Navigating Ruby Falls trails in Alberta can be challenging in any season. We made it here by nightfall, taking Ruby Lakes trail in. Not surprisingly, there were a few campers enjoying the last warm weekend in sight. We're ecstatic to have made it! The walk dried our wet bums, we were in too deep in one spot. There are many river crossings along the rocky shores of the Cardinal River and Ruby Creek; water levels should be closely monitored, they can change rapidly with precipitation. If you decide to venture the Ruby/Grizzly Lakes trail loop, a winch is recommended. Lots of mud and muskeg can make it slow going, some deep mud holes. Travelling with a buddy is also recommended.
This adventure is worth the effort!!
