    I owned a supercharged '95 Lightning. It was a really strong runner. Shift kit, Vortech, MSD, Borla, etc. BadAss. No truck on the street would touch it!

    I owned a 1993 pretty much the second they came out, mine had the tubular painted to match bumper, First mod was to throw away most restrictive factory exhaust, Full length 4" duals with 5" chrome tips. It just woke that truck up like nothing i owned ever. Sounded like a offshore race boat. Within the first 90 days i needed rear tires which we found out real quick that they didn't exist yet. Firestone took over 2 months to get me replacements in south Florida. 1.38 a gallon for Sunoco 94 went in those dual tanks..lol

    I bought a '92 Flareside I enjoyed very much, blue with the silver at the bottom, of course the Lightning came available in '93. Always wanted one. So in '02 I traded the Flareside for a red '02 Lightning. Really loved that truck, it almost got me in trouble a few times lol. I sold it a few years ago, and I really missed it. Anyway when I retired I bought a '73 Mach 1 351C. I can only dream of what this drivetrain would do in it, but due to costs I'm sticking with the 351C. I've owned nothing but Fords all my life, with no regrets. Btw no LS for me! Ever! Thanks again Evan!

Roll up windows. 2 wheel drive. 300 straight six. I drove it when I was like 6 cause we lived in a farm town. He sold it a long time ago. Maybe 2005 or 2006. Dang that’s a cool truck. Even without the supercharger it’d be cool. NA built Godzillas are no joke either. Never been a Ford guy, but as long as I can remember I’ve been a fan of the 1st gen Lightnings. 2nd gens too. Ford has always managed to do their sport trucks right up until factory sport trucks dropped off. GM has always done water flavored vanilla “sport” trucks. 454SS should’ve had the L98 or TPI 350 out of the F-body instead of a box stock tow truck 454. Don’t even get me started on the 2000’s SS.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 454 has a ton of potential once modified properly though. It may not have been much in stock form but a good set of heads and a nice cam can change that drastically. I'm a Ford guy but it's cool they put a big block in a regular cab short bed 1500 in the 90s.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think too many v6 sedans are gonna be "dusting" a gen 1 lightning off the line they went 14s stock and could get deep into the 13s with some minor tweaks. Do alot of modern v6 sedans run close to that or similar sure but running similar isn't "dusting" people exaggerate basic modern cars yea we've came a long ways but not quite as far as some wanna stretch it to be. It's not a mid 70s beginning of the smog era 150 hp big block it actually has ok performance especially off the line with the 4.10 gears and 351 torque.

  • @chesspiece81
    @chesspiece81 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is such a cool build, but that 7.3 needs some drop in forged rods and pistons, CNC heads, cam, smaller supercharger pulley, and bigger crank pulley. There is so much power left on the table with just a stock 7.3 and 3.0 Whipple.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome.. Loved the Gen1s. Though for all the hype that's gone into the Godzilla online, to only see it in customs and swaps outside of being the gas option for newer F250s? Its way overhyped if it's really just a crate engine and a gas option in the 3/4 tons. Compared to the very little marketing dodge has put into the Hellephant or how GM did the 632 as more of a drag race option. You'd hope Ford with all those CAFE credits from the Hybrids and MachE sales they'd make it available in the Mustang or F150s.. but I guess they don't want to outshine the 5.0 Coyote lol

      Me too man people just don't get that few tenths et in return for losing a majority of the driving fun just isn't worth it to alot of guys including myself. I'm manual till I die. If you can drive they can still go fast you can easily be within 3 tenths or so from an auto with the driver mod. There is always somebody faster. I'd rather have a 10 flat et vehicle with a stick than a 9.6-9.7 one with an auto. If it's a straight drag vehicle that you drag race competitively at the drag strip for money it's different but most of these auto is faster fanboys don't even competitively race their vehicles at the drag strip. Give me the stick all day. No bs no trans tuning the Trans tuning is in the nut behind the wheel. Its all up to you with a stick.

      The 4.6 was a good engine especially the 4v. Ever heard of an 03/04 cobra? That is a pretty badass 4.6. People wanna compare them to modern engines usually with alot more displacement. They held their own in their time for what they were. The 4.6 wasn't a "turd". I mean they was getting 300 hp from a basic sohc 4.6 in 2005 that is decent power for the displacement for its time. The coyotes have more displacement, vct, dohc heads, alot more rpm and alot more compression. The 4.6 did just fine for the time it was around ecsp the 4v versions they could keep up pretty well with ls1s of the day and could dust lt1s both of which had 1.1 liters more displacement. The 03-04 Mach was a stout performer for an na 4.6 in its day they were rated 305/310 hp respectively between 03 and 04 but really had 330+ hp as they dyno sometimes over 280 to the wheels bone stock. They could definitely hold their own in their day and the engine certainly isn't a "turd" it is an earlier more primitive and smaller coyote with 1-2 points less compression and no vct. Vct allows the coyote to run much more aggressive stock cams having the ability to control them like that they can be more aggressive and still drive good with good idle and good torque down low for its displacement this is a big help making power. It's not that hard to see why the coyote makes the power it does but for its day the 4.6 4v Def held its own. You can do a 5.0 stroker older 4v with 11-12:1 compression like a coyote with ported heads that match or exceed stock coyote heads and aftermarket cams to make up for not having vct all the sudden that old 4.6 makes comparable power to the new 5.0 because at that point its pretty similar in an older more primitive way.
      Long story short the 4.6 was not a bad engine at all and eventually led to the coyote the 5.4/5.8 mod motors from the older gt500s were also badass engines. Ford made plenty of good mod motors. Ford can design a great pushrod there isn't anything difficult about it. You make power with displacement instead of rpm and dohc heads. Just different ways to make power.

    Not a "Godzilla," unless it's a GT-R Nissan.
    8.3L V10 Dodge isn't a Gozilla, then neither is a V8 at 7.3L

    and then ford "honored" the name by slapping it on an ev. btw please stop calling the engine "godzilla". why name a full-blooded american engine after japanese science fiction? jeez...
