Fonda is so endearing in this episode. To see such an incredible actor in a TV series then is incomparable as to seeing how brilliant he was now. So long ago. The cast must have been enthralled to work with him, and how lucky, AND to have Joanne Woodward directing this episode-- wow.

I think there were four. One appeared in Timmy's christening episode. Another appeared in two episodes: the Christmas episode with Sheree North and the one where they discover Doug's sister is an alcoholic. David Wayne appeared in another episode and now Henry Fonda.

There are classic B & W movies. What my sister who is 72 likes to watch and Hallmark movies. She likes Heartland. I don’t watch that. Sometimes I watch a Hallmark movie. For years I watched The Waltons and before that Little House On The Prairie. I watched Highway to Heaven and Touched by An Angel. One of my favorite Highway to Heaven episodes was the one with the man who thought he was King Arthur and he had a grown son. Loved that episode. I think I saw about all of The Waltons episodes as reruns. When Family came out I was married and my husband watched something else. I remember it. But I don’t remember any of the episodes. I remember the pictures on the piano. Not a show my husband would like. That’s OK. Found these videos in 2022 and still watching in 2023. New to me. Some of the episodes I like better than others. This is a good one. I like when Kate’s mother came to visit them before she died. The Thanksgiving episode when they went to the Grandmother’s farm is a favorite.

I don't like the beard on Willie. Some guys look better in a beard but he's not one of them.
I remember my great grandma had dementia (called senility back then). My grandma was taking care of her so when we had them for dinner she came too. She would sit and mutter to herself the whole time. I felt sorry for her since it seemed she wasn't interested in doing anything.
