- Your in for a 1/2 hour treat here. Kick back with a beer, put a few under the lid for your own awesome garbage man, and enjoy some dude flying around on the back of his truck.
I finally thought up how to use my video cam, those orange tags normally for over weight or over limit cans work as duct tape to hold up the phone to the handle. Anyways I'm rocking out alright here. Fiiiiiiinally I'm not the left side guy!!! Time for me to shine a bit! :D
I take all cans/bags on my routes, I never use tags, like ever, and the beer tips just naturally flow....for some reason. I try for can tricks when I can but aren't as strong as my barbarian brothers are. Maybe one day...That means less double can action on the whole. I'm alright tho. Try and earn my keep.
I remember watching these videos years age and now I’m a garbage man! Proud of my job! We really impact other people’s lives and do a great purpose for them, tips are also really good too!
Respect! I lifted bins (UK) back in the 80s and they were the old zinc galvanised ones with a lid and you had to get the bin onto your shoulder to get it in the bin lorry (garbage truck). I really enjoyed watching this video!

Surrey here but yeah it all went driver only automated so this is a nice gem of history here I thought too.
A waste hauler in my region of the US still does their garbage just like this. Only they use front load trucks with a special dumpster mounted on the forks. They have a separate yard waste program. While garbage and recycle never have to be sorted as the company does the sorting for the residents. However, their workers' speed is nothing compared to how fast and efficient Emterra workers are. The time it took for you to get this many houses done, would have taken workers down here (cont.)

when I throw garbage I collect wire all day... put my bag over the hopper handles and while im on the back im cutting wire off appliances...also take copper brass and motors adds up to about 30 bucks a day

feeling the skills, reminds me from when i was on the residential routes. the only thing Ill criticize is when u double can up with the wheel and flip handles cans, Never grab the handles on those things cause theyll break off , flip down and the can will go flying. The best way to grab them is grabbing the can itself. much easier. other than that awesome video.

@SurreyCans iv never done handles. I learned from the best in the biz. I did residential trash and recycling for 6 years. I was nice start at 5 and done at 1030-11 on mon tues and 9 930 on thurs and fri. 850 homes. On weds i did a 1100 home recycling route no hustle on this day tho.

Wow! You're fast! Here we have a few manual trucks for hard-to-service areas,but we don't use manual bins,so the drivers have to roll the carts to the tippers and all that,which takes a lot of time. And to add to that,recycling rear loaders are always one-man crews,which slows them down further. What is the chassis and refuse body on this truck?
Fanotech body, forgot the truck type. Manual is where it's at for best customer service (taking couches)

Ya, you get what you give in a "paid by the day" contracted work. No cans, handles, broken wheels and you are already blacklisted before I touch yer can. I grab it and find it's 3-4x over weight and I'll prob fold it in half as a lesson to lighten it up or lose yer can next week, crushing it!!!
"sloppy" but finished. lol. YOU move 20-30 tonnes/day and see if you can even finish, let alone do it FAST and relatively clean. Our messes we clean, Resident messes they got 7 days to get that! ;)

Sadly the industry doesn't pause so you can setup cams and angles and shit. Bahaha. I've since migrated to gardening and video game remixes but will post vids about them sometime. Gotta work as hard for myself as I did for my residents!

Those cans that they double dump are so light compared to the cans that we pick up N dump everyday they would not be double dumping my cans on our routes. Baltimore Maryland trash company.

How are you not paid by the hour? Salary or tonnage? Nobody gets pissed that you don't put the lids back on or toss the cans upside down? People around where I live would be complaining ALL day! I appreciate your pace tho. You'd fit in at my shop nicely but we don't do rear load or swampers. One man residential front load.
