I turned 21 in 1991 & only Glocks I ever saw was in big FFL dealers but didn't see hardly any in my rural area until 2000 on so by then the generation 3 Glock was everywhere. I have 3 , 4,& 5 and a P80 retro Glock sold few years ago through Lypseys. Awesome collection. Thanks for sharing.
Years ago, only the serial number had to be on the frame and the maker, maker location, importer and importer location could be on the slide, but now all info has to be on the frame.
Under federal law the gun has to have the country of origin on it somewhere, usually this is on the slide, but the original P80 does not say "Austria" on the slide, so neither does this one, and that's why they put Made in Austria on the frame.
I think the Gen 2 was the best. I gave my personal Gen 2 19 to my oldest some for Christmas a few years ago. Now I'm on the hunt for another to carry myself. The 43X has been filling the void for now. I never liked the Glocks with the finger grooves.
The old magazines were intentionally meant to swell when full so they would not accidentally drop out and be lost in the snow. If you watch the interview with one of the executives talking about the p80 in his review
I’ve never been a fan of the finger groove Glocks. My favorite is the Gen 2, and the Gen 5 right after that. The grip texture on this will not be as good as the Gen 4,3,2,5
My P80 came with a metal reinforced newer style mag but it only has one mag catch notch in it so I'm guessing there's a few rolling changes being made. Also not sure if it has the polygonal rifling as it's my first Glock but it kinda looks like regular rifling and looks nothing like my old Jericho's barrel which is definitely polygonal. I know gen 5 Glocks have regular button rifling but I don't have one to compare.
What kind of p80 is this I never seen a p80 with Glock logos can I purchase this without a ffl license can I just purchase it in get it delivered right to my door
The barrel is thinner in the original (can be seen in vid). Original had a "recall" as it was NOT drop safe!. The real original internals were black and somewhat different, there is ample information on the internet. The locking block on the original looks "weaker" as do the rails (thin). Not sure the if you can "fire" exchanging slides.......
I am Glock's biggest critic but I am in love with these Gen 1 replicas. I've always loved the old school Glocks but they're impossible to find. So it's cool that they decided to make new ones. I'd much rather have a reproduction Gen 1-3 over a new Gen 4 or 5.
@@M60gunner1971 Not sure how you can sit there lecturing me on the mechanical complexities of weaponry. A Gen 5 Glock is scarcely different from a Gen 2 Glock, all of the improvements are minor cosmetic alterations (mag release, backstraps, grip texture, recoil spring, rifling, etc) the basic design has remained practically the exact same since 1983. But somehow stating that I would prefer an old Glock is a controversial statement? It's the SAME DAMN GUN! But at least the old ones were cheap and had a sort of style to them. These new ones are overpriced status symbols that have been long surpassed in their own market by the competition (CZ, Walther, Beretta, I could go on).
Excellent video on the Glock 17 gen 1 and P 80 these guns are rare if you could find one buy it they are hard to find 🇦🇹💯👍
Thanks! They were a "modern collectable" when they released them even. :-)
I purchased the Glock P80 in January 2021 and I love it! The trigger is the best out of all generations! That trigger reset is awesome!

Still have my Glock 17 I got back in 1988 never had any misfires or any other malfunction
They work great. I have 2 of the Gen 1 Glocks. Now they are collectable. 🙂

In America the lower is the gun. So makes sense to put it there.
I’ll never understand why they changed the grip from the gen 1. In my opinion was the best frame Glock had. Gen 5 is pretty good also.

Old school mags only dropped free when partially empty. They didn't drop free when filled with 17 rds very well from my own experience.
Correct, was just about to mention that. This is because the old mags weren't lined with steel so the plastic swelled when full.
Because those old mags were gay.
It also helped with performing a tactical reload.
The old magazines were intentionally meant to swell when full so they would not accidentally drop out and be lost in the snow. If you watch the interview with one of the executives talking about the p80 in his review
I think that thing looks awesome the simplistic look to me is very nice
I wonder if it comes with the Blue Label discount for officers?..
That would be awesome. I'll have to ask.
Thanks for this brother. Good quick comparison.
Will the true gen 1 slide fit and function on the p80 frame? I have a gen1 and the frame is ruined somebody before me tried to stipple it
Is the gen 1 uncaptured guide rod polymer?
Good video, been curious about a side by side comparison
Thanks Marcus. I was curious myself, and figured some other people might be also. :-)
I was hoping someone would make a video like this. Thanks. Do you think the P80 is as good as the Gen 4?

Ordered one. Thanks for the video
Looks like the P80 has a lot of G4/G5 internal parts.
All gen 3 parts.
Does the P80 have the Gen 5 trigger?
It has a gen 6.2 trigger
It's on there because they were made in Austria the p 80 and the Retro gen 17 are made in Austria
Is the retro made in Austria or US??
Austria
@@mustang1191 Awesome!
Just bought the new Glock 17 going to use it for every day carry 😊
They are really good carry guns for sure!
I don't get how they'd throw the old molds out, just from a historical sense.
Seems crazy to me to toss them. They would be worth TONS!

You are thinking of a Polymer 80. This is a Glock from the 1980s. The model name is similar.
Reproduction of a 1980s Glock
They put the "Made in Austria" on the frame to prevent people from passing them off as an '80s original.
If you ever decide to sell your Gen 1 on GB, I bet you'll easily get over a grand for it! Especially if you have the original plastic box. 😁😎
Ya, its crazy what they go for. People make fun of me when I mention Gen 1 Glocks are collectable. LOL They just cant handle the truth.! :-)

The original locking block appears to be machined and the new ones are MIM, not sure though.
Glocks are like jordans same gun(shoes) different year
When did this come out?
D DEMCHAK It was released last week
Hate the p80 notch cut out
Dude i called lipseys they said they werent available to purchase yet
They’re in the stores now.
Been out for about a week now
Glock is a one trick pony, all show no go.

@@burmiester1 now that I will agree on. I apologize for my harsh words earlier. Glocks should never cost more than $200...ever
burmiester1 I find that Glock’s fail when you need them most. And you can’t use +P or +P+ in them.
This glock is different from the one I got from *mrmasterglock on wickr* the one I got, has a switch them told me it a new gun!!!
