Like a baby...I was enjoying one piece, but the GOING going GONE Merry moment made me realize this wasn't my favorite anime, this was just my favorite show in general.
I remember thinking my friend was ridiculous for crying about a boat in high school. After 4 or 5 trying to get into One Piece, it finally clicked 3 years ago, and I understood. I'll admit it, I cried for a boat.
Oda is a pure savage when it comes to this. He spent multiple arcs building mystery and HUMANZING the ship..then at the very end it talks and reveals it has feelings and we burn it alive. It stopped being a ship and became a being...maybe not a human being but a being.
imagine after reading/Watching One oiece alone for 20 plus years I finally found everyone on Yt was just like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you all my Nakama out In the World we all....... well not everyone, cried over a Boat
@@maybeitsyou1317oh the moment when Sunny starts walking around in Film Red and then the post credits scene with Luffy taking to He/her/they realizing they have been blessed by a second Fairy and she's Merry's child. The straw hats are taking care of a newborn fairy attached to their ship because she trusted them to be good people.
That episode with the going merry really hit me hard, I was graduating high school when I first saw it and it made me think about all of the memories I made with my friends up to that point, and how I’d be starting a new chapter in my life. Getting my first job, car, and making new friends and memories. I don’t usually cry over shows or games but that part had me sobbing uncontrollably, even my mom walked by and started panicking lol
By the way I’m sure other people will point it out, but your all caught up with the netflix live action now! You can watch it if you really want to, its probably the only live action anime I’ve ever seen done so well
Nice little detail: So far, Robin always called them using nicknames like navigator, doctor, long nose etc. But after this incident, she calls them by their proper names ❤
She couldnt let herself use their names... she couldn't let herself grow attached. She only used Luffy because she was indebted to him. He saved her once.
The scene with saying goodbye to Merry is *rough*, but I still love it so much because it literally made us cry over a BOAT of all things. That's peak writing, to make you care for an object. That being said, there is also a great character song by Usopp's voice actor, called "Fly, Merry, Fly ~ Sayonara Merry" that I highly suggest you take a listen to. Usopp's voice actor has some great pipes. The next set of episodes are cool-down fillers, some really nice ones, too.
Since everyone else is doing the "crying over a boat" bit, Koby had probably one of the biggest glows up in anime. He went from a blobby chicken nugget, and turned into a somewhat handsome young man who could 100% be the protagonist of a spinoff anime.
Michael and Hoichael are the "menace from the backstreets." that the Galley La guys and the two SeaTrain Station attendants suspected of shooting Iceberg. They're a pair of 12 year old hooligans raising hell, lmao. Obv they wouldn't have shot iceberg but they're out here annoying everybody. Remember how in Alabasta, the gun ate the dog dog fruit, and how Spandam's sword ate the elephant elephant fruit? That's Dr.Vegapunk's research being applied. Aokiji uses the metaphor "a tree to call home" because her name is Robin, like the bird. 😭
AND LIKE THE ROBIN TREE! Just like the tree, Robin has had to live with shallow roots, as she'd have to stay on the run all her life until meeting the strawhats
The first time I watched this, I felt nothing. The second time, I had just lost a pet to illness. That's when I got it. The loss, the desperation, the guilt... the thought that we could have done more to save her... Dear Lord, it still haunts me years later and I can't watch this without bawling.
I've been waiting for this reaction since you started ahahahaha. I literally have the merry tattoo'd on my arm because of these episodes. Glad you can finally join the support group.

I tell my girlfriend various things about one piece. What exciting thing happened during the chapter I just read stuff like that. she has not seen a single episode outside of passing through the room while I’m watching it. She once asked me what’s so great about it, she said it seems like fun but what makes it one of your favorites. This episode is always one of my go to points. “I cried over a ship”. It’s something about merry blaming it self that just gets me every time.
14:03 Its always fun to see people get shocked by the grandpa Garp 😂😂 ive been waiting for this episode ever since you began episode 1 of one piece! ❤❤❤ And now u can watch the live action since it wont spoil u! Thank you for your wonderful reaction Queen!
7:16 reaction looking like Oda himself flew to your house, grounded you, one week without the nintendo switch. and then returned to Japan xD. But yeah. first time I saw it I was furious! I was no joke fist clenching and crying. Today. Today I still cry over it. And tomorrow, I´ll keep crying over it probably.
Oh man I still remeber the first time I saw Merry's goodbye, I was crying and then Merry apologized and I just lost it man, the ugly cry couldn't be contained. This was indeed a crazy arc and there's still a lot of crazy to come.
i think what made most of us cry is the fact that merry has feelings! its the realization that she is not just a ship. she has a soul! and she was there in every journey they had…
I'm so glad i found this channel. Your reactions are amazing and it feels like we can connect as one piece fans through emotions. This particular Merry's scene is so deep for me, I just can't stop crying everytime i watch it (ever since i started in 2013). It's practically impossible to hold on the tears when he apologizes. It's just so sad. Oda even said he was crying when he wrote this scene, that's how deep it was
I love this reveal about Luffy and his family. Great reaction as always! It's emotional seeing Robin embracing being part of the crew and how happy they all are
Don't worry, honey. We cried together. I can't get passed her funeral without crying. There should be some filler, maybe 6-7 more canon episodes, then we should be in pre Thriller Bark filler territory until around 336-337. This next arc is slower, but there are still tears to be shed. It's definitely meant to be the valley after the peak, but it's still a great arc with some funny moments. After Thriller Bark is over you can watch a prequel episode called "Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation" set in the same world.
It's a shame Usopp couldn't have been there. Even when we're prepared, we just weren't prepared. That should be you caught up to watch the live action if you want btw. I'm always amazed at how Oda manages to pull these feelings out us, I've never cried at a boat before. The family too! Love the parties we have and the catch ups we have at the end of some of the arcs. Can't wait for more.
Yeaa rip sogeking! And thank you for all you Merry! You truly shown you were a staw hat, and yep sadly even tho merry appeared and even saved them. The damage was too much, bless usopp for being the best shipwright for that vessel. He was the one hanging off on a lil plank nailing wood planks to the side he was the one who put the steel wrapping around the mast. Frankie never worked on it and literally met the Going Merry at the end of its life. Still being the badass appentice of tom cutty flam was he could tell she was barely limping along. Rest now merry those who loved will carry on your legacy and your wishes!
It is amazing how good the writing of one piece is. Them loosing the going merry had been spoiled for me, I had even seen clips of it, but even then when I finally got to it, that episode still had me absolutely sobbing
I remember first watching this. I was telling myself “you will not cry. You will not cry. You will not cry.” But then when Merry said “I’m sorry”, I burst into tears

Chopper giving Luffy a piggy back ride is one of my favorite parts of One Piece. Also when Chopper made Luffy question which was better Stag beetles or being King of the Pirates!
