Great information!! I went to our Tandy and there were way too many choice so I left with nothing. LOL Looking forward to your next video so I can see how the leather looks as you open and close it etc. I have made some by recycling leather because I felt they are overpriced for what they are and you just confirmed that for me. Thank you for sharing.

Having little details, like recommended thickness, would be very helpful. I know the supplies are linked, but once the link is dead, the video becomes less useful.

I love your videos. Ever consider stitching pockets or riveting a pen holder?

+aikanae1 Thank you. Yes, I have considered it but haven't done it - yet, anyway. ;)

This is an awesome DIY. What is an average shoulder leather size L x W?

+Mary Cantres Thank you! They are 6-7 square feet. Honestly, sometimes they are long & skinny and sometimes they are more square. It just depends on the cow's size & shape. (Sorry for that image! haha. It is what it is...)

Thanks so much for this video it was very helpful! The link for the leather punch didn't work. Can you tell me what size the punch you use is? I went looking for one and found they came in so many sizes.

Great video. Thanks so much for providing so much detail. Do you only use 4-5 oz weight leather or have you used thicker leathers as well? Is there a benefit of one over the other? I know sometimes Tandy has different weights on sale. I like your natural one as well. Please remind me, did you use conditioner or oil on it?

+April Mathis You're welcome. Yes, I only use that weight because it's not too floppy or stiff. I think it's just a personal preference. I didn't condition it originally since I figured it came ready to go. It's recommended to clean & oil it at the 6-month mark (November for mine), so I will do it then.

Not sure what I did wrong? After dying the leather it became rock hard, cracked and wrinkled? I wet it before making the fold. Have you ever had this problem? Made two and this happened to both right after dying it. Thanks

+Great Gadgets & Gear! No, did you make sure to use leather paint? Paint does make it harder, but it should still bend easily. And in general they do soften up with wear. ??

No I used Eco flo leather dye, leather bent fine before dying but not after. I figured it will loosen up but it's just too hard and cracks leather.
