I really like that to me they don't feel like a pure dive character. More of a poke character who can get in or out and choose their engagements. And it's not as frustrating to play against as sombra by a longshot.
lol, I would of said she more of a rush hero or maybe dive, more rush though. Poke would have be the last thing I would think, after playing the hero. The reason for this is because her primary fire and abilities are quite short range. Good poke hero have mid to long range.
no way you are comparing a hero that can only kill you if you don't pay attention to your surroundings to a hero that can instantly dash at you give themselfs overheal and then blow you up

They are very high risk, high reward. Get in, get out sort of character. Hiiiigh burst damage if all buttons are pressed but then easily dove on. Ult is good for combos, not amazing by itself. I think the devs did a great job with them.
Grav + venture ult is huge
I'm just not sure I see the point of their ult? Bumping enemies up slightly doesn't seem like it does much, unless it were to go through objects. Then you'd be exposing enemies from behind obstacles

Seeing how the ult kills a squishy in two blasts I was worried it was gonna be mad broken, but in practice so far the Venture ults havnt been all that bad
Agree, the two hit squishy kinda insane with that massive aoe.. either i'm really bad againts them, not often enough facing againts them, but when enemy venture ult i can't really tell does they still have ult or not from their character model.. not like soldier ult that u can easily notice he is still have visor with those big glowing glasses
@@araven2293I think it just punishes bad positioning really. Both shields and cover block it so it's fairly easy to survive it, of course at the cost of losing ground.

Im having a lot of fun with Venture so far! I was happy I got a 5k POTG too lol
I'm loving them so much! My only thing is they die a little too easilly I think, but that's nothing a tiny buff to their Shields couldn't easilly fix (and it may be just a skill issue on my end, so maybe they are fine idk.) Other than that though their kit is so fun and fluid and encourages you to get in the enemy's face, burst some damage, then bail. Overal fantastic hero, I can't wait for them to be fully released in S10! 😊❤
I've noticed if you play them like OW1 Doom (use one cooldown to engage and one to get out) you can get consistent value, you won't lead the team in damage but choosing the right target when your tank engages can win the fight
like, 2 main fire direct hits and the alt fire combo deals 270 damage, which as long as there is spam damage coming in from the rest of your team will burst down most squishies, then you tunnel out to keep yourself alive
Ive been playing overwatch for years and this is the first character ive actually just fell in love with playing, so much fun, difficult for me to learn. I die kinda alot but great hero.
I do hope they increase the range in gun just a bit though
There’s a kill combo with venture. You shoot first, then dash and span your melee and keeping walking forward into them. Should kill most squishiest. Also venture has an animation cancel so you can shot then melee straight away after with your extra melee damage included as well.
Also you can use ventures dash abilities in the air and then press your bury ability while falling to potentially make it harder for people to hit you as if you just press your bury ability then there is a fair bit of time where you can be damaged while going underground and you can’t shoot or do anything.
To give example of what that combo can kill, it won’t kill the tank in the practice with armour, but it you use it on the tank in the practice range with no armour that’s moving around with a shield it’ll kill that. Don’t know how much health that is.
You know, people compare them to dps Doomfist a lot, but that melee attack seems like something Doomfist could use rn. I just hate how reliant on his gun he is
I thought I was alright at venture but I always use drill to disengage rather than finish off kills so definitely learned something from this as I'm in lower elp

They’re a combo of the entire cast, they have Sigma’s weapon, a doom punch that can go up without stun, a moveable Mei block that functions as a reverse Doomfist ult/bap jump, the kill combos of Junkrat, their ult is 4 Rein shatters without stun and to top it all off, THEY PLAY LIKE GENJI

I think the combo isnt the one emongg did, i think its hit shots + underground full charge + hit shot + drill enemy + melee

I felt the same until I incorporated their melee as a permanent part of their ability rotation. It really is a fundamental part of their kit
I wish that using dash underground would do more than just the 5 damage it does. .-.
So can tectonic shock hit other ventures while they are burrowing or would it be a waste cause of the invulnerability? Would be kind of cool to knock other ventures out of the ground
It can't hit burrowing ventures, also anything that can block shatter can block tectonic shock

Ran into a Venture/Sombra duo in a game. Didn’t have a good time…
Me and my squad consistently got deleted by them, every game, with them having a KD of 30-41/8 …. Dead In two shots. Safe to say we were kinda annoyed eventually

Oh, that's interesting. They actually gain shield health, not temp HP so it's possible to regen it before or just as it decays...

I was so confused about why it was shield health instead of overhealth. Turns out the decay delay is reset every time you use an ability, giving it time to regenerate. And using an ability also instantly heals your shield health it seems (need to double check). So you can keep up high shields or get a burst of shiekds by rotating your abilities.
i think they decided to make it sheild heath purely for their ult because it’s the only time where sheild health would last long enough to regenerate
It also gives enemies ult charge when they shoot venture. Overhealth does not.

I’ve been calling them a frontline flanker with the way their burrow is it’s scarily easy to sneak up on people and decimate them and their great frontline too

In low ranks nobody cares when Venture drills under the tank and dps and gets to the support line, even if I sleep them or ping them. Nobody turns around and then they go "heal????"

Venture is so much fun to play. I love their kit.
General notes:
Ult feels weak
Burrow movement speed could use a buff for utility
Animation speed of entering burrow will be made shorter once people get used to it. It's too easy to get "ajax'd"
Melee could use a nerf, but that might affect the intended play style
I'd also settle for a nerf of drill damage for a faster cooldown for it's mobility to really play up the dive playstyle
Ult is very strong when combo'd though. Well timed with grav, terra surge, earthshatter, they ain't surviving
you shoot 4 shots that can 2 tap most heroes that can only get stopped by a barrier with a 25 meter range if you have no mobility you literally can't live through that ult the burrow should not be quicker as it'll make them incredibly hard to kill alone they need some sort of risk to their abilities for all that they gain for using them
@@engineergaming3830not to mention burrow can be sped up by using dash which cuts the dash cooldown in half if used properly it won't feel different
They felt weak HP wise for an in your face brawler; felt like I was always trading to play the way the character wants to be played. Enjoyed playing them though.
They might need to mildly buff the shield you get from using abilities
you can gain 75 health with your abilities that's more than any other dps in the game they are near impossible to 1v1 as a dive hero they don't need more health
@@engineergaming3830 i absolutely agree, the only thing i could think of was to either decrease burrowing cast time (time it takes to dig down) or increase movement speed when burrowed. as burrowing only has real uses when unburrowing right now (when jumping up and dealing some burst damage)
I do see Venture as changing up the fight dynamic a little bit - especially when both teams have them.

They're cannon is like a shorter range version of Sigma's hyperspheres. But so far, they're pretty fun!

The ult may be overtuned.
Venture is supposed to be a psuedo flanker it seems but the kit doeznt quite fit the weapon. imo.
Watching this made me really commit to memory: Venture's kit is almost all for fighting in close range... Except their ult! It is deceptively long range, and because it's cone shaped, actually better the farther away they are from you. I've even missed some ults because the cone is too small up close. So I guess keep that in mind
they feel near impossible to kill as a dive hero but they're an absolute joke against long range ones is what I'm kinda getting from this hero

New heroes as of late havent been doing it for me, venture looks awful and it feels the last few heroes have been thrown together randomly where before heroes felt like backstory design and abilities all went together now heroes just feel like throwing darts at a board to see what abilities to give which character model

They get temporary shields, not overhealth

Venture was given shields not over health. Probably for sym counter play
Shields gives the same amount of ult charge as normal HP, but overhealth gives 50% of the ult charge.
Yeah, it's very interesting since they can actually regen that shield health or be topped off during that small window

@@-NoNo. thier ult had no aim requirment, they have an ability that makes them imort, they get shields from just using thier abilities, and thier abilities are all based on standing in the enemies face. What about that says skill to you?
@@averageamerican8607 combining abilities to eliminate someone, limited range in primary fire, movement potential. yeah they have an imortality but it has a windup. it’s not like mei or reaper it takes a little bit to get in the ground and they are extremely close ranged so they are very vulnerable at all times in order to be effective

She is fun but definitely overtuned, all her abilities just do so much damage, the primary fire is very easy to hit and do a lot of damage with, the ult is strong, and generating shields on ability use feels a little too strong when there's already plenty of survivability tools. It should be more like Doomfist, where you have to actually hit someone with your abilities to get shields.

Possibly a touchy subject but can I ask why a characters pronouns, sexual preference or gender choice is even mentioned? Surely the story of how this new characters part to play in OW is more important. Will this character be offended if referred to incorrectly? Will we get a clip of the new hero being introduced to other characters and have Soldier 76 be corrected for referring to the new character incorrectly? This whole world has gone wild and these subjects should not even be part of an FPS game. Even streamers are banning people for even mentioning the subject! So why have it be a part of the character if it cant be discussed?
They did show how they are related to the overwatch storyline. They're an archaeologist who found Anubis. Also, pronouns are always mentioned when a character is released, as every character has pronouns and an assumed sexuality. Why did you not question it then? We know that Widow had a husband... does that matter then? Should she not be straight following your logic? To me, it's important to have these things discussed because it diversifies representation, and we all love to see parts of ourselves represented in the games we love. Furthermore, LGBTQ+ identities don't get the spot light all THAT often, so it's quite significant in our community when it happens (therefore, people tend to talk about it). Why should it be an issue for Venture to use they/them pronouns? Why should it cause a stir when any character from the roster gets confirmed LGBTQ+? It can be discussed, who's saying it can't be? The only problem is that people are intentionally malicious via misgendering Venture to get attention/to attempt to make a statement. That's where community reactions can become a problem.

half the roster is lgbt and half are not, but why do you only have a problem with one half and not the other? it seems like the problem you have with this character or other lgbt characters in general is not that pronouns, sexual preference, or romantic preference is mentioned; it seems like you only have a problem because it's gay characters.
for example, Reinhardt and Ana have interactions where a romantic connection & history is HEAVILY hinted at, (interactions that have been in the game since ow1, mind you) yet i have literally never seen anyone uncomfortable or mad about that? and i've never seen anyone call Reinhardt a girl, or Lucio a girl, or Dva a boy, because these characters genders (and by extension, pronouns) were made apparent both in their releases and in their stories. so why should lgbt characters not get the same treatment? it's the exact same thing.
some of the most popular and fan favorite characters are lgbt. Soldier 76 and Tracer for example, both beloved characters of the community who have canonically had or have a same sex partner. but their identities do not take away from their character in the same way that Reinhardt's or any other canonically straight character's identity doesn't take away from their character; that's proven by the fact that these characters are loved for the people they are and their stories despite their romantic preferences by a large majority of the community.
if you have a problem with the lgbt, then say that. it's okay to have an opinion, and if you don't like it, you're not being forced to be around it. but using half baked arguments that really don't make a point wont help you, especially if you're trying to actually make a cohesive argument against this
@@angelldolli would say tracer and soldier is a good representation of lgbtq+ because it wasn't in your face, you slowly had to figure it out through comics, sprays or cinematic, and it actually was a nice touch, some people can play the game without ever knowing that soldier had a bf, but if you dig in you will be like "oh shit he's gay thats so awesome to discover", but with existing characters like lifeweaver, when he got revealed the FIRST thing we learn about him is that he's pan. i like the fact that venture will play an important role in the story, but sometimes it feels like discovering their sexuality or pronouns is just so much more entertaining when you're learning about the character. imagine if people would call venture she/her but then a cinematic would reveal them as they. that would be much more intriguing and thoughtful in my opinion

Q1: Its not the end of the world if queer characters' queerness isn't mentioned. But if it wasn't, how would anyone know their queer at all? Explicitly queer characters are a boon to real life queer and questioning people. Which is nice :) .
Q2: On a narrative level, yes, the casts' actions are more important to the story than their identities. As a gay man, its not super important for everything I do, but it will become known information to people who spend time with me. So in that way, it serves to flesh out the cast.
Q3. Venture won't be, no. But referring to them by the correct pronouns is respectful and purposely misgendering them is disrespectful. If a player used a slur against any hero because of that hero's race or nationality, the hero wouldn't be offended, but it wouldn't change the fact that slurring them is shitty behaviour. In Venture's case, I expect they're the first person who uses they/them a lot of players are actually referring to on a regular basis, and no reasonable person is going be upset or mad if you make a couple of mistakes.
Q4. Unlikely, but it'd be nothing more than a handful slice-of-life lines. Sometimes you meet someone, and you don't yet know they're preferred pronouns, so you get it wrong the first time and are corrected. I don't think it'd be bad to include an everyday kind of thing like that.
Overwatch doesn't really include any LGBTQ themes. Just characters who are. Their identities are stated but not really expounded upon, so its not thematic exploration. The closest was Lifeweaver's backstory short, because it had a theme of 'going your own path', but that isn't exclusively queer anyway. Actually, now that I think of it, OW's near to complete lack of narrative (because is almost exclusively PvP) can't explore any themes much. Its not really a story-telling game at all.
I haven't heard streamers banning people for mentioning "the subject". Your languages and tone are also kind of vague about what the subject is. Is it possible streamers are banning people who are being shitty? Or maybe their pre-emptively shutting down exhausting shouting matches before they start?
If we can't discuss it, then what's happening with this conversation right now? Is this not discussion?
I can't wait for every content creator to get on their knees for Blizzard and their new crappy hero.
