It's under the assumption you know what's happening. If your hair does that outside, there's a good chance lightning will strike you or very close. Standing around admiring it is stupid when the safest place was inside those vehicles.
For those wondering: The phenomenon is caused by decent wind, with the sand particles rubbing against each other, causing static electricity. Even better that you can actually hear it happening on camera.

2:12 Lmao I'm big mad because the editor skipped the best part. After the kid crashes the train into all the people, he goes "uh oh!!!" with a sh*t eating grin on his face like he wasn't the cause of the calamity.
Whilst static CAN be a sign of eminent lightning, that's NOT what's happening here. When sledding on sand dunes, the sled rubs against the sand. The granular shape of the sand makes many tiny protruding points where electrons have a greater chance of coming off, whilst the plastic at the bottom is relatively smooth so as to not have this electron ejecting effect. Plastics are good at storing static charges, which results in a buildup of negative charge on the sled. The electrons are most likely to be ejected from the sled's sharp corners and edges, which is mostly around the rim, handles, and other parts with which the rider is likely to come into contact. The rider develops a net negative charge after sledding for a while. Since sand is not a good conductor and the riders are wearing shoes to boot, the negative charge does not dissipate from their bodies very easily. Thus the riders become statically charged.
In normal circumstances, yes, you should definitely get somewhere safe, but in this case the static electricity was generated by millions of grains of sand rubbing against each other.

I don't remember the exact explanation, but charge can accumulate in the air and once theres alot of it ,it can spontaneously erupts , that's how lighting strikes happen
Yet, I'd have either run, gone into one of the cars for a Faraday cage, or crouched down...
The guy moving reminds me of those claymation movies
The fact that rats can fit into those tiny cracks like that should be scaring us all
It explains how the rat showed up on my coop camera in the middle of the night. I couldn't find a gap larger than a quarter inch around the door, but I guess that's how it got in 🤷🏻♀️
Wait til you find out they can wall run.
