I would have been just as happy as anyone if that had been the case (referring to the title). But I got to say that it really was a big 'ol episode, one of my top favorites, and the grand way that it wrapped everything up, having everyone's families all together felt so beautiful and poignant, almost series finale-like (almost as if they weren't sure they were getting renewed), but left a lot of room for promise and things to look forward to in the next season. And I got to say Oliver's acting was probably my favorite thing, Angela's (Athena) being a close second. I can see why Oliver was so proud of his work in this episode. Buck's tears and his stress and heartache and all of his emotion was so beautifully portrayed. My heart literally ached for him, especially for that scene with Christopher. Buck really felt like the star of the episode. This scene really felt special, in that regardless of what becomes of Buddie (best friends or more), they'll always be bound through Christopher, they will always be Christopher's dads. And I just love the way Eddie spoke to Buck in this scene (i.e. "Evan", "you act like you're expendable, but you're wrong"), literally everything about the scene. And it was so sweet seeing everyone greeting Eddie as he came home from the hospital, and Buck being happy in that moment. I am just really happy for everyone, and I am happy to be able to watch the evolution of all their relationships, and to be able to see even more in season 5. 😁♥️😊
Same, regardless of weather Buck and Eddie become more or just remain best buddies I love both characters and absolutely adore their bromance, that’s enough for me. The way Eddie trusts Buck enough to be their and take care of his boy is so special. The way Buck stepped up and stayed with Christopher and told him what happened despite breaking down just warms my heart.
Great one. I also think Eddie was somehow trying to also save Buck from himself. Highlighting that he is great but not expandable meaning he wanted him safe because he did not want to lose him. Letting him know he is important and valuable.
It's either going to be Carla or Aunt Pepa who is going to mention it to Eddie. Carla "I'm happy to see that you are following your heart" Eddie's Aunt Pepa *gives Eddie that knowing look and grin* C'mon season 5 I can't wait!
That Eddie is so damn fine. Even straight guys will have to admit how hot he is. These guys are in love without even knowing it. Ryan Murphy is just playing with our emotions.
I mean, it's heterosexual guy Chimney who is the first to say, "Now that is a beautiful man" when Eddie first appears on screen. Some things just can't be denied 😁
Imma be honest and say for years I only noticed this "couple" out of the corner of my eye and was annoyed with people's obsession over two straight guys. Now that I've been into the show for less than a week, I'm like: They're Literally in love. Every single scene with them makes sense in the context of them having repressed feelings for each other. So, sorry, I get it now.
@Lisa Most people don't call Buck by his first name anymore. Only Maddie, his sister (who practically raised him since their parents checked out emotionally after their other child died), gets to use the name Evan and even she usually saves that for serious situations. The name Buck, short for his last name Buckley, was given to him in his firefighter class, and Buck has said many times that he feels like being a firefighter is central to his identity (whereas his childhood wasn't great because the parents were so distant and unloving). I assume that's why he only wants to be called by that name. So Eddie using the name Evan and Buck being OK with it (he doesn't correct Eddie like he did his parents, telling them to call him Buck), is a sign of closeness and intimacy.
Called IT! I had a gut feeling that Eddie made Buck the guardian for Christopher. Just wished Eddie said that the biggest reason for choosing Buck was because Christopher chose Buck, when he ran away, where did he go, Buck's. End game, Daddy Buck!
i knew it too because in the tsunami episode Buck was very protective over Christopher and at the end Eddie said"there is no one on this earth i trust my son more than you" so i kinda knew that he made Buck Christopher's legal guardian cause of what he said
Honestly at this point I don't where these two will end up. I'm happy at where they are right now and seeing how close they've become. I'm glad that Buck has Eddie to tell him that he matters, that he isn't feeling like a let down and I'm glad that Eddie has Buck to fight for him and to take care of Christopher. I just hope for these two to be happy whether that be together or not. Idk if the writers will ever pursue these two becoming more than best friends but it's be interesting to see how they have these two portrayed in the next season.
This is so sweet! I wouldn't have a second thought either, Eddie made the right choice for sure. And Buck needed to hear those words from his best friend. 😭💛
Yknow what Buddie aside this was something Buck NEEDED to hear. He really does think he's expendable and he needed to hear that he's loved, needed, and important just as his individual self. I'm also of course very very happy that it was Eddie who told him that :)
I love the fact that Eddie tells Buck he makes him Christopher's guardian parent is because Eddie knows Buck doesn't have anyone (by anyone I mean his motivation)/being able to sacrifice himself over others, so Eddie decides to give Buck a responsibility, as Buck made a promise to Eddie like this, to do right by him, he will not allow to give up, or at least trying to fight back when something happens, like a rope to climb because you made a promise to your best friend to take care of his son. I really love their friendship, it's just so good.
Yes I see some potential here . " You act like you're expandable but you're wrong" and Eddie breaths after saying that like some kind of relief . And the way buck looked at him when he said that . This gives me hope
It's impossible to know what goes on behind the scenes, but some fans believe Oliver and Ryan had a bit of a falling out after Ryan got caught up in that controversy about a year ago. What happened was that Ryan posted an Instagram video defending his fiancée for saying the N word in the past and even saying that HE uses it with friends and he doesn't know why people are getting "butthurt". Several of Ryan's 911 castmates joined the chorus of people calling him out on it, including Oliver, although I don't think he mentioned Ryan by name, he only addressed the issue and said that using the N word (unless you're Black yourself) is wrong no matter what. A little after that, they apparently stopped following each other on Insta and Twitter. So it seems like the relationship between Oliver and Ryan cooled, at least for some time, and maybe that's why the show didn't pair them together too often in Season 4. Hopefully now that it's been a while, they're past that and on better terms again. There was some pretty intense Buddie stuff in the Season 4 finale and I'd like to think the writers got back to putting them together because there wasn't as much tension between them anymore.
I find it so amazing that they've been building this great relationship. I think that if more men treated their friends with such love and affection then we'd solve so many problems that stem from male repressed toxic masculinity. Well that's my soapbox moment of the day
Someone wrote this on tumblr: "Eddie at the well: ~Flashbacks of Christopher and his life~ Eddie: "hey, that was a lot of Buck" ... ... ... Eddie, to his attorney: "actually, you know what?" 😂😂😂😍😍
I bet when Eddie told his lawyer what he wants to do, the lawyer reacted with surprise that Eddie had a male partner/husband and they had no idea, then Eddie was all "Oh no, he's just my bestie" and the lawyer gave him the biggest "SURE JAN" in response.
seriously, this episode is 1 of the main reasons buddie is a thing, like eddie, sweetheart, you can't say that to buck and NOT expect us all to start planning your freaking wedding
Can we just reflect on this scene for a moment and think back to the opening moment of this episode and just appreciate that despite the fact that Eddie was the one bleeding out and had a bullet go through him, he still asked Buck if he was injured. Eddie really believes that Buck is not expendable and it just touches my heart how worried he is despite the fact that he’s the one injured.🥺♥️ I love these two so much and I can’t wait to see how the writers take this in the future (even if they stay best friends I can live with that, knowing no friendship can or will be as strong as these two). I mean seriously picture these two in a relationship and tell me it’s not the most cutest thing ever. It would probably be the greatest power couple ever. 🤣♥️
Can they please please please get together already! I'm all for the guys can be just friends, I really can, but this show is just portraying them so much as a couple but seem too scared to actually put a label on it and go all in!
I can't see any of my friends saying this kind of thing to their best friends. I'm close to my bf, we love each other dearly, but we are not THAT close. Deciding to make someone the legal guardian of your kid is not something that can be taken lightly. And for Eddie to be so sure that Buck would never refuse? Dang. Plus, the "no one would fight harder for my kid than you" is too powerful. I've seen people get attached to kids that are not their own, but NEVER at THIS level. The depth of this relationship is way than any friendship could be. It may not develop into a physical relationship on the show (I bet it would in real life, if things got to this point...) but this certainly is not a mere friendship. And the "You act like you're spendable, but you are wrong" really did sound like "You act like you are spendable, but you are not. Not for me." This "hidden" meaning rang very loudly...
Maddie said a season or so ago to Chimney that they were the only ones without children. Every one around Eddie and Buck considers Christopher as Buck's son as well. Then Carla mentioned to Eddie to make sure that he was following his heart and not Christopher's. (Which we all know that Buck is both of their hearts) Eddie did tell Buck after the Tsunami that he trusted Buck most with Christopher so this is confirmation for Buck. Let's not forget Maddie asking Buck about his "boy crush" on Eddie if he was ready to move on from Abby. When the relationship is revealed either Cap and Athena or Hen and Chimney are going to tell the others to pay up 😂😂😂
What if when it cut off eddie told him something that we don’t know about because he looked like he was the most hurt That buck thought that he was expendable so technically the title could be true
Definitely a romance. I don't think Eddie would've called Buck by his name if he didn't have feelings for him. It's too personal since only a couple people call him Evan.
@@wordeeone4996 Because no one except Buck's sister Maddie, who practically raised him, uses that name (and even she only does that intermittently). He corrected his own parents, who GAVE him the name Evan, when they called him that, telling them to call him Buck. It's clear that the name Buck, given to him in his firefighter class, is symbolic to the transition from the young boy who was unloved by his parents and felt like he didn't belong anywhere to the grown man who found his calling and place in the world as a firefighter. So the use of Evan, a name associated with that sad childhood, by Eddie and Buck being okay with it is meaningful.
@@Slingblade87 that’s a whole lot of emphasis when it’s likely he used his name in this serious conversation because it was in fact a very serious conversation. But you’re certainly free to romanticize it if you like.
The fact that Eddie though for the entire time on Bucks words and bother him to the point to tell Buck that he is not expendable that he is so important to him that he is the only one who would entrust what's most precious to him, his son and even made him his legal guardian in case of death. Maaaan that's love and trust, and the fact that Carla told him to follow his heart... that's a flag. They're paving the way for Buddie in the long term. I guess they gonna strech it to for years at this point. I wouldn't be surprised, that's why I would do as well. xD Give people hope for as long as posible and when is needed for recover the audience make it real. I know... it's low and cheap but I think that's what they'll do.
"You act like you're expendable, but you're wrong". Buck's parents have always made him feel like he was, indeed, expendable because of his dead brother so hearing this for Buck must have been really striking.
"but no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you, And That's what I want for him" Me: Flashback to all the episodes Bucky is there for Christopher, and the Tsunami episode ....
Oh I would. Definitely. Cause I know my friend would take care of them 100 hundred percent. But if you died theres a chance your partner takes that out on your child. Or they really didn't love them and were just pretending for your sake. I'd rather leave my child in the hands if my best friend, who I've probably known for years and who has no obligation to take them in rather than my partner who I most likely have known for less time and by societies expectations would be obligated to take in my child.
more people then you realize. step-parents are often bypassed when it comes to step-kids. the only time they get custody is when 1: adoption. 2: no will or guardianship paperwork is in place. 3: no bio relatives want the kid
Well, Eddie doesn't currently have a (serious) partner, so that's not an option anyway. He and Ana have been dating for like 5 minutes. But it speaks volumes that he wants Christopher to go to Buck rather than his parents or some other relative.
Does the question matter when Eddie doesn't legally have a partner or a wife? And Ana isn't it. As for Buck, he's needy and will let Taylor tell him they can work because he needs to have a place for himself. But if Eddie needed him for anything, do you think Taylor could do anything that would make him tell Eddie "No"?
Literally told my mom that if the writers were brave enough to just make them a couple it would make way more sense than forcing them to get into relationships with other characters. You cannot tell me they don’t have chemistry and truly love each other

"They'll always be bound through Christopher" sounds like a couple with a kid. I love it
Carla "I'm happy to see that you are following your heart"
Eddie's Aunt Pepa *gives Eddie that knowing look and grin*
C'mon season 5 I can't wait!
I want Eddie to say why "Evan" was wrong for thinking that. In Eddie's own words. please
"I almost died... Again." had me crying and laughing at the same time
Imma be honest and say for years I only noticed this "couple" out of the corner of my eye and was annoyed with people's obsession over two straight guys. Now that I've been into the show for less than a week, I'm like: They're Literally in love. Every single scene with them makes sense in the context of them having repressed feelings for each other. So, sorry, I get it now.
He called him Evan... These boys...
Reminds me of the episode where a stranger told the two of them that they looked good together. I agree with her judgment.
This right here is the moment you’ve been waiting for all season.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I think it was Eddie's first time saying Buck's first name.
Yes, it is.
It is 🥲🥲
I love their dynamic so much. That it the sweetest thing ever! Eddie really knows how Buck thinks
Let's just say this episodes ending was the most heartwarming thing ever
What a great friendship! So much trust and honesty and loyalty. I 😭🤧😍. Best bromance ever 😉
What a great frinendship so much trust and honersty and loyalty l 😍😍😍 best bromonce ever🥰
Yes I see some potential here . " You act like you're expandable but you're wrong" and Eddie breaths after saying that like some kind of relief . And the way buck looked at him when he said that . This gives me hope
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
THE TITLE KILLED ME AND THE VIDEO KILLED ME EVEN MORE!!!!!! SO CLOSE TO BEING CANON!!!!!! SO CLOSE
On their promotional clip, Oliver did mention something like :
"A big change in the story".
Is this it????? Are they pushing Buddie? 😱
They are just baiting us they know we'll follow along no matter what
To be fair a big change for his character could be the new relationship with Taylor, but we can hope
This was so beautiful. I wonder why the writers had them so distant almost the whole season?
@@Slingblade87 thank u for the inside!
I find it so amazing that they've been building this great relationship. I think that if more men treated their friends with such love and affection then we'd solve so many problems that stem from male repressed toxic masculinity. Well that's my soapbox moment of the day
always find myself coming back to this video
Someone wrote this on tumblr:
"Eddie at the well: ~Flashbacks of Christopher and his life~
Eddie: "hey, that was a lot of Buck"
...
...
...
Eddie, to his attorney: "actually, you know what?"
😂😂😂😍😍
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I bet when Eddie told his lawyer what he wants to do, the lawyer reacted with surprise that Eddie had a male partner/husband and they had no idea, then Eddie was all "Oh no, he's just my bestie" and the lawyer gave him the biggest "SURE JAN" in response.
historians will say they were really good friends
seriously, this episode is 1 of the main reasons buddie is a thing, like eddie, sweetheart, you can't say that to buck and NOT expect us all to start planning your freaking wedding
I will never get tired of watching this scene.
GOSH IM FANGIRLING SO MUCH I CANT EVEN REALLY WATCH IT? IS LIKE LOOKING AT THE SUN, IS TOO MUCH!!!
“You act like you’re expendable. But you’re wrong.” Is the equivalent to “you’re not disposable Callie.” From the fosters
The two dislikes are from Ana 🤣
Maddie said a season or so ago to Chimney that they were the only ones without children. Every one around Eddie and Buck considers Christopher as Buck's son as well.
Then Carla mentioned to Eddie to make sure that he was following his heart and not Christopher's. (Which we all know that Buck is both of their hearts)
Eddie did tell Buck after the Tsunami that he trusted Buck most with Christopher so this is confirmation for Buck.
I'm rewatching these clips still with the hope of buck and Eddie getting together
“because, evan…” brb sobbing screaming throwing up
Confirmamos que Buck es el otro papá de Chris 🤝🏽🤝🏽
Absolutamente
Definitely a romance. I don't think Eddie would've called Buck by his name if he didn't have feelings for him. It's too personal since only a couple people call him Evan.
It’s his name. How is that too personal?
They’re totally in love
Yeah, surprise. You’re a godfather now.
DID I JUST HEAR CHRISTOPHER WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF BY BUCK IN EDDIE'S WILL ??????????!!!!! *crossfinger* BUDDIE !!!!!!
Who cutting all them damn onions 😭😭😭😭😭💞💞💞💞! #BUDDIE ENDGAME!!!
"but no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you, And That's what I want for him"
Me: Flashback to all the episodes Bucky is there for Christopher, and the Tsunami episode ....
Folks, one question, be honest ... Who dad / mom leaves the custody of his / her son to close friend and not his partner (wife / husband) ??
Oh I would.
Me. If I die my best friend who is not my partner she gets my kids
Why do I feel like this is foreshadowing something in the upcoming season...?
it’s either buddie endgame or they would kill Eddie.
@@IzmanHawk Tim Minear said they can’t kill Eddie because he’s too pretty so I don’t think they’ll ever kill him😭
I swear Eddie saw his life flash before his eyes and in that moment he knew...
it is definitely the most moving scene for me!!!
Literally told my mom that if the writers were brave enough to just make them a couple it would make way more sense than forcing them to get into relationships with other characters. You cannot tell me they don’t have chemistry and truly love each other
2:06 when Eddie pulls the first name card on Buck you know he means business
Tell him you love him without telling him you love him
The writers be reading fanfictions and made Buck Christopher's dad. Well when Eddie dies anyway. 😂
I'm screaming so bad right now!!!!!!!!!!
Buck accepte some one to calling him Evan ,
yes not anyone, just Eddie
It was also the first time he called him Evan. My heart hurts
Is this the first time Eddie called Buck EVAN!!!! 😂😂😂
This show either needs to pull the trigger and have these two finally take a chance with each other or end the baiting all together.
Seriously i have watched this like 10 times now, and i can see that this is Eddies way of saying I love you... until he actually says it...
OMG MY SHIP IS SAILING IN THE MOST HEART WARMING WAY EVER
