Hi from New Zealand. I was 14 in 1974, a high school student. I liked Jefferson Starship, and i remember their album Red Octupus in 1975. It contained that wonderful track Miracles which was released as a single. I saw Elton John in concert in the 1970s. I remember the music was really good. He sang Candle in the Wind. I liked British Glam Rock then groups such as Slade. Mott the Hoople , and the Sweet. Linda Ronstadts album is good. that song You're no Good is a classic.

Funny,I also turned 14 in 74 and saw my first real concert during thanksgiving that year- Elton John at Madison square garden! It was spectacular…..goodbye Yellow brick road tour. Speaking of Starship,Octopus is good but to me the album “ Spitfire” which came out in 76 is their best…check it out if you haven’t yet.

Graduated high school in 1974. Had most of those albums. On the Border is indeed a kick-ass record!

Love that Charlie Daniels album. I made a tape of it and played it on road trips across the west. Same thing with Win Lose Or Draw.

I liked your list, but I also would include the doors LA woman Aerosmith get your wings Jeff Beck blow by blow and an under the radar one by Jefferson Starship called Spitfire really really good. Oh let’s not forget blue oyster cult agents of Fortune and Steve Miller fly like an eagle.

Charlie Daniels is a well-known fiddle player but a lot of people don’t realize he was an excellent guitarist. He could really burn it up in concert. That live cut on the album you are showing is one of the best jams from any southern band.

Win Lose or Draw was released in late 1975. They didn't even start recording it until 75. They were way behind schedule. I love the album, though.

I stand corrected and apologize will do a 1975 follow up! Give you a shout out! But it is an under rated album of ABB. Thanks for watching I just got Wipe the Windows on vinyl which was 1976 and is great as well some prime live Dickey and Chuck and Lamar era keep on spinning!

Wipe the windows is fantastic. I actually like it better than Fillmore East, and the version of in memory Elizabeth Reed is absolutely fantastic. The whole album is pretty darn good from start to finish great versions of can’t lose what you never had come and go blues, I believe, and of course, one of the best versions of rambling man.

I think Berry Oakley is the name you were searching for. lol I hate it when that happens. Allen Woody was my favorite - he had the best facial expressions, you could really tell that he was into the music. I still remember opening the newspaper when I was having breakfast while traveling for work and I saw the headline "Allman Brothers Band bassist dies" or something like that and I was like "why are they having a story about Berry Oakley?" and then of course I read the news. Heart Like A Wheel is fantastic....I just love it. I have that JGB live album (CD) where Robert Hunter comes out and plays Tiger Rose. Fantastic. I don't have any of his albums though. Thanks for the lookback at 1974 looking forward to part 2.

You are correct! Big shout out to Berry and Berry Jr. who is Touring now I believe. Lamar was the man for me the pocket he created w Butch and Jaimoe and Chuck on keys was out of this world I just got Wipe The Windows on a 2016 mercury repress thanks for watching! Part II up now! Happy Spinning!

Laura Nyro left David Geffen many years before she passed away. He lost Nyro because she left him when he wanted her to join Asylum. He was very bitter about her leaving. At least that’s how it comes across in the documentary.
