Every brick building that was old has levels below the surface because you're not looking at ground level today. Has anybody ever heard the term mud flood.
Old cellar for keeping things cool. (Little House on the Prairie used to have those in the Laura Ingalls Wilder Books.) We have a not so secret one in our old basement and it's a cellar. Pretty cool. It's a shame they forgot about it or buried it! Looks awesome!!! Could also be for coal. We also have that on the other end of our basement. Just a lot smaller.
