the reason you see a Jedi BTW! In 2001, over 70,000 Australians identified as Jedi on the census. This was one of the first examples of an internet meme going viral in Australia. In 2006, 58,053 Australians identified as Jedi. In 2011, 64,390 Australians identified as Jedi. In 2016, the ABS stopped including Jedi answers on the census and classified them as "not defined".
Yes its real. Everg year for past years now we get a new lamb ad. The newsest one just comd out recently as they come out just before Australia Day every year. They have a different theme every time.
Special lamb ads are produced each year by Meat & Livestock Australia for Australia Day. Same as the special commercials produced in the USA for the Super Bowl!
G'day, Some of the jokes go over a lot of people if they don't know the referance. The Tom Cruise joke goes back to another add campain, so it would net be understood by younger people or those outside Australia.
@ Yes, lol, that's it. We do the same for the short forms of Tasmania (Tazzie) and Brisbane (Brizzie). The Aussie pronunciation is all to speak faster, with fewer forced pauses. So Aussie as Ohh-see has a pause that Ozzie doesn’t when we speak.
While the statement about Australians being less religious is true, what people fail to realise is that many Australians are spiritual in their approach to life. The world will move away from the dividing, man-made dogmas of religion/s which has/have been dominant, strong and controlling in the past and move towards ideologies which embrace friendship, love-in-action, light, goodwill and respect and care for all our brothers and sisters who are a part of humanity, for the greater good in our country and the world. Two important Aussie values are 'mateship' and 'a fair go'. Both of these imply 'a we're all in this together attitude'. This Aussie is not religious but is spiritually-orientated.
never seen this add probably because it was 2 minutes long. The Tom Cruise reference is from an old add with Nicole Kidman in it before she even met him. if ykyk 😉
This ad works really well in Australia, where people have a healthy "so what?" attitude towards religion. Even those that are believers are accepting of a bit of light hearted joking, and simply see it as good for a laugh. Sadly there are too many parts of the world where people take their choice of religion far too seriously, and forbid any representation of their gods in any kind of humorous way. I much prefer the Australian irreverence in Australian culture. More people around the world need to lighten up. And enjoy a good barbecue, no matter what they choose to cook on it. For me it is steak, snags, and onions. And some people like lamb. My steak-religion is no better than their lamb-religion, and we can all enjoy the meal around the big table.
I think it may have been an extended version, i don't remember seeing the Scientology/Tom Cruise bit. Here's a relatively decent beer commercial, or a bloody big ad. th-cam.com/video/PZ_SLTkqiD4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XmuVlxJ4eg5_czrT

When Monty Python released The Life of Brian, there was a big fuss made by some small sections of Christian denominations that it was sacrilegious, and some priests, pastors, etc even banned it. But many others of the same religions, including priests, pastors etc, saw the humour, and saw it through a different lens. This ad is so similar. There’s beauty in this ad, in so many faiths and beliefs coming together in peaceful discourse around a table. Since religion is one of the greatest drivers of man's inhumanity to man across the millennia, this ad can be looked at as inspirational and aspirational. It’s a shame to take a superficial look and see a negative, instead of welcoming the positive message of ecumenism, with lamb as the code for common humanity, that underlies it.
@@giobozzreacts Multiple massive droughts have led to a huge reduction in sheep numbers. Aussie population is going UP. Coles and Woolies are price gouging. 3 Unstoppable forces...
@ Oh yes, the WEF and the governments created the floods and the droughts that significantly reduced the stock. That caused the need to lift prices for the farmers to repair and rebuild after droughts, to buy expensive feed so as not to lose more stock, and so to not have to close their farms. Do you believe the WEF and governments did that with weather control satellites by any chance? Maybe the space lasers? My cousin is a farmer who also runs sheep flocks, and your conspiracy theory would make him cry after the battles he and his neighbours have faced with alternating floods and droughts. We should be so very grateful for the courage and perseverance of our farmers, not spouting conspiracies that add to their burdens. Do you know that suicide is one of the leading causes of death in people who work the land to feed us? Shame on you.

You need to find all the old lamb ads, they're all classic

Love this ad. ❤😊 Thought it showed the best aspects of Aussie humour. Irreverent, quirky, smart and taking the piss out of everyone. ☺️
The Muhammad not being able to make an appearance line is hilarious
I'm Australian and I've never seen this ad before
Me either, just saw this the other day, because of the new 2025 ad. Love it. 😊

Check out all the lamb ads year by year. This year's is great
Tom Cruise was in a Australian lamb ad if I recall 😅
And that blond actress Naomi..... someone. Mums cooking a lamb roast!
@@sarahmill6963Naomi Watts.
Naomi Watts won a radio prize to have dinner with Tom Cruise and she declined it because mum was making lamb that night.
the lamb ad is an annual thing, kinda became a tradition over the years lol

Aussie here and the only lamb ad I have seen is this year's because people have reacted. Never seen any others.
That’s an old one. They edit them down for TV. The most recent one is The Comments Section. Australian Lamb.
Love your reactions, thank you! Just a small thing, Aussies pronounce ss as zz, so Aussies becomes Ozzies. Cheers,!

Australia Day many people bbq. These ads were to promote lamb for festive occasions.

Nicely written.
Well said.
True, let’s work to keep those values alive and pervasive.

She'd have been better off repeating that rather than meeting him the next time 😆
It wasn't Nicolle Kidman in that ad, it was her friend Naomi Watts.

@ Haha, yes it was - dates me I guess. I think it was the first one of these ads I saw, or one of the early ones anyway. So cute we all remember it!
@ I just watched it again. I’d forgotten all but the punch line. I really enjoyed it, thanks for giving me a smile. Cheers.
From OZ. I’ve never seen this ad before…..
