One of my best friends got married about two months ago. I wasn’t asked to be a groomsman and the best part was I wasn’t even offended because it was HIS choice. He told me to get there early so I did. When I walked into his hotel room, everyone was super happy to see me. He got up and gave me a huge hug and said he was very, very happy to see me. Then once we started partying after the wedding, he pulled me off to the side in private to thank me. I asked what for and he smiled and thanked me for being mature about his bridal party decision. When I insisted it was HIS decision, he gave me another huge hug and said I will always be one of his best friends forever ☺️. Plus, all I had to do was show up and smile; much less work lol.
Cavin Elizabeth Photography oh, and I thought the best part was when he started crying. Everyone including his Best Man asked what was wrong and how they could help. He said he has all of his best friends in one room all swaggered up for his big day. It was such a touching moment.
Recent trend...in !ieu of flower girls...you can have flower guy(s) or (like my fiance & I are planning to have) flower grandma(s). It's a thing. Seriously... look it up here on TH-cam. The grandmas are so adorable & feel so honored to have such a part in the wedding. Children get scared or the wedding is during their usual naptime so they get cranky & most of them really don't care about in the wedding. No children in the wedding or as guests (in my opinion) is less stress for everyone. Flower guys...can be hilarious & we have two in mind in case my fiance's grandma isn't able on the day (she's in her 90's). We selected the guys we know that would totally ham it up & make it fun. Some people do get their nose bent out of shape if they're not included in the bridal party. Oh well. Sorry, not sorry. 😁 Could you do a video of the top 10 tackiest things that happen at a wedding? I think people need to know.
I wouldn't say so, at least for me. Most ceremonies are more light and airy because of the natural light (at least with the style I shoot), and then by nighttime or for indoor receptions things will always look darker and I sort of love that since they convey two different moods :-) Hope that answers. Let me know if you were looking for another question :)
About 30% of my weddings have odd numbers on at least one side of the bridal party. I think it works better when the bridesmaids aren't matching 100% as the balance would be leaning more toward the side of the 3 bridesmaids vs 2 all in the same dress. It helps break up that chunk on the larger side when the gowns are all different. All of this said, I always tell my couples to choose who they really want and if it's an odd number we will make it look great just as we would with even :-) In the end I think having the "right" people will be more significant than how it looks in the final photos!
Cavin Elizabeth Photography Thanks so much, that’s really helpful! I hadn’t thought about the dress idea. I’m probably going to go with 3 rather than try to make the numbers even, so I’ll look into the dresses.
My fiancé doesn’t have many friends, his sister is his best man (which I’m not happy at all about but he wanted her, so I couldn’t go against that) His mother is being irritating about trying to push other people in to the wedding list and to the wedding party, which is stressing me out. He’s picked a couple of ushers, are they the same as groomsmen? I have 4 bridesmaids, he will have 2/3 ushers, but I thought ushers was something we picked together I really wish I could mention my uncertain feelings about a few things, and that I don’t trust some people with specific tasks, like I’d much prefer my dad to look after wedding rings and we’d already agreed that that was going to happen until someone put their oar in 😔 Sorry for the rant
Ushers are more of the people who help guests find the ceremony and their seats. Definitely not equal footing as groomsmen :) Sometimes the ushers are groomsmen too, but not always. Definitely talk it out with him and see if he can get his mother to back off a little. I find that giving irritating family members a busywork task that it distracts them from being annoying lol

What a great story!

When your cat came in the frame i totally thought you were going to talk about using pets in the bridal party
same 😂
Hahaha I would have if I could! I do have a video about using pets in the engagement and wedding photos though :)
Great video! Video idea - (not sure if you have content on this) how to choose your MOH.
Great idea!
How do you feel about uneven sides? Ex: 4 on bride and 7 on grooms
It doesn't cause too much of an issue for photos, especially when mixing up the bride and groom's "sides." :-)

As a photographer is it hard if the ceremony has a different vibe from the reception?
How so? :)
For example our ceremony is going to have a light and airy vibe and our reception will be a 1940s USO. As a photographer does that effect your style?

@@cavinelizabeth Thank you! I really have learned a lot from your channel.
What’s your view on odd vs even numbers of bridesmaids? From a photographer’s point of view.

I have 4 girls and 3 boys on my side! Best decision!
