you need to ask for 50% of the commission up front. you then get the remainder after you submit the deliverable.
I do 30% upfront and 70% after I show them the product.
50% before is something that someone rarely does on an average 3D modeler.
as my first tcommission (today and i had no portfolio but little experience) I just said, ok im doing ur thing for free, and then if you want it pay me 1k robux and he paid me...not hard lmao @@ADeityy

replying to remind you of this comment in case you forgot. if you are reading this and still haven't started, then good luck! I recommend starting with smaller tasks first. If you want to stick to them, then thats good. But if you want to increase the stakes, then i recommend doing higher commisions when you have more experience

it pisses me off how there's so much corruption and scamming in Roblox and we cant do shit about it, i was a translator for a famous simulator game(like 40k active players at the time) they had me translate 55 pages of text, and the guy who was the translation manager who also unfortunately came from the same country as i took advantage of that and told me that my translations aren't good enough then proceeded to guilt trip me to believe that i wasn't qualified, and it worked. i was left feeling like shit and still demotivated til now

Was thinking about playing Base Raiders today since I used to play it as a kid. Was one of my favourites. Always ask 50% robux before you started working
then they might think that you are the one scamming them because you could just delete your discord account, change your roblox username and keep the robux

The main reason he gave you 100k is because of the roblox tax of 30% so you can recieve about 70k from the commission which was the agreed price

How did u learn to build like that? How long did u use blender before accepting ur first comission? I am so curious because I want to finally make a move and try to make some robux but first I want to get better at blender (or maybe scripting) Hope u will answer :)
At the time I took the commission, I had 1.5 years of experience in using blender, a couple months of using substance painter, and a few months of using roblox plugins to build things. I learned to build like that through learning blender basics, following low poly tutorials. After that, I went through a lot of trial and error to improve my modeling skills.

Unfortunately I can’t. The best way is to learn from TH-cam because there are so many resources there. Recommend learning basics and any techniques that may be helpful n modeling like learning certain good practices

I also didn't get asked for a portfolio for a commission on ODM gear, even after I stated I've never done that before (I dmed him), and after around 2 weeks of making and editing it, he asked me to name my price and since it was my first commission I was anxious as hell on whether my price would be too high, so I settled on 80$ (which I kinda lowballed myself since the ODM gear was around a week's worth of coding), then he recommissioned me for Titans for 120$ (I once again probably lowballed myself, titans took around the same amount of time).
My conclusion of this useless comment. I can't handle "Name your price" commissions 😭
do "name your price" commisions ask how much you will pay them for doing it and then they pay you or just they pay you after you finish the commision

@@TheMaltianRobloxian It's where after you complete their commission or before, they ask you how much you think the commission is 'worth', so you could either say a low price like I did, or a high price, what makes it annoying is you don't know their budget or how much they're willing to pay.
