You should do a video for specific genres. Other than the 2 Basic Set books, what books would you recommend for ? Replace with Fantasy, Hard Sci-Fi, Space opera, Superheroes, Monster of the week, Cosmic Horror, etc….
Don't ask me to choose only five. I am not sure I could do it, BUT, let me see what I have on my gaming table right this minute: I am going to cheat and use my various printed documents, cheat sheets, and GURPS Lite to take the place of the basic set. That means I get five. 1. 3E GURPS Traveller. 2. 3E Space Bestiary 3. 3E GURPS Bestiary 3. 3E GURPS Fantasy Bestiary 4.4E GURPS Ultra Tech. Honorable mentions to 3E Aliens and the three Gaming Ballistic Dungeon Fantasy books (I use them easily for sci fi monsters by ommitting the magic). I am always reaching for monster books.
Now this is very interesting to me. I have the 3e Bestiary and Space Bestiary but have not actually ever used them, opting to just make up my own stats for monsters depending on situational needs. Now you got thinking I should go back and look at those old books again.
@easygurps I use them more like skeletons or frames for monster or NPC encounters. I use their size, strength, speed, attacks, etc. And appearancdes. My group are all old RP'ers from way back, so they know all of the D&D monsters, but the monsters in say, the Gaming Ballistic bestiaries are brand new, so it keeps the players guessing.
Merry Christmas 🎄

I have my 2025 schedul if you want to set aside a day to talk about my GURPS story
