I would like to understand the relationship between the increase in policy rate and the appreciation of the domestic currency, I can't see the link between these two variables.

Higher interest rates offer lenders in an economy a higher return relative to other countries. Therefore, higher interest rates attract foreign capital and cause the exchange rate to rise (local currency appreciates).
