I heard a quote from Harry Chapin “Be involved with the people with the live hearts, the live eyes, who are committed to something.” That fix Peter Gabriel perfectly.
I like this one. It sounds new, it sounds vintage and I even sense a dusting of Genesis at times. Maybe I'm alone on that but that doesn't matter...it works for me. ☺
Great song hints of Genesis and Peter Gabriel II (Scratch) eras in vocals, some The Police type instrumentation and song production only Peter Gabriel delivers. Should be on all radio playlists. NOW!!
We're so blessed to have this man who so cares about life and is always bringing such fine musical gifts to the table. He is such a treasure. I love you Mr .Gabriel!
Same here. Last night after reading my email from him, it still wasn't released so I cheated and listened to a live version from a European show. On Repeat the whole way home😍🎼🎶🎵👨🎤
I needed an Olive Branch of hope and strength today, and i woke up to a whole tree from Peter Gabriel! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us lunatics... happy full moon! 1 Aug 23 :)
Ive rocked for 50 yrs, Ive seen nearly 500 concerts in my day. This record has touched my soul and moved my body like nothing before it. Peter has hit the pinnacle of musical quality. Nothing is left unturned. Take a musical journey like no other before it listening to this album...
This song was excellent in concert. Gabriel said it’s from a current concept album project he’s working on. As upbeat as the song sounds, it’s about a person trapped in their body and unable to communicate with the outside world. At least that’s how Gabriel described it in concert the other night in Ottawa.
Love it! This is beautiful, meaningful music, completely in keeping with Peter's unique creative style but still evolving and moving forward as a beacon of wisdom. Some have complained, but I feel that this idea of new moon releases has been brilliant, allowing us to become immersed and familiar with the pieces and anticipating the next release. I for one am enjoying this journey immensely. In his 70's, Peter is absorbing and synthesizing more sources and generating art that feels more connected to deeper truths and rhythms that we recognize somewhere in the recesses of our souls. Maybe this is just mumbo jumbo that I'm spouting, but it feels that way to me, and I'm thrilled to be on this ride
Absolutely agree. The new moon releases have been a genius idea. Found myself looking up into the Tenerife sky last night (1st August) and wondering what the new PG track will be like..and it's excellent
Totally agree about the full moon concept. Ingenious except for the impatient (or whatever the problem is). Playing the songs in concert was also unique and brave.
immediate love. Everything that Peter produces makes me feel that his songs were in my life, and he draws back the veil through the years of his illuminated life.
I utterly adored this track when I saw you in Manchester (June 23rd 2023). The trumpets are so reminiscent of Genesis. So glad it's now been released for others to enjoy. Truly excellent song!!
LYRICS: [Verse 1] In the misty silver night My eyes fall to the ground I can feel it come alive In the seeds pushing out through the soil New life weaves its way out through the coil Nothing’s gonna hold this movement down [Pre-Chorus] I was apart from it My head in the sky With no ears to listen No light reached my eye There grows the fungi Still tied to its past For the melting of the solid world The change is coming fast [Chorus] And it’s, oh-oh! I’ve got the water falling on me It's all waking me up I’ve got the sunlight bright on my back Warming up all my bones I’ve got thе cool breeze right on my skin Bringing every cеll to life Making all connections live From one point to another And we’re all here, just the same Tryna' make some sense of it Where I’m going now How it fits together In the bigger shape of things [Verse 2] And I slide into the waves Leaving land behind It's another world I’m entering now There’s the shark pushing through the swaying reeds Predator and prey sort out their needs Nothing’s gonna hold this pattern down [Pre-Chorus] I was apart from it In a world of our own We lost all connection To the place from which we’d grown But here in this helmet I can read other minds And scan all the thinking All the juice I can find [Chorus] And it’s, oh-oh! I’ve got the water falling on me It's all waking me up I’ve got the sunlight bright on my back Warming up all my bones I’ve got the cool breeze right on my skin Bringing every cell to life Making all connections live From one point to another And we’re all here, just the same Tryna' make some sense of it Where I’m going now How it fits together In the bigger shape of things [Bridge] Water falls on me It's waking up the world Water falls on us Falling from the head Falling from the head Falling from the head Oh-oh! Oh-oh! [Chorus] Oh-oh! I’ve got the water falling on me I’ve got the sunlight bright on my back I’ve got the cool breeze right on my skin I’ve got the water falling on me Water falling on me
This song reminds me more all his older tracks. His voice still gives me chills. Can't wait to see him in September in DC. I will be sad after the concert not knowing when I will see him again.
PG has been around long enough to have used every possible connection of notes and words, so there is no longer such a thing as a "new sound" from him. That's a compliment, not an insult. So there's a comforting familiarity to his songs, and I will pause to take the time to listen to anything he gives us. Oh yes, this is certainly a PG song.
Well done Peter! We are getting old and wrinkly! The sound and the beat do not change! The music is out there if people will listen! Somethings are timeless, keep on!
I agree with previous commnets that I/O could be his best collective work yet. We saw the tour a couple of weeks ago...phenominal show...his band just killed it as usual...sound was excellent. It is so unusual to see an artist at this stage of life and career touring behind a new release and playing 11 of 12 songs from it live. Most artists of his vintage are touring behind greatest hits...nothing wrong with that but this is an ambitious project for sure...well worth the wait in my opinion.
Magnificent as always. From Charterhouse to now there is absoulutely no Peter Gabriel song or piece of music that I don't love. Now that to me is a stroke of genius.
Always exciting to hear a new song from you. And you never fail. ❤❤❤ wish you long years and never get tired to make music and bless the world with gifted genius talent and profession
I've heard a lot of musicians in my life... but it's special to realize that this voice has continued to fascinate me for about 50 years now.
It gets better every day. Amazing
Since '73 here!! ✌🏻
Same with me when I first heard Moribund The Burgermeister on a friend's mums cassette of the Car album back in 1982.
SO TRUE!!!
I heard a quote from Harry Chapin “Be involved with the people with the live hearts, the live eyes, who are committed to something.”
That fix Peter Gabriel perfectly.
I like this one. It sounds new, it sounds vintage and I even sense a dusting of Genesis at times. Maybe I'm alone on that but that doesn't matter...it works for me. ☺
AGREED. LOVE IT. IT'S INTRIGUING, YET HAPPY. FELT LIKE DANCING TO THE CHORUS. THIS ONE MIGHT EVEN WORK FOR TODAY'S RADIO...HOPEFULLY.
Agreed
My exact thought. Just a dusting.
You're not alone!
Yes he sings a bit like in Genesis days
Great song hints of Genesis and Peter Gabriel II (Scratch) eras in vocals, some The Police type instrumentation and song production only Peter Gabriel delivers. Should be on all radio playlists. NOW!!
Excellent. Nice blend of old Genesis, old solo stuff ("Sledgehammer") and two subtle nods to Paul Simon ("Call Me Al" and "Fifty Ways").
We're so blessed to have this man who so cares about life and is always bringing such fine musical gifts to the table. He is such a treasure. I love you Mr .Gabriel!
Great, has a Phil Collins vibe with the horns. And that's ok with me ! Saw him live Toronto Sept 11/23 , Fourth time in total, always an amazing show.
Excellent music! Your creativity is beyond reproach! 👏👏👏
it's not quite 4am and I'm jamming to this song in my bed... what a blessing from universe you are Peter Gabriel 💖
2am here. Same 😂
Same @ 5ish
Same here. Last night after reading my email from him, it still wasn't released so I cheated and listened to a live version from a European show. On Repeat the whole way home😍🎼🎶🎵👨🎤
Love this song! So upbeat! Happy Peter is still here and making incredible music! 🥰❤️💕
I bought the "I/O" 2 CD version (Bright and Dark), I got it on my car's pendrive, but I also listen to this on TH-cam!
impressive album, again...one of the greats
Peter you have made 2023 so much more bearable. Forever a fan.
I have listened to this song 100 times just today. Tomorrow my body is ready to receive it again.
I never tire of his beautiful timeless voice, awesome!
Master Peter Gabriel, absolutely magical music. Thank you. Good time for you
Thank You Peter Gabriel for good music.
Nothing like listening to Peter Gabriel at 3 a.m. Thank you!
It's 10:38am in England...
I wanna wish a Happy early 74th Birthday 🎂 to Peter Brian Gabriel!!!!
0:25
I/O is going to be his best yet, and that is saying something considering his back catalog! My favourite solo artist by a mile!
I think so too. Can't wait for the whole Album. I'm so thankful his music!!!
This album really comes alive live. i/0 and this song are highlights in the live show.
I needed an Olive Branch of hope and strength today, and i woke up to a whole tree from Peter Gabriel!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us lunatics... happy full moon! 1 Aug 23 :)
Since 10 days, i listen only Peter Gabriel with her news masterpieces !!!! 🎉🎉
This song sounds like a mixture of Peter‘s „So“ era, Phil Collins and Sting. Fantastic piece of music!
Exactly, just exactly what I was thinking 🎉.
Great song, really!!
So right 👍👍
I thought the exact same thing ❤
From the very first notes, an air of Invisible Touch - Genesis 👍
what's Sting got to do with it?
I can't stop listening to this song. Everything is breathtakingly beautiful: melody, harmony, arrangements, textures, the lyrics. Thanks!
Música de Peter Gabriel... inconfundible ..eterna .. inmortal.
Peter's voice is incredible. Like original Genesis❤
Surprised this hasn’t been released as a single. It would definitely chart well. Excellent song!
Le timbre de la voix

Mes respects

Shaping up to be an excellent album from Peter 😊
Unbelievable great track!

Peter ! Oooohhhhh oooohhhhhh
Peter grazie! grazie di esistere!!
This is flipping excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I 100% agree with you, my friend.
Absolutely agree. The new moon releases have been a genius idea. Found myself looking up into the Tenerife sky last night (1st August) and wondering what the new PG track will be like..and it's excellent
I also think this is a brilliant idea...according those creations to the new moon!
Totally agree about the full moon concept. Ingenious except for the impatient (or whatever the problem is). Playing the songs in concert was also unique and brave.
Feels like he is returning to his roots. Salt of the earth stuff. Less poppy... love this man❤
Every song released from this album so far has been brilliant. Looking forward to the Chicago show in September.
I am looking forward to the NY show also in Sept💃🏼🎶✨🎉💖🙏🏼🌹👍🏼
Well, be ready for one of your best musical experiences. I was at opening show in Krakow in may and I am still blown away when I think of it.
@@isamuelk I can't wait✨ So glad you got to see him👍🏼😎🎶 Thank you
You won't be disappointed. The songs live are even better.
BRILLIANT AS ALWAYS MR. GABRIREL... Thank you, Peter !
I love this so much.
The feel of this takes me all the way back to his first Car album, Here Comes The Flood especially. Really good feelings going on with this.
immediate love. Everything that Peter produces makes me feel that his songs were in my life, and he draws back the veil through the years of his illuminated life.
Totally agree...me too!
Love you forever Peter. Full ride all the way for Our blessed brother in Christ. Amen. Peace
SC
Amazing song!! I saw Peter Gabriel in Austin last night and the performance of this was one of the highlights of the evening!!!
I truly hope you receive multiple awards for the way you've unfolded this brilliant project.❤️
Peeetahhhhhhh- seeing the light in all creatures!!!!
Eight tracks in and I am blown away! I am so very thankful for many things and Peter Gabriel provides a soundtrack for us and to them. Awesome album!
I utterly adored this track when I saw you in Manchester (June 23rd 2023). The trumpets are so reminiscent of Genesis. So glad it's now been released for others to enjoy. Truly excellent song!!
LYRICS:
[Verse 1]
In the misty silver night
My eyes fall to the ground
I can feel it come alive
In the seeds pushing out through the soil
New life weaves its way out through the coil
Nothing’s gonna hold this movement down
[Pre-Chorus]
I was apart from it
My head in the sky
With no ears to listen
No light reached my eye
There grows the fungi
Still tied to its past
For the melting of the solid world
The change is coming fast
[Chorus]
And it’s, oh-oh!
I’ve got the water falling on me
It's all waking me up
I’ve got the sunlight bright on my back
Warming up all my bones
I’ve got thе cool breeze right on my skin
Bringing every cеll to life
Making all connections live
From one point to another
And we’re all here, just the same
Tryna' make some sense of it
Where I’m going now
How it fits together
In the bigger shape of things
[Verse 2]
And I slide into the waves
Leaving land behind
It's another world I’m entering now
There’s the shark pushing through the swaying reeds
Predator and prey sort out their needs
Nothing’s gonna hold this pattern down
[Pre-Chorus]
I was apart from it
In a world of our own
We lost all connection
To the place from which we’d grown
But here in this helmet
I can read other minds
And scan all the thinking
All the juice I can find
[Chorus]
And it’s, oh-oh!
I’ve got the water falling on me
It's all waking me up
I’ve got the sunlight bright on my back
Warming up all my bones
I’ve got the cool breeze right on my skin
Bringing every cell to life
Making all connections live
From one point to another
And we’re all here, just the same
Tryna' make some sense of it
Where I’m going now
How it fits together
In the bigger shape of things
[Bridge]
Water falls on me
It's waking up the world
Water falls on us
Falling from the head
Falling from the head
Falling from the head
Oh-oh!
Oh-oh!
[Chorus]
Oh-oh!
I’ve got the water falling on me
I’ve got the sunlight bright on my back
I’ve got the cool breeze right on my skin
I’ve got the water falling on me
Water falling on me
🙏🏻
Thank you much Love 💚
I'm grateful too have heard this. An inspiring work it is indeed. 💚💚💚
These are precisely the words, only much better phrases, I told my mum before she passed away, to take away the fear of death... Thank you
I LOVE this song!! 4:16-5:08 gives me chills!
Agreed as well the section of Playing for time
I think is as close to what a modern Genesis song could sound like with Peter. ❤
Great Peter, thanks you for coming back. I follow you from Genesis to revelation. You're the beter among the best.
My favourite track on this CD, although the whole album is brilliant! Thank you, Peter!
Thank You for All the great tunes and music thru the years from your Soul 🙏🎶
Ormai è diventato una rarità ascoltare un disco quantomeno decente...questo è un capolavoro. Qui Gabriel si porta sui livelli di So e Secret World.
thanks "big" Peter. Thank you for your music
J'ais impeu honte d'écouter ce nouvel opus, comme ça. Sans rien acheter, sans même sortir de chez moi. Merçi l'artiste.
Yet another brilliant song, and that voice!! Outstanding as ever.
Awesome track, thanks Peter!
so so good. lyrics that touch the soul
😊Merci. Magnifique 😊
A funky and uplifting track to deal with a heavy subject
Amazingly put together!! When you put headphones on, you can hear the musicianship and the creativity of PG and his band members. Always a treat👌👌👏👏🎶🎶
Thank you so much!
This song reminds me more all his older tracks. His voice still gives me chills. Can't wait to see him in September in DC. I will be sad after the concert not knowing when I will see him again.
Very beautiful masterpiece ❤👍👍👍
Inimitable Mr Gabriel ❤👍👍👍
an incredible journey into your world, gratitude for the fact that you are in my life
Semplicemente fantastica

Wonderful to hear this again, been waiting for it since I heard it live. Amazing song, yet again!
Another mesmerizing track!
Had the privilege to listen to the album under the moon at WOMAD, very moving experience
Well done Peter! We are getting old and wrinkly! The sound and the beat do not change! The music is out there if people will listen! Somethings are timeless, keep on!
thankyou Peter.
Instant Classic Gabriel! 2023!
I'm in tears my trip into Philly tonight was just cancelled. I'm in tears. I've never missed a Peter tour since the 80s.😢😢😢😢
This is for me the best song on this album. These magic chords remind me of songs like Back in NY, DIY and In Your Eyes. Thanks for the comeback.
The Tree of Eternity. Released on my sixtiest birthday. I love it. Thank you so much!
Nice...great vibes!!!! Happy Full Moon!!
I agree with previous commnets that I/O could be his best collective work yet. We saw the tour a couple of weeks ago...phenominal show...his band just killed it as usual...sound was excellent. I really like this one, the upbeat at 1:16 reminds of Paul Simon, particularly his famous hit "You Can Call Me Al"
A beautiful song! Thank you 🌹
Incrível esse artista sempre um estilo muito original e fantástico. 🌎💫💫🪐🔭
Dankeschön Peter 🙏⚘
Magnificent as always. From Charterhouse to now there is absoulutely no Peter Gabriel song or piece of music that I don't love. Now that to me is a stroke of genius.
Thanks, Gabriel.
Best one yet, love it! Stands out from the rest of the album so far
