To help DDEYP & everyone out with a bit of info regarding Oil. As per the Owners manual, under Section 7, Pg 18. The recommended Oil for the CC524SWE is either 0-30 or 5-30, depending on expected outdoor temps or preference. Also mentioned is Engine oil capacity of 600ml / approx 20 oz. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much. I have the 524SWE and had no idea that's where the oil drain was. Makes my life so much easier. I just need to stop and pick up some 0W30 then.
Thanks! I have the 528 SWE and I couldn't figure out where the oil drain was so you helped a lot! I had my small engine guy service it every year but he retired so something simple like this it's easier for me to do than to find a new guy.
Hack info : I have two 9" cement blocks I put the tires on, and tip the machine way up it drains really well no need for the 10W30 rinse.. Thanks for sharing..!!
I could use some tips on setting the skids to the propper height and if you ever work on the belts, I would love to see that! (I'm a not-so-handy-man, so all the hints are appreciated).
I take a sheet of paper and fold it six times and put one on each side of the scrap edge and this will give you height that I use. It will leave very little on ground but keep you from hitting every bump. I have had this unit for while now and belt is still tight and never had to adjust yet.
Hey Del. That video was really cool. Some people, like myself, never even looked at any kind of engine til we buy our first house. Then we buy a snow blower and the dealer's like, be sure to run that engine and change the oil so all the machined bits and flakes come out before the season starts. The dealer stressed maintenance and that if properly maintained, the blower will last a good long time. I am gonna bookmark this video and do the oil before the snow flies here in the Hudson River Valley in New York. Thanks for the motivation! -- Nick
Thanks for watching. I agree the dealer always makes things sound easy and it is for $80 to $105 per hour plus parts. It's great to hear that someone was not paying those prices because of my video. If there is ever anything I can do to help please ask.
i was looking at my blower today as it's starting to get cold and thought "time to change the oil for the first time" 3 seasons old. Probably run about 15 hours so far..
Very nice, thanks for sharing! I have one question, I saw another fill/check yellow cap on the base of the motor, what is that one for, just another plug or for something else? (base of motor, left wheel side, more towards the front) Thanks, really helps motivate me, going to do it now!
The yellow cap you see is where you can fill the blower up after you drain the oil. It's just a second fill spot to get oil at the bottom of engine really fast if you had to use blower right away. If you fill from top the dealer would want you to wait little bit before starting the engine.
“The Book” is totally useless as far as changing oil and doing regular maintenance! Honestly! What about the OTHER oil check port? Do I fill or empty that oil? I see some high pressure splatter on my machine in that lower oil port area! There is no information anywhere on that port, please advise!
Not a shocker. I have 5 of these blowers and have found that 3 of them take different amounts of oil. Same engine but different amounts of oil. I found all this out after making this video.
My manual shows "fill with motor oil, capacity is 600 ml/20oz." www.manualslib.com/manual/1057953/Mtd-179cc.html#manual see page 6 (I hope this helps) I thank you for your videos, they are a true blessing to me!
I said 0/30 synthetic is what I bought for the machine. I used the 10w/30 to flush out the old oil to get as much nasty oil out as I could. I have different cub cadet snow blowers that say different types of oil. So be sure to read your owner's manual for correct specs. You could use the same oil to flush it out but at price of oil I choose not to because it's all going to drain out any how.
@@DelsLawnCare Thank You I am sorry for rude ( WTF ) I truly am , I was just mad at myself for not Knowing my own stuff so I looked it up I did buy 5W 30
@@dp6824 It's life we all make mistakes. We have these disagreements about oil all the time. We try to buy the same models and makes and it's crazy how they change type of oil from year to year but same engine. The guys want to just put 0/30 in all machines or 5w/30, but I'm OCD so I read each manual and label each unit what it takes.

its the most obvious spot in the world for any machine/car ive ever seen.
@@eddwinnas Everything is obvious once you know it.
I have the same one - 2011 528SWE - what type oil did you use for your replacement?

LAWNFORCE LLC Blake said hello. The last blower I might due review. 18 years old never changed oil.

Bryan Pinnguin I will have to get back to you on that I'm not 100% sure and machine is not here with me.
Ok, I can email a short video or picture if it helps. I appreciate the reply!
Bryan Pinnguin if you can email it to me.

It's that a special type of washer on the drain plug i lost mine
Thank you
Thanks for watching.
I didn't know how to do it! The book that came with it doesn't have any information on how
Del, terrific video! Thank you! By the way, how do you like that Ariens Melt Buddy ???
Thanks for watching. I wouldn't buy it. It was a total waste of money.
What size tool did you use to remove the screw on the oil plug
He said 10mm. near the end of the video. :)
maybe put the plow shoes under the front BEFORE draining the oil and the oil won't drip all over the back plate
Well That would work but you can't always make a perfect video. Sometimes you learn different things as you do them.
Does the 534 swe not have an oil filter? Thanks!
Phil u no oil filter.
How often to change 5w30 on cub cadet 2X 24 in. 208cc 2-Stage....every 50 hours or every year ?
Rem X I honestley would do it every season.
Once a year
not the fuel cap the oil cap!
