That's a good looking compact loco. The DCC decoder fitting using push fit is something I'm surprised isn't done generally in UK models in other scales. An extension would be to have the lamp irons wired up to allow push fit lamps with red or white/gold LEDs (to imitate paraffin lamps). A push of the relevant function key to control them, or wired for DC too

That’s actually a really good idea!

Really enjoyable review, Jen. A fantastic representation of the 1400 Class in model form too. She's one of my favourite class of tank engines.

Thanks! You won’t be disappointed with the loco.
The small layout was mostly built to make it easier to review O gauge items and also prove that a full working layout could be built in under 7 hours.

I love how you manually turn the model in your fingers for a 360 view

We do that to more closely emulate actually looking at the thing yourself.

The more I see of O Gauge locomotives like this, the more I kinda want to abandon HO and jump up, despite the additional costs. It does seem to be worth it for the great amount of detail they pack in. Great video Ms. Kirk.

If the O gauge thats available now had been around 13/14 years ago I would have never gone near G gauge/16mm. A fabulous model at an unbelievable price. Fabulous review too !

Hi Jenny great review of a brilliant little loco. I can remember one of these running from Kidlington, where I was born, to Woodstock for Blenheim Palace in late fifties. Funnily enough my order arrived in the post yesterday and I’m about to take it outside for a run on a test track in the garden.

Very well done Dapol, a great looking Engine. With an almost prefect score. Thank you Jenny for yet another nice review and video. Martin. (Thailand)

It's a very nice piece and from what I here, a keen price. Nice to see all the electronics so well tucked in. I won't personally be shifting to O Gauge myself but I can see the attraction in the simplicity of access. I've a 'Mainline' made OO Gauge copy(1466) and it doesn't like backwards...I think a pick-up is pressing too hard against the wheel but enough OO talk !:^) A nice example of Branch Line machinery. Nice review Jenny. Cheers!

Hi Jennifer...I just wanted to say thank you for such an interesting channel with some great reviews!.
I had a mystery part of my 0 Gauge 14XX suddenly appear after a minor incident...the fact that you held yours upside down for so long with a clear view help me finally find its correct position.😃
I'd have never have worked it out!
    Thank you again..
    Best regards
    David

A very good loco for the price but........where can you fit a smoke unit if you wanted to? Are those tool lockers on the front splashes removable as the 14XX/58XX engines were one class where virtually no two engines had the tool boxes in the same position. The old Scale Trains magazine in the 1980s had a list in an article on these engines noting the position on each engine of the toolboxes. Might be worth looking at if a copy can be found.

Excellent review. OO gauge models should be made with that magnetic cab roof and slide-in DCC decode as standard!

Hello Jenny, what a superb model, have they even included padlocks on the toolboxes on the running plates ? , all the best Stephen.

Hi Jennifer, I know this video is quite old, but has anyone pointed out that the pesky handrail is broken? the handrail should locate into the cab roof, a part of it is missing.
