  • I was diagnosed with herpes in 2011. That doesn’t sound like it was too long ago and that we haven't had to many changes but really, when you think about it we’ve had a ton of technological changes. Let me take you back to 2011. There was google, but it wasn’t what it is today. There was Facebook and Instagram, but neither had the impact that they have today. So what I’m trying to say is that there wasn’t the information out there that there is now. When I googled herpes, or who had herpes back in 2011, the only information that came up was something very sterile from either WebMD or Planned Parenthood that just gave the facts about herpes but didn’t help with the stigma. I think I logged off feeling worse about myself than when the doctor told me about my diagnosis.

I recently had a weird isolated bump on my lady parts. I tested negative for HSV 1 & 2 on the PCR & IGM test. But positive for HSV 1 on the antibody test. I have never had an outbreak anywhere so I am totally confused by my antibody blood test results. Hopefully someone can help.

Often people are asymptomatic and never show symptoms for herpes.

I’ve done 4 blood tests in the past 2 and a half years and they all came back negative , but even with all that I get symptoms that seem like they are herpes , those test tested for more then just herpes and it was all negative , I hate that I get symptoms but the test are negative idk what to think or what to do, also should I disclose this to future partners even tho it’s not even forsure then I have anything ? I’m way to scared to do that

If you have symptoms, you can ask for a swab test and this will be more reliable than a blood one
