- From One Foot in the Past. Jools Holland visits Portmeirion in Wales, which is perhaps better known as the location of the 1960s TV-series The Prisoner. However, it was actually build by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis as an architectural demonstration: the village enhancing the surroundings, rather than surplanting them. Part of the One Foot in the Past, dating from 1994.
A super video! Thanks for sharing :)
(From the man behind The Prison Bear)
I remember watching this way back in the 90's, just found it again - did he ever get the studio walls completed?? I MUST know!
One of the most magical wonderful places I've ever visited in the UK
and Snowdonia is extremely beautiful
Fitting that Portmeirion became a famous film set given that it was designed like one: mostly facades and illusions. Wonderful place, I visited when I was about ten years old and must go back one day. Has to be part of a holiday though as an awkward place for a day trip from home unless you are lucky enough to live nearby.
Lovely Welsh hand craft! And in London. crefftwaith llaw hyfryd o Gymru!
Is Jools the New Number Two? (this is a reference to "The Prisoner")
....that would be telling.
Who is Number One?
You are Number 6.
I am not a Number...I am a Free Man! (and would someday like to visit the real Portmeiron)
bahahahahaha!(and i'd like to do that one day too)
Lawrence Llewellyn Holland.
yay - booked into Portmeirion this weekend :)
How was it?!

lovely, BUT LEAVE THE FACTORY ALONE IN STOKE
I'm building a shed to look like a castle, anyone have any tips, please?
Jools walking "The Prisoner" set! Love it!
its very tacky, like an ugly little disneyland, only nice parts are the garden plants
Marvelous feature from One Foot in the Past.
Cheers eucalyptuspauciflora!
truly a work of wonder! If only there were more pics and a few closer shots?
Here's a the Prisoner saying Be Seeing You. :D
I remember Jools co-hosting a musical show with jazz legend David Sandborn in the US for 2 years. It was called Micellob presents Sunday Night aka Music Night.
Jools looks quite attractive here! I've always wanted to visit this place. What a unique piece of history.
I often wonder how many days filming were interrupted by rain, as in the Prisoner the sun is always shining... something not that common in North Wales!
oh I've had many sunny times in North Wales but it did start pouring when I was last at Portmeirion (just as we were leaving)
Brilliant, did Jools complete his Portmeirion inspired project?
