  • Here we are one year later and I have an update for the Growatt and PowMr.
    Will they last?
    How good is the Customer service? Can you actually get Signature Solar to do any service?
    Can I get PowMr to service a unit I bought on Amazon?
    Can China quality stand the test of time? Watch this video and find out.

    I’ve had a different experience entirely. I have 5 Growatt 5kES working in parallel without issue. Just to speak to the downgrading of Chinese manufacturing. It’s much better now than it has been because of experience. A huge portion of the Chinese work in manufacturing and have done so for most of their lives. Like you said everything is made there. They know what they’re doing. Respectfully.🎉

      Well I am very glad that you’ve had good luck with them, any Chinese product. The vast majority of the problems that come from China is the quality control. In fact I have batteries that have just arrived from China a couple weeks ago. 200 amp hour batteries, one of them has a BMS that only recognizes 100 amp hours. There again like I said a quality control issue. As of yet, I have not had a single Chinese inverter last 12 months. And I’ve tried at least three brands. But I am very glad that yours are functioning.

    Outback inverters are made in China and then rebranded in OZ/US like 95% of all US and EU-claimed Inverters SCC, Schneider Electric are UK/US but 90% of their own bulk parts are in fact made in China now. Also, PowMr is the owner of Growwatt. Victron is based in the Netherlands/UK where they assembled it, BUT most of the internals are still made in China, but you get EU/UK quality control, so much western electrical stuff that's claimed to be built in the west is only assembled there now, but you are really looking for is electricals like Mossfets, Caps type internals that are made in South Korea & Japan and sometimes US/EU/UK. There are zero electrical devices made anywhere in the world without China parts inside of them now.

      While I know there are many of the components that are made in China, I had no idea about the information you provided. I’ve had good luck in the past with outback, however that was more than five years ago. I would imagine much has changed in that five years.

    These are high frequency inverters which are known for problems and short lifespans. Low frequency is what you want. I agree about Chinese making junk... but I also see that these look to be outside., which is crazy. These are clearly only indoor rated, probably the reason they are only lasting 8 months.

    The split phase models are better models to choose. 220-230 throughput from a transformer causes a unbalance in the inverter output

    How many panels/watts production do you have in your solar array? You said you have never reached 5,000 watts, correct? What make of panel and wattage are you operating under? I only ask because we are putting together an off grid system (48volt) with 96kw battery bank... if I need more panels to have the charge controllers do their job - I would like to know now.

    • @byronyoung6759
      @byronyoung6759  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We have 10 380watt panels on one string they put out 41 volt, per panel. For a total of 410 max amps. For the Growatt that’s almost at the top. Because it will only accept 500 volts. The other string is our remaining panels and there is 8 450watt panels that put out a max of 54 volts. Keeping in mind the 500 volts is our max. I am putting together a Schindler electric inverter and charge controller. I will make a video on that when I get some free time

    I would not parallel the AC outputs of those two inverters. They would probably not be in phase.

    • @byronyoung6759
      @byronyoung6759  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct, the intention was not to parallel these two units. But to simply give an overview of the two. This is an attempt of doing a small Solar system for under $10,000 so that everybody can afford it. Thank you for your comments.

    Can anybody tell me of an electronics shop that can fix hybrid inverters like the PowMr 10.2?

  • @odeywilliams7596

    Talk about what happened to the inverters

    • @byronyoung6759
      @byronyoung6759  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So the palmar inverter started throwing error codes in the middle of the night. So when we would wake up the power would be off and there would be an error code flashing on the inverter. the Growatt inverter has stopped recognizing city power and solar power. It recognizes the batteries and uses the batteries until the batteries are depleted, then it simply beeps and shuts down. It will not charge the batteries, and it will not switch back to city power

    Sadly almost all solar related products are made in China one way or another, the only difference between US brands and Chinese Brands is QC procedure. Japan, S Korea, Taiwan ,China are all on the same track. In 5-10 years you will repeat same old stories about things made in India.

    Who among these distributors has come the closest to meeting your customer and technical support expectations?
    Or have Chinese vendors all failed?
    Fact: tech support services cost. You can buy good, cheap, or fast. But only two at a time.

    • @byronyoung6759

      All the Chinese have failed. It’s just about time. The PowMr lasted the longest by far. But if you can spend a little more I would recommend one of the big names. At work we install a lot of Schindler Electric inverters. And they all seem to last. I am getting ready to start a video for Schneider soon.
