I enjoy this piece very much. I have struggled with the descending arpeggios before the soprano section. Same with the frantic section after the broken arpeggios. This lecture is a boon
hey josh, wondering if you’ve seen the Russian Music Publishing edition? it seems to similar to PWN as far as being a nation urtext. i’d recommend checking it out, i just got three of them in the mail and they’re definitely my favourite rachmaninoff publisher
Hi Josh. I made it through the first 16 bars (not without problems though), thanks to this lesson. Very helpful indeed. I do notice that Horowitz comes in kind of strong straight away on those notes in the left hand - th-cam.com/video/VeAsgMIRcAU/w-d-xo.html . And yet Evgeny comes in a lot lighter as you suggest - th-cam.com/video/1zVL4tG2OnE/w-d-xo.html . I suppose that in the end it's up to ones own interpretation. And yet his own performance of the piece here (in 1921) shows a very light touch in the left hand right from the start - th-cam.com/video/qNDz3-Uaf6o/w-d-xo.html
You're a good man. I'm learning this piece for my ABRSM diploma and your suggestions have been invaluable. God bless you Josh.
What a surprise that Josh chose one of my favorite songs. Thank you so much!
May your mum and dad have a long and healthy, happy life, Josh!

Thx brother Josh ♥️

It is a very nice piece! The little bit you played at the beginning was so musical. I also like his Prelude in G major, too. That’s another nice one.
Working on this now with Prof Cionco, thanks Josh
Thanks for this video Josh! Could you make one explaining how to play cantabile? Thank you!
Search “josh wright voicing” and “josh wright tone quality” on TH-cam and some relevant videos will come up that will help you with that topic
Thank you❤

at the end of his recording Rachmaninoff is actually smuggling his Dies Irae into the piece 😅
