so strong that I wanted to learn to dance even though I never had any thought of dancing before. If it weren't for you I would probably not be a dancer today. I was injured for years and couldn't dance, but watching your videos kept the dream alive for me. I remember how so many times, as I walked on the treadmill to keep myself fit, I would watch your videos as I walked, and that would keep me motivated to be able to dance once again. You have no idea how you changed my life!!! I gave up on dance all together till I started doing your tutorials. I even drive to Dallas to take one of your classes. No lie I went back and danced my way through school. I got a dance studio and taught regionally and now I am the coach of a high school dance team. Beyond grateful for all the work you’ve done man. I was a pretty shy kid growing up and found it so hard to truly express myself. Was caught up being such a people pleaser. Your vids awakened something in me man! I would dance alone in my room doing your choreo until I eventually started putting myself out there on a whim. I’ve now had the chance to perform and tour all over the country and internationally to China, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Mexico. Thank you for sharing your humbling story. I've always wondered the stories behind the dancers, and from the outside, your appearance just comes across as an attractive, privileged white guy, and that's all most of us have to go off of. Stories bring in context to who is on screen.
I've always considered Bailey Sok the version of me had I had supportive parent(s) - her energy, her flexibility, her moves. I never got the opportunity to pursue dance due to coming from a poor background and unstable childhood, but dancing everyday is what I look forward to when I can get to a point in life where I have the funds to simply pursue what I want and love -- dance.
Your videos have helped me through the hardest periods of my life (assaults in the military, medical recoveries, depression, loss of future), and when I felt like there was nothing to live for and nothing brought me joy in life anymore, your videos reminded me that I could still be inspired and feel passion for something in this life.
Thank you for sharing your story! So many bumps to get to where you are today, shows how motivated and strong you were and are still I’m sure! Excited to see what’s next! ❤

I just broke my ankle last Monday and had surgery to repair my ankle last time. As a dancer you know injuries can be detrimental so our training and cause of stress and sadness. I have been teaching Dance Appreciation at a local college in So. CA since 2002, and you are the most talked about "favorite" choreographer in my classes! You inspire individuals to be themselves with no boundaries. I especially loved when you traveled to different countries and made TH-cam videos. Keep up the fantastic work and can't wait to see and listen to your stories; my favorite thing to do when I'm not teaching or dancing is listen to podcasts (and watch TH-cam, cuz I'm old school).
What originally drew me to your channel was being able to watch people do something they are passionate about. That to me, is the ultimate joy! I am a 51yo woman from Canada who first saw one of your videos back in 2019 and I started following you because of the joy that exuded from you in your videos. I am a complete klutz and trip over minute bumps in the sidewalk so watching someone do intricate moves in unison with you was incredible. I have noticed less joy in the few I have watched but have to be honest, your videos haven't been hitting my feed recently. I look forward to seeing where you are heading and will check for your content rather than waiting for it to appear. You've stuck through it and I respect that, can't wait to see what's next!
