imo the veneer not going exactly as planned left some cool unique variations to the pattern on the top of the guitar. It came out very beautiful and inspiring
Every time when i watch your videos, i recognize that you have one of the tightest guitar sounds that i know. Snappy single notes and defined chords, just a pleasure to listen to!
Idk if you still have this guitar. I hope you do. The flaws tell a story and I think you should be very proud of your work. That guitar just looks absolutely stunning
Didn't follow the whole project, just saw the result in this video and for me it looks really gorgeous! Tone is awesome, great marketing for the pickups. Very well done, even if you may not really be able to see it...
You did such an incredible job on this, even if the top got slightly messed up, the guitar still looks beautiful and sounds beautiful ! Congrats to you for this project !!!
I love when you mod guitars like this, its really inspired me to do the samething lol Ive had a set of pickups and locking tuners just laying around from a failed project but Im hella gonna do a fun job
Love to see Guitarmory love! The Atlas set is what uprooted the dimarzio Dactivator/Liquifire combo from my go to spot. Also Michael, if you're watching this 💙💙💙
The guitarmory pickups have a much less clean box-ish sound. Like, they're just so much less sterile sounding and I actually like it much better. Really cool!
The nut can only cause fret buzz on open strings, if you press down on a fret, your figner becomes the nut sort of. So if you have fret buzz while fretting it comes from the truss rod adjustment and/or the bridge height.
I think you need 4 covers for the pickup attachment screws. Both sets of pickups sounded good to me- the originals had more treble that could be adjusted with an amp or pedal. Good job! The imperfections make it more one of a kind.
That is one djenty boi! Awesome work man! Really excited to see he next project, these videos are super inspiring. Personally I really like the old beaten up look of this one! The veneer looks great on camera
Ill be honest, normally veneer projects are boring and dated. Your "Screw up" actually makes it look a lot better than an average veneer job mate; cheers
man, you did an amazing job. guitar is awesome even you had worried about veneer. all your work turned into a great guitar. and more important, is made by you. I hope you will keep this guitar for you!!!
I REALLY liked this project, it goes to show that we are all different in our likes and what we prefer, I felt for you when the veneer didn't go the way you liked. I do like the color, with the new pickups, sounded mean and badass. The one thing I would have done differently, is added a clear coat that would have added depth on the flames on the veneer. That is what Ibanez does, they get depth to their finishes with that process. Just me, you have a nice top on that. Yes you would have had to wet sand it and buffer it etc. But the results would be pretty cool:) Anyway, I thought the end result was nice. One last thing, I have a new Ibanez guitar with Quantum pickups in it, and I hate them, muddy and not defined enough for me. So, I do not blame you taking out the minutemen pups. I am about to paint my new headstock, not spray it, but paint it, and watching you work on yours gave me some ideas. Great series! thanks!
Small tip for whoever ends up with this guitar with the original pickups. Paint the pickup feet with a black gloss marker so they don't stick out visually so much. This project turned out so great. Looks awesome.
Lustig, saß grad aufm Klo und hab mich gewundert, wann wohl n neues Video rauskommt ^^ Wenn ich grad Kohle hätte, würd ich das Ding auf jeden Fall kaufen. Hab noch keine 7-String im Sortiment
Amazing, man! I would love to see your reaction on a completely refretted project with stainless steel or to fret dress and polishing the frets. I do it with all my guitars and my friends guitars too. I have never came as close as you did with the body but your video series encouraged me to do some work on my Ibanez 7 string. Cheers and keep doing those cool guitar porn videos 🤪
great job man! the guitar looks awesome! btw is this tung oil finish durable? would you cover another guitar body with it? and what about sound comparison before and after removing the finishing? did the tone/sustain improve?
How was your bridge/string height after removing the old finish? I removed the paint and sealer coat on an old Ibanez RG I was customising, I had a really tough time with it just like you did and once I got down to the bare wood then applied primer and paint etc, so much material had been removed from the top of the body that the bridge sat much lower than before so I had to raise the saddles significantly higher to compensate.
Thinking of throwing this same pickup set from Guitarmory into my Schecter C7 Apocalypse. Think they would do well in a Swamp Ash body? Also were you using the Laney Ironheart for this video?
to be honest, i think the guitar looks Really really good. i kind of having my... guess what.. a GF gods fever guitar on the run coming. although this one is surely tempting.
honestly I can say the Ibanez pickups sounded a bit better... I'd have to hear more to decide. Makes me wonder how BKP's would side by side compare to the Quantum pickups
A heat gun and scraper would have helped take that paint off. I stripped my old Squier Stagemaster like that. It was super easy, barely an inconvenience........
Soulhenge Sweet! You should try to develop that into a full song! I mean...if you want to...😅 Btw, your mods are probably the only Ibanez's I'd buy! I can already see a full on modding business coming out of this 😎
Hi bro... Can u suggest to me which pickups nice for my Ibanez RG1027PBF CBB come with stock Dimarzio PAF® Pickups... I like sound like your style djent, prog, modern metal and many more... Please Help Me...
I second that it's a lot of time to sand down guitar body. Did same on my RG321. At first it was kinda easy. Then I realized it's huge pain. Wasted a LOT of time. In the end I realized that I could have saved a little time using another approach in choosing sandpaper, but that won't be huge deal. Definitely don't want to do this again. About the smell - could be oil. I had mine tung oiled and it still smells weird after more than 1 month.
only a moron sands a bady....go to a furniture dip stripping shop, they strip the completely by dipping it in a solution, it removes every bit in the tiny nooks and crannies, completely clean and ready to do what you want...but only a complete dumbass uses sandpaper to remove paint or finish...lol
@@nasticanasta IIRC, that Soulhenge guy (don't know his name) still had to sand guitar body in previous videos after using heat gun. And a lot of luthiers recommend to remove paint with sandpaper. So yeah, they just must be not as smart as you are. BTW, by calling me moron and complete dumbass, you just show your sad intelligence, detrimental and toxic personality, nothing more.
@@MilianMalivukMusic, thanks! I also found the vid of what exactly you use. I am surprise use an OD with the interface works, I would of thought it would have caused so much clipping.
@@MilianMalivukMusic could you do a video on how you shape the tone using that plug in? It makes me want to get it because your tones are so clear sounding through both pickups and the cleans are perfect
Keith Axisa It looks much better, it feels much better and I'm pretty sure it gave the guitar a more snappy tone because it's denser and higher quality material.
nah bro, wtf r u saying? that rg550 its amazing, just put some dimarzio pickups (titan-super distortion) or some seymour duncan (alpha/omega-sentient-custom 5)
@@darthshaggy9970 it was quite a wreck. Had to fill in a lot of big finish chips and now I am waiting for the automotive foil I ordered to arrive (I'm very bad with laquer). I also had to order new string holder blocks for the trem, because they were too rusty. Also did a fret job on it. Now it's okay. I'm putting in a Seymour Duncan alternative 8 into the bridge and a 59 into the neck position.
@@MilianMalivukMusic do you think changing the Ibanez one for the Hipshot FP7 had any benefit in the guitar? It seems to me that both bridges are fairly similar.
did you attend any guitar lessons or you are just one of these talented self-learners? I'm just curious. By the way, good job with that guitar! looks gorgeously
Can you get better than American made pickups? No! But thats an unfair statement as you 100% can get pickups just as good in both sound and quality! I've got some made in Japan pickups and some custom made UK ones that are awesome. Are they better or worse sounding then the guitars I have with Seymour Duncan pups and DiMarzio pups? Not really, just different sounding! But just as high quality in build and audio. My BKP loaded guitars sound great too. I even have some pretty nice sounding cheapo Iron Gear pups in a couple of my upgraded budget guitars.
Actually the Custom Made UK ones are a bit higher build quality than the Duncans, DiMarzio's and other pups that I have. But thats because its a custom job, not mass produced. Though I'm sure a bespoke pup made anywhere by someone with skill, experience and pride in their work will be like that.

What string gauge do you use for youre 7 strings ? 10/60 ?
