When he failed to control his mother he showed other character flaws. But he was a boss when he said, "He's only a watcher. Hang him last so he can watch the others die."

If he was given information that it was supposed to be a trap, he would've followed the plan, but the plan was never provided to him. That's Robb's fault, not his. He also gave a look of disapproval when Robb decided to behead Karstark, and advised him not to, which Robb ignored, and led to half the Northern army to march back. He later took one for the team when Robb decided to break his promise to the Frey. Robb's broken promise was nail to coffin to the Red Wedding. Robb fucked up. Edmure didn't.
@@kashewz Most of the Karstark forces had already left to find Jaime Lannister so that wasnt really Robbs fault. Also at that point I believe Robb was attacking the West(I may be wrong) if he sent a raven detailing his plans it could be shot down by Lannister forces it was too much of a risk.

Can't really blame him "since Ned was already dead and trying to save him is the only reason he made that deal" plus Arya was apart of that package deal we all know she wasn't having that 😂 and Walder Frey was weak he wouldn't have done that if it wasn't for Tywinn &Roose helping him carry it out. So it seems that even if Robb didn't marry Talisa The red wedding was still likely to happen he just would have swapped places with Edmure in the situation

Though if Tywin wasn't able to make it to the city in time but was still able to secure the Tyrell alliance, they would have had the largest and most powerful army in the war by far. So it's not clear what would happen at that point.
Edmure was given an order. Plain and simple. He was told to hold riverrun. Edmure screwed up by not following Robb's command. Robb didn't trust that a raven or a messenger with the plan wouldn't get intercepted, so he only told Edmure the part of the plan that concered Edmure.
Tywin answered this question honestly imo. He told him he made Tyrion acting Hand bc he was his son (Jaime unavailable) and he needed someone to handle Cersie and Jeoffery. Simple

As far as I’m aware at no point in the books or show did Edmure bungle the defeat of lord Tywin. Lord Tywin is never close to being caught. Your getting mixed up with the mountain. Robb is trying to draw the mountain in to a trap in the west where he can cut them off from the rest of Tywins army and defeat him and mount the mountains massive head on a spike but Edmure messed up by not following orders and attacked the mountain at the stone mill and the mountain retreats back to safety.

Tywin was cautious of Stannis and rightly so but wasn’t afraid and did send his forces to meet him head on when his family was threatened.

Don't do Edmure like that, he was defending his ppl from a literal monster. Robb should have just told him the damn plan.
