Very Good ! ! ! I've been to Honolulu twelve times myself in thirteen years. I live in Vancouver B.C. Canada. We have some Hula dance schools here too and they travel over there to compete. I don't have any plans yet to visit Hawaii. Because of today's economy is still struggling to get back on track. Probably any time as long as an opportunity becomes available. Mahalo ! !
FINALLY! a youtube video that I can follow along and work out to! Everyone else's routine or competition videos aren't very helpful!! I just wish there was some place in my area where I can go and do some tahitian drills like these! Thanks so much for sharing and I'm looking forward to more! :)
I took a class for eight weeks. Yes, you really do get quite a core workout - especially your obliques. After one class a week for eight weeks, there was a noticeable difference in my lower belly area. Hooray!
Hi. I love your channel! I took Tahitian dance lessons as a kid and I'm trying to remember a move where you step with one foot and then you squat a bit and your knees kind of butterfly outwards while your feet remain together. You sway your hip to one side then you stand upright, your feet come together again and you step with the opposite foot. It's pretty fast and it was done with the decorative straw pom poms. Are you familiar with this step? We would also say Maow ca caow at the beginning then get into position and bend our knees with our arms outstretched.
You girls are great! :) I'm really eager to start learning this dance! Can you tell me where did you get music from and where can I find it? Thx! And greetings from Serbia!
alaura14 m Yeah I imagine it would take tons of practice, even still it amazes me how dancers can independently move central parts of their body such as hips, chest, shoulders. Much respect to all you guys because I look like a fish out of water (literally) if I attempt to do the same.
But hey, Ballet is the most difficult dance to learn and Misty Copeland mastered it as a teenager! I don't think it's ever too late too learn any dance :-)
Aloha, have you been able to get some of these drum beats on tracks? I have been searching the internet for Tahitian drum beats, but there seems to be none. :/
You are a good instructor but what I found funny and hilarious is that no one in the back when as low as you did they all kind of just stood there like wtf? lol
