  • Japji Sahib is the Sikh thesis, that appears at the beginning of the Guru Granth Sahib - the scripture of the Sikhs. It was composed by Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. It begins with Mool Mantra and then follows 38 paudis (stanzas) and completed with a final Salok by Guru Nanak Dev Ji at the end of this composition. The 38 stanzas are in different poetic meters.

I listen to this often. My favorite translation of Japji was around 1960. I haven't seen it in years and doubt it is in print but it was a jewel. I remember a little of one part of the translation:
"One everflowing pen inscribed the names of all the creatures, in their kinds and colors, but which of us could seek to pen that record?
And if we could how great the scroll would be."
"How can I describe the beauty and might of Thy works?
And who has the power to estimate Thy bounty O Lord?
All creation emerging from Thy One Word...flowing like a multitude of rivers."
If I reach a heaven someday and I am asked what I would like...my answer is a garland of this jap and a true heart sincere in devotion.

Interesting. Builds upon Hindu philosophy of monism and Islamic monotheistic influences .
