very true. my cousins ex fiancé came home from service and for no reason just beat the shit out of her. however i had an uncle who was in the service who died saving his wife. i know a few people in the service and the majority of them are crazy so you never really know
Desley Id like to think the cops wouldn’t hide shit like that but i wouldn’t put it past them if the fucking united states military is. i really want to enlist too, but i’m worried about all that shit. When i was talking to my dad about this video he got really suspicious about it and decided if i’m gonna enlist to go to college first and see from there.
Jordan Alexandria Well he could have started hitting her after which could be PTSD. But anything can be happening behind closed doors. Still a shitty thing to happen to her, I hope she’s doing well!

My dad and two brothers are veterans. My dad told me to NEVER date a soldier. The sincerity in his eyes when he said it, he didn't have to say much else
Your dad was completely right. Once you give yourself to the military as a man, there's a kind loss of their humanity that's unable to be saved. They'll break you and never think twice. Edit: there are exceptions to every rule, but for a woman's sanity, I understand why this lady's father told her what he did. The military changes a person, and sometimes not for the better. As always, I do not mean all, but there are too many examples to not listen to her father's advice.
@@stormangelus6638 only small men do that. And they would either way, military is just an excuse. I'm a Veteran, my husband is a Veteran as well; and you wouldn't find a better, kinder, more loyal loving husband. Even after almost 25 yrs.
Pretty much. My nephew mentioned how they had curfew over in Japan after one of the Americans (military) raped some girl. I felt sick to my stomach. Piece of shit!
Amber Clemons I want to say late 2000's to early 2010's. He was a Marine. Wish I knew more, sorry. He joined soon after graduation. His mom, my sister passed when he was 12. And both parents were in the Army.
Jordie Fowler makes me so sick!! All these men on a power trip think they can get away with anything, and the poor system just shows them that they can! 😭 sickening
Imagine the feelings her father must have had going through all this having served for the military himself and then betrayed by them. So disheartening and maddening, something he gave his life to.
Alot of veterans wake up after realizing their lives don't matter to our govt. My dad always tried to help Vietnamese people, he wanted to make things right with them.
This is one of the most upsetting things I have EVER heard, and it cements my distaste and distrust for the United States military. My heart breaks for her father, who devoted his life to the Army only to watch them try to cover up the death of his child. It is f*cking devastating.
I just found bailey not that long ago... and hearing this brings back so much to me. I almost got assaulted but my best friend walked in because he heard me screaming get out. My heart breaks for get family 😔
As a female veteran who has suffered similar traumas I want to thank you for covering a story like this. It happens too much. Men are almost never prosecuted. It’s disgusting. You’re amazing, thank you again.
First off, I want to extend my wholehearted thanks to you for serving. I have so much respect for you. You chose to stand up and defend of those of us that can't defend ourselves. That's the highest calling that I can imagine. That being said, it seems, to me, at least, that there's an underlying belief in the military that, when these assaults occur, the men that commit them are simply 'showing' their victims how they would be treated by an actual enemy. It's as if they see it as extra training that some 'soldiers' have taken it upon themselves to selflessly volunteer to instruct the women in. You know, since they can't make it an official part of bootcamp (or any other form of training) because the general public just couldn't/wouldn't understand the need for it. It's disgusting. I am so impressed by your refusal to be cowed by the experience and the resilience you've shown by not allowing it to break you down. There is simply no way that I could thank you enough for showing me a strength of character that I can aspire to possess. You are my personal hero. You are amazing.
This one got my blood boiling the most! I wish I didn’t watch this one- how utterly fu**ing disgusting. She was helpless and literally tortured!! I hope they meet their consequences in this life and in the next.
This actually made me cry, I've binge watched a ton of Bailey's true crime videos and this is the only one that had me shaking and crying. I cannot imagine how her parents must have felt...... RIP
This is unfortunately how the U.S. Army operates. I'm a Army veteran myself, and they cover up crimes and incidents all the time. My condolences to the Johnson family, no one deserves what happened.
@@taniasanchez1383 not every place your stationed is like that but it is one of those things where you have to watch out for yourself. Just because you “have” battle buddies to your left and right and those are your “ brothers and sisters” in arms doesn’t make them your family. Always have your guard up and pay attention to your surroundings. Currently 2yrs in the army
A huge huge H U G E RESPECT for her dad for doing the investigations on his own. A lot must've been going on on his head, his emotions, and yet he manages to get on his feet and try to get to the bottom of this tragedy. I know that he was a soldier and he might have been exposed to gruesome stuff but this is different. No level of torture can level with losing your daughter to people who have the capability of covering up the whole story and get away with it.
As a former us army female veteran I’d say whoever assaulted her sexually was probably of high ranking or of a very important status to go so far and irresponsibly try to cover up the horrendous things he or they had probably done to her .. it wouldn’t be the first time that shit like that has happened in the armed forces ...we always here stories about sexual assault and cover ups happening ..thankfully I never saw it up close and personally... what I did see were drunk solider getting way too friendly with females thinking if they were drinking with them it was because she wanted it..😡 or thinking that because they were higher ranking they could get away with certain orders were they could put u in an uncomfortable situation. .. ... sorry for the rant 🤨
Thank you for your service ..Don't apologize. You just confirmed what this story is about basically. Im sure just cause you didnt hear about it where you were, doesn't mean it wasn't happening ya know. They (the female's) were probably told to keep their mouth shut. Smh its sad, yous put your life on the line, and are away from your families and work your ass's off just like the men do. Its not right in this day and age we're still not considered equal to them. And you saying it was probably someone of a higher ranking makes perfect sense.
Hmmmm higher ranking--like the general? Sorry I’m thinking this poor woman was basically tortured to the extreme to cover up evidence and I can only hope she passed out long before she finally passed. This story is just appalling to hear this done in our military from our soldiers to another soldier makes me sick. Then it’s covered up and this guy or guys get away with it.
I completely agree as a former Air Force veteran it gets swept under the rug. Especially if it's a high ranking soldier. I was ashamed for over 10 years for what happened to me when I was serving in the military overseas. I was raped and not only in the hospital for a week I had to have 2 surgeries and was told to keep my mouth shut or else. I was young and scared. I did have a battle buddy and she's the one who saved me unfortunately she was threatened to and she had alot more to lose then I did so we kept our mouths shut. And it was told I had kidney stones for the cover up. Almost 12 years later with major PTSD, I try and advocate against it. All I have to say is it's all bullsh*t when the military states they have zero tolerance for sexual harrassment.
I couldn't even imagine what this poor girl was going through alone. Then her parents having to fight this huge battle for years trying to figure out why and how their baby is no longer with them. This is horrifying on so many levels. I'm saddened deeply by this. Rest in peace my girl. I hope her parents get some peace some day and find out what really happened. Justice needs to be served.
As a woman in the military I always have another female battle with me when going to my higher ups, me and my girls are always with eachother we keep eachother safe and build one another up. It's definitely a "man's world" and we gotta stick together.
I'm really surprised her dad didn't prepare her for this. He probably either never experienced it himself as a man or thought not telling her would protect her 🤔
@@AirQuotes I don’t think it’s that. No parent wants to experience the worst happening to their child. Especially a veteran. Men are actually some of the highest unreported victims of assault in the military due to the sexist and patriarchal like hierarchy.
Military should not have a internal legal system. You are a normal member of the community, and you go in normal tribunal with normal lowyer and normal judge. Everything have to be public so you can't cover up. I can only immagin how many people got assaulted like your father, or beated, or threatened ore killed and could not report cuz people hided the thing. This is so bad
My theory is a higher ranking officer did this and had some lower enlisted soldiers to help him. There’s no way the army is going to cover this up and fight so hard for a lower enlisted personnel. This is soooo sick.
I dunno about that....the Army will definitely try to cover up something done by a lower ranking soldier, just so they aren't held responsible in any way. I mean, the family could see that as some type of negligence on their part.
Plus when I was in Iraq ( same time as LaVena) officers were the only ones who carried 9 mil’s. The enlisted carried M16’s. Sooo yeah big time cover up, I really hope the family and LaVena get justice and get her case re-opened.
My dad retired out of the Army after 30 years, he REFUSED to allow either myself or my sister to even look in the Army's direction because of this case
My ex was in the army for 10 years, green beret, said that he won't allow our sons to go into the army either. I definitely agreed with him. Guess those who have never served won't ever know what happens without actually serving..
My dad is a vet as well and he tried his hardest to change my mind. He finally told me enough horror stories I got so discouraged to join because of being female... not that being male means you are that much more protected.
I have an ex that 15 years after our breakup, decided to become a cop. Shortly thereafter, he decided it was cute to stalk me at work while he was on duty. My boss reported it to his Sargeant, then the Sargeant interrogated me and asked what I did to make him think we are friends......The next weekend, I'm on call for work and get 15 calls in 1 day from his agency. 😡
Sexual assault in the military is insanely common. I honestly can't count how many times I dealt with harassment or heard from others being harassed and even raped. In my case, I believe I was drugged. I was so young and confused as to why I would have done what I did but I had only had one drink so...yes it happens and it seems to never end. That was only one instance. Other attempts were made. I still take meds 22 years later. I only recently put it together that I my have been drugged. At least now I don't blame myself like I used to even though no ALWAYS means no, I still managed to blame myself somehow. My heart breaks so much for her and her family.
So glad that you’re doing as well as possible. It’s absolutely HORRIFIC what happens to females (and males) in the military, work places, etc. People in high places get away with WAY TOO MUCH. This needs to STOP, NOW!!!
Even as someone who’s been in over 13 years, the military has to be called out for this. They need to be called out for Fort Hood, Capt Crozier, for Vanessa Guillen, LaVena Johnson, for any service member who had been harassed or assaulted. It’s not a discredit against service members to call out the branches for what they have done wrong or put their members though unjustly.
Online it is said it's general Kevin Byrnes who killed her. As someone currently in the service it's hard for people to come out against a general. However times has changed and hopefully someone who got out comes forward, because someone still in won't due to fear of their career.
they are afraid.. its obvious its someone with power. or at least someone whos related to someone in power. nobody is going to until their dying day if they ever...
So interesting that the general wanted her to be more ”aggressive” because she was so soft-spoken. So often black women are told or it was assumed that we are already angry and aggressive. I've had people tell me I had an attitude and I was being difficult, despite being a soft-spoken person like Lavena. I just think that tidbit is interesting.
This triggered me!! YES!!!! I’ve heard that from a couple of my managers at one point. They said I am so “quiet” and self-sufficient. That I don’t “ask for much” so they assume I’m always “fine”. My response was that I come to do a job, if I need help I will ask for it. And by no means am I “quiet”... it’s a defense mechanism to stay sane and protect myself as a black woman and the typical stereotypes we receive from our counter parts. Especially in a corporate setting. NOW, if I were anymore outspoken than I feel I already am at work...they would be over me. It’s VERY interesting to watch... Wound stat! I’m screaming! The top of my ear was chopped off during a hair show and it would not stop bleeding. The medic used a form of wound seal to stop the bleeding. I literally had to run onstage shortly after. THAT PART OF THIS STORY DISTURBS ME AS WELL! This case makes me physically ill 🤢. The people involved in her death will only ruin themselves in the long run. I can’t stand it. They will pay. REST well, Lavena. ❤️
This makes me so freaking angry. She deserved so much better, both when she was alive and after she passed. It blows my mind that people can get away legally with giving a cause of death that is obviously not true! I hope her family find answers and get justice for her one day
What I hope is that everyone who was involved with covering up what happened to this poor girl has nightmares about it for the rest of their lives. As if they are reliving everything she went through until she died. That would be justice until someone tells the truth and real justice is served.
This video was posted a year ago and I’m just now seeing it. It breaks my heart because Vanessa guillen’s story just surfaced on the media. Women in the military are treated so poorly and it’s just sickening.
This story enraged me. This beautiful girl was so responsible, so thoughtful, so sweet... it’s so tragic that this happened to her. Those men will pay for what they did to her forever.
The injustices against women and people of color are horrifying, but unfortunately unsurprising. Thank you for talking about this case and I really appreciate the way you speak about cases involving people of color. They are so often glossed over and dismissed. Please don't stop this sort of coverage! I myself am mixed race, but very white-passing, so I don't fear for my life the same way a lot of other people of color do, but I feel for them and care about them and obvi want justice for them. I know a lot of white people feel the same way, but they just aren't exposed to these horror stories, and don't know how pertinent and prevalent of an issue it is. Keep up the good work! P.S. I love your makeup lol
Thank you so much for saying this! I totally agree. Women of color go through so much disgusting and disheartening and unfair things in this world. It breaks my heart and it's really terrifying. People DO need to speak up more about this and not gloss over it.
I think I cried on this one because why? Why? Such a bright young lady, just having her life dismissed in such horrific manner absolutely breaks my heart. I know this was 2 yrs ago, but you covered this one perfectly. I felt their pain in a way.
@@GlaamdTutorials When Bailey went into detail on how she was assaulted, I started crying.. like.. what monsters. They're all monsters. The person/people who murdered her. The people who covered it up. The people who realized things looked hella sketch and did nothing.
Omg same here I was shook like they are freaking monsters I’m like speechless of everything they did to her how can people be like that careless and heartless
I legit teared up when Bailey was telling the viewers to claw at potential assailants and get as much DNA under the victim's nails as possible. Just how serious she sounded and the fact that she even has to say something like that is heartbreaking.
Cover ups are pretty much the norm. TW, when I was assaulted by my ex who was in the military all they could say was that I was being bitter and that it didn’t happen. He got out honorably and I was left with ptsd and my name dragged through the mud. Thanks for posting this!
absolutely disgusting that people get away with this all because they're high in power.....makes you wonder how much it really happens :( my heart aches
It happens all the time. People in positions of power and authority, precious soldiers and all that crap included, have done inhumane things. Everywhere in the world, including the good old US of A. Just cos someone serves does not mean they're a good person, or that they automatically deserve respect.
I commend that husband for giving his wife mourning time while he investigated. Everyone deserves a husband like that, even though we aren't all fortunate to get SOs like that!
Wow, ladies - the truth from those who know, which is what I'm always interested in. Unbelievable what goes on in the military & also how veterans are treated. Thanks for these comments, really valuable.
@@losthope98 same, I was 2 lbs overweight, I was supposed to lose it then I'd be in, my aunt begged me to think about it for a year before I decided. Her dad all her brothers her husband were veterans but for some reason she didn't want me joining.
I'm sure I'm mirroring what others have said: I nearly joined the Navy after college and my godfather, who was still in the Navy, told me he would never allow it. He was so distressed that I actually listened to him.
When I was 17 I wanted to join the military and went and saw a recruiter and after that I told my dad that I already talked to someone and that I wanted to join. My dad was in the miltary and he said absolutely not and not because of war or anything like that. He said that if I were a boy he would support me in joining but because I'm a woman it would be to dangerous because of our own soldiers. He told me a few stories of women he was deployed with and stories other men had told him.... he told me men in the military are monsters.... nothing about this poor womans story surprises me...
That’s crazy you say that , cause when I hit 18 I wanted to join as well and my dad also told me stories and warned be about how rough it was for women , and things he saw
I've served in the Marine Corps and the army. When my baby cousin told me she wanted to join and wasn't gonna change her mind I told her straight up to go Marine Corps because it's a smaller, tighter knit organization. I knew that rapists exist everywhere, but I felt safer in the MC where they instill brotherhood and a sense of protection even towards us females. In the army my anxiety was through the roof, I never felt unsafe around specific people but I knew in general there weren't many people I could trust or reach out to should anything happen to me. I told her this and she says it really made her understand things much more. It's hard convos to have, but they must be had. I'd be doing her a disservice by not talking about the dangers and possibilities for us women.
As a Army vet myself, I have to say-- Nothing could be more real or true. I was assaulted, and told that while I was overseas my LTC "owned my body" and could do as he pleased. When I got back to the states, all of my reports were nowhere to be found. There was literally no proof that I had turned anyone in. I will always send thoughts to this sweet girls family.
As a female veteran, this story has always stuck with me. People think SO highly of military members and think this stuff could never happen but OH BOY they are wrong.
I think most men that join the military are those like incel school shooters. Then they get muscular and hot and have an ego but carry all their toxicity. I never understood the automatic respect for military members like y’all signed up for it
You know what? I never thought about scratching the shit out of your attacker!!! Thank you for saying that!! That’s something I’ll pass on to my daughter. Lord forbid! Good to know! I’m such a true crime buff and I’ve never thought about that or had any one say that!! You a smart 🍪😉
There's a documentary about self defense I saw years ago that said that if you can reach your attacker's eyes, to try and press your fingers (or if you have long nails, then your nails) into their eyeballs. The pain will make them let go of you and they will be disoriented enough for you to get away. Then there's the classic kick in the balls strategy.
I’m sure MR. JOHNSON, Lavena’s father appreciates you speaking about what this corrupt government did to her and for you just putting it out there and using your platform ❤️ thank you.
Please please please make a video about Vanessa Guillen!! She was killed inside Fort Hood military base in Tx. She was sexually assaulted and all of a sudden disappeared after wanting to call out the person, she was found almost two months after dismembered and burned mixed in cement dug in dirt and the man supposedly “killed himself” and justice has not been served!!!
I hope she does a video on this!! Most of my friends who served went to fort hood and they all said it’s literally the worst place to be. So sad they even so it’s “no place for women”
If she was being treated for an STD from a prior assault, I wonder if the guys that abused her/killed her contracted it. If it was a different guy/guys, Would be interesting to see who was treated for that same STD right after her death
This gets me so damn angry!!! I applaud all of our individual military personal who sacrifice and devote their service, but I do NOT respect the corrupt higher ups who seek power over anything. Or those who refuse to acknowledge the issues of the system.
I looked into this case after I watched your video and if you get on Facebook and look up her page in some of the comments there's a picture of a four star general named Kevin Byrnes who they said was the one that did it.
Military is VERY corrupt. Dad was in the military and they listed that he “shot himself” with a gun on the right side when he’s left handed, making him blind but gave him a honorable discharge. Then promoted the guy who shot him 😡. They didn’t even service connect him.
Female Veteran here as well, I just started this story; but I don't like when people automatically calls anyone who serves(d),"hero". A lot are monsters. I had to choose between my career and pressing charges against "the guy", who was a marine. It's been 20 Years and it's still upsetting.
@@shakia_says I didn’t say it was over. As the blm movement started its made a lot more people aware of these kinds issues. You sound like you are speaking from experience regarding justice, please share?
@Old Yt Account Unfortunately they don’t care about your personal demeanor. You could be the most boisterous, confident person and they’ll do it to you to make you submit. They attack who they please, your personality means nothing. Male, female.. it’s sick
I don’t see comments like this surrounding Vanessa Guillan death from fort hood, may she Rest In Peace as well. But the point is, the army in general is a dark place, not worth spending our lives there
I am beyond thankful that your using your platform to tell her story. She needs justice and I hope they catch whoever did that to her. I joined the Army in 2008 and didn't understand why during basic training the Drill Sargent's made us have battle buddies especially the women. They also hammered teaching women self defense techniques. I heard of her story and other womens too and it literally made me angry and broke my heart. I was very naive and trusted my fellow soldiers not thinking that any of them would hurt a another soldier. I saw and heard some sketchy things but thank goodness I smartened up quickly and nothing serious happened to me during time. The Army is very misogynistic. And the men can be very aggressive. The higher up on the totem pole in rank the more they could get away with. If you think the men are aggressive to their fellow women in arms then what do you think they did to those women in foreign countries.
Nah. They actually have less access to foreigners because of the Geneva code or whatever was passed after the first couple years of war in the middle east after 9/11. Harming the citizens around them would open the army up for negative press and there are plenty people around to report it. The army does not have such a tight grip on foreign citizens. So no, unfortunately the women in the army are endangered by their own friends.
@@PERRYOL true but 9/11 was only 20 years ago. Her statement is still true in a sense. Imagine those poor foreign women. I'm from a military town and sooooooo many middle aged Korean and Pilipino women still speak little to no english live here with kids/grandkids they had with a military man they don't even love/like.
I'm glad that you did this video. I firmly believe something was happening to her and it was an absolute cover up. And real talk I don't think they would have gotten away with covering it up if she wasn't a black woman. I believe she was sexually and physically abused and she was going to name her accusers and they wanted to shut her up. I can't even imagine how horrible her death was. It makes me so angry
Amanda Summers Let’s not pretend like there’s not a special disregard for life some people have when it comes to black people. Michelle is absolutely right.
All this young woman wanted was to be independent and work her way through college. She just wanted to make her family proud. This is disgusting. This young woman deserves JUSTICE. LaVena Johnson deserves the truth to come to light.
I currently serve. Been lacing my boots for 10 years now and everytime I come across this story it makes me so mad. This was definitely a cover up and I just hope someone who was there and know what happen, their guilt eats them alive and they tell what happen. This family deserves closure
This is a very known fact that women are treated poorly in the military. 3 out of 4 women in the military are assaulted in some way. If you didn’t see the pictures would you have even known her race? Because it wasn’t brought up in the story.
I could barely stomach this story. I always feel bad for the victims in crime stories but this one hit me hard. I'm crying and angry and frustrated at this injustice. I wish there was something I could do.
You should cover the missing soldiers/remains found in fort hood. Vanessa guillen whose family is just now finding her remains after MONTHS of pressing the army on why they just cleared out her bunker like no biggie and zero explanation. Also had told her family she was sexually harassed by a sergant before "disappearing". And gregory Wendel-Morales whose been missing since August of last year!
This case is incredibly heartbreaking and infuriating. This beautiful, strong woman deserves proper justice. My heart goes out to the family for having to not only deal with this incredible tragedy but also investigate it themselves. I pray LaVena and her family get justice.
Words cannot explain how sorry I feel for this family. Losing their daughter is bad enough but not being able to have answers with the government stonewalling them. I will definitely pray for this family! PS: you need to get a cool old school phone to use when you make a call during the episodes!
Anger doesn't even begin to describe what I feel hearing this poor, young girl's story. I can't even imagine going through any of what she did and for the government to actively cover it up is just beyond abhorrent. My thoughts and prayers go out to LaVena and her family, may she rest in peace.

@@shamiraclethomas7417 And making a generalization that we should respect the military MORE than the general public is also wrong. This one has me so fucked up, I'm not even surprised the military is capable of something like this though, my god my heart breaks for her and her family.
Battles (Battle Buddies) are so important. They are basically a person that you really trust with your life and belongings. Sometimes it's someone you trust enough to say there's a problem can you have my back. It's like a higher form of a best friend. It's a very special title to be called someone's "Battle". I feel horrible for her that she felt so alone that she didn't even have a battle.
I am literally brought to tears and I haven't even begun watching this episode. What happened to her is just unspeakable and it has happened to so many who served in the military. It's still breaks my heart that there was another female soldier who was welcomed as a hero and didn't even fire her M16 but this young woman died tragically this way and o this day the army will not come clean about what happened to her. Her death hit me to the core and I have spoken about her many times. Bailey, Thank you so much for sharing her story. that makes me sad since both of my sisters are with ex military men :(
Married a war veteran. Never abused but he did leave me for another woman he was cheating on me with. I will never date another veteran.

A huge huge H U G E RESPECT for her dad for doing the investigations on his own. A lot must've been going on on his head, his emotions, and yet he manages to get on his feet and try to get to the bottom of this tragedy.
Hmmmm higher ranking--like the general?

Keep that UP!! It’s a mans military and we HAVE to stick together. My contract ended not too long ago and maannnn the amount of RELIEF 🥲

My theory is a higher ranking officer did this and had some lower enlisted soldiers to help him. There’s no way the army is going to cover this up and fight so hard for a lower enlisted personnel. This is soooo sick.
Exactly what I was thinking !!
Agreed.
You could be surprised tbh of how many things you can get away with in the military. Regardless of your rank.
Same with both of my retired military parents. Both didnt want me to join. Our parents are the ones who know the real truth of the military.
Think of all the brilliant women minds and talents our military is missing the benefits of because they would rather "let boys be boys..."
My ex was in the army for 10 years, green beret, said that he won't allow our sons to go into the army either. I definitely agreed with him. Guess those who have never served won't ever know what happens without actually serving..
My husband's grandfather who was in the military also forbid my husband and his brother from even talking about joining.
My dad is a vet as well and he tried his hardest to change my mind. He finally told me enough horror stories I got so discouraged to join because of being female... not that being male means you are that much more protected.
I was always told never to get involved with soldiers or cops for this very reason. A brotherhood of liars and abusers.

Sexual assault in the military is insanely common. I honestly can't count how many times I dealt with harassment or heard from others being harassed and even raped.
In fact, I think it would make them look MUCH better to take a strong stance against these issues.
Old video but someone must have known SOMETHING and they need to come forward. That's so terrible the military just covered it up.

The injustices against women and people of color are horrifying, but unfortunately unsurprising.
Bless your dad for informing from his own experiences! It’s sad that this is one double standard we have to keep up just to protect.
That’s crazy you say that , cause when I hit 18 I wanted to join as well and my dad also told me stories and warned be about how rough it was for women , and things he saw
:( glad i didn't join
And then you have the Vanessa Guillen years later, may their and all other souls who've suffered this way have peace
I don’t think highly of them. Not all. I met some IRL and I knew a lot are airheads with big egos.
Thats why they always check for dna under the nails in crime shows.
Also not letting them take you to the second location
There's a documentary about self defense I saw years ago that said that if you can reach your attacker's eyes, to try and press your fingers (or if you have long nails, then your nails) into their eyeballs. The pain will make them let go of you and they will be disoriented enough for you to get away.
Then there's the classic kick in the balls strategy.

I had to choose between my career and pressing charges against "the guy", who was a marine. It's been 20 Years and it's still upsetting.
I hope after the BLM movement this has been reopened. She gave the ultimate price for her country and this how they treated her. She deserves justice!
What do you mean after the BLM movement? It’s ongoing. Hopefully it’s picked up enough steam but it’s hard to get justice from the military.
But the point is, the army in general is a dark place, not worth spending our lives there
BLM doesn’t care about cases like this.
You dead ass have almost 140k people excited for Monday’s. You’re such an underrated TH-camr. I love you
I am beyond thankful that your using your platform to tell her story.
4 years later and this is still the MMM that sticks with me the most.
Because of the on going investigation for SPC Vanessa Guillen they are reopening this case.
Really? That's amazing! I hope they make an example out of this monster!
To this day. Still no answers.
@@MrsDebbieHoon really?!?
🙏🏽 thank goodness they are. I want to see justice for her and others now and not 30-40 years later when the culprits may be dead and gone.
They are protecting a higher up. Someone in the chain of command.
And she was harmed with a 9mm only military PO carry or the Sargent or the L

As a female vet, this story hit hard. I remember when it happened. You are right there's a lot they don't want out. Sad.
This story is now blowing up. We are calling for justice!
Well you must not know of the cover ups of women of ALL races in the military.

This 👏 👏 👏
I currently serve. Been lacing my boots for 10 years now and everytime I come across this story it makes me so mad. This was definitely a cover up and I just hope someone who was there and know what happen, their guilt eats them alive and they tell what happen. This family deserves closure
When people say “black life’s matter” these are the story’s people are taking about.
Yes!!!
Amen
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
YES!👏🏼👏🏼
This is a very known fact that women are treated poorly in the military. 3 out of 4 women in the military are assaulted in some way. If you didn’t see the pictures would you have even known her race? Because it wasn’t brought up in the story.
I’m livid at this story my children will NEVER get my blessing to go to the military‼️ Thanks for covering this story
I could barely stomach this story. I always feel bad for the victims in crime stories but this one hit me hard. I'm crying and angry and frustrated at this injustice. I wish there was something I could do.
NEVER!
Now one of the people of interest is found dead smh 🤦🏼♀️
sadly, they considered him AWOL so he gets buried with no military honors, nor does his family get any benefits. :/
@@leslycastro9431 what?!?

This case is incredibly heartbreaking and infuriating. This beautiful, strong woman deserves proper justice. My heart goes out to the family for having to not only deal with this incredible tragedy but also investigate it themselves. I pray LaVena and her family get justice.
For everyone asking about a documentary it's called the Silent Truth
Where can I watch it?
You can watch it on Amazon Prime and Vudu.

Thank you!!!
That's devastating, and I can't imagine the strength of her family to fight so hard for answers through such aggressive pushback and shutdowns.
Words cannot explain how sorry I feel for this family. Losing their daughter is bad enough but not being able to have answers with the government stonewalling them. I will definitely pray for this family!
PS: you need to get a cool old school phone to use when you make a call during the episodes!
They were protecting multiple men. It had to be a group for them to be motivated to take the cover up that far.
🎯
Or a general… maybe the one she was yelled at by for being to soft spoken…
This is just disgusting. Poor girl, poor family. 😢
This story affected me the most. That poor girl, it's just so tragic, my heart breaks for that family
The glove were removed and they found additional acid burns to her dominant hand the one she would have used to pull the trigger
@Aeriel Kozimor where did u learn this info?
@@rachelleensor3147 probably the documentary linked in the description box.
Anger doesn't even begin to describe what I feel hearing this poor, young girl's story. I can't even imagine going through any of what she did and for the government to actively cover it up is just beyond abhorrent. My thoughts and prayers go out to LaVena and her family, may she rest in peace.
I would imagine this happens a lot in the army, unfortunately.
Crazy how we’re expected to respect these people.....
not all of them are horrible people. making a generalization like that is wrong
@@shamiraclethomas7417when people defend those who are wrong just because they are in the same profession they become a part of the problem, especially when it’s your “boss,” it’s a never ending cycle and has been happening for years. so no, I don’t really care if someone served or not what I care about is their morals and how they treat others.
You're not expected to. If you serve, you respect the rank, you are not expected to respect the person. It's a plus to be able to respect them, but nobody expects you to.
@@shamiraclethomas7417 exactly.
@@shamiraclethomas7417 And making a generalization that we should respect the military MORE than the general public is also wrong. Those people are the general public, and many of them are just as bad as the worst in normal society. And this is coming from someone who used to be in the Army.
That's not to say that the military shouldn't be thanked for their service, but I'm not going to respect someone JUST because they're in the military.
Her father seem like such a strong, caring, father! My heart breaks for them!
Honestly I appreciate how respectful Bailey is here to the family and while sharing the story.
There have been some other crime stories narrated that felt like it could be seen as distasteful by the family and upset them so... thought I’d appreciate this one
This one was heartbreaking. I love that you did it though. Who knows? You bringing more attention to this case might help. You do such a great job telling these stories, I just love watching you, this series was genius on your part, so original. Thank you!
RIP Laverne Johnson & Vanessa Guillen 💞 (11.29.20)
Say their names. Vanessa Guillen and Lavena Johnson. And to the many more victims that we don't know about.
This is, without a doubt, the saddest and most unbelievable story I’ve ever heard. My heart breaks for this family. I’m a military spouse and astounded at this obvious cover-up. Thank you for covering this.💗
...My heart can't decide whether it's more angry or sad right now. I hope her family gets/got justice for her. And I also hope anyone who did her wrong gets a painful incurable cancer in jail.
Thank you for covering LaVena Johnson's story.
People like me who have a small platform have kept her memory alive in honor of the Johnson family so no one would ever forget what happened to her. Everyone who sees this video please keep her name alive. Maybe someday her family can heal.
