I definitely agree with your sentiments, as much as people complain about this message being unnecessary and "political," it is an important one to have. The reactions to this clip in the comments of this video and to other locations that this was reposted to says a lot about how unwelcoming many spaces of the vtuber scene are to anyone who doesn't fit their mold. I'm glad Gibby clarified his stance on the topic and made it clear that those who discriminate against the LGBT are not welcome in the stars community.

I gotta say, seeing how inclusive Holostars is (not really familiar with -live) warms my heart. I was just listening to a Bettel stream and hearing him use they/them for an enby friend of his, like he would for anyone else. Idk why but that just feels good to hear/see. I imagine that it would impact me a lot more if I wasn't cis, which was something I considered for a time many years ago. Not to mention how diverse the streamers are too. Holo and EN vtubing in general is still in its infancy. It makes me happy to see people even at this early stage using inclusive language, educating themselves, and choosing to come out if/when it feels right for them. If any of them were to ever read this, I hope they know that the LGBTQ+ community they're helping to foster is here for them too.

As a longtime Starmin fan before the Holostars English branch came along, the StarsJP boys have always stand their ground, set boundaries and always made an effort to have an inviting environment of their streams to viewers regardless of gender, sexuality, country, language and even more. So when Holostars English dropped, I only wished they carried the same sentiments their JP senpais did and in which they do. I have friends who are a part of that community and they love Holostars as a whole for that.
I haven't seen much from the newest wave of Stars (because I'm subbed to too many holomems already) but after seeing this clip I realised I've been missing out. As a Bi Trans girl myself, the reassurance of "you are welcome here" is something a lot of us LGBTQ+ ppl don't hear enough. i am ftm transgender (they/he), and holostars has really helped me realize my identity as such. my kamioshi was vesper. there was just something about him that helped me come into my own and cement in my brain what it means to be not only a man in general, but the specific kind of man i long to be. i'll never forget the clip of vesper congratulating a user on finally starting HRT and wondering "will that be me someday?" to see gibby carry on his torch so proudly and valiantly makes me believe that that "someday" might be sooner than i ever could have imagined, and even just small carrot-and-stick morale boosts like that does wonders for my will to keep going. it makes every time i squeeze uncomfortably into my chest binder or mess up a transtape application worth it. hats off to him. here's to someday.

oh man, Gibby is probably the English speaking Holo talent that is most impossible for me to watch due to timezones (he streams at like 3-4am for me), and as a result the Holostar who I know the least well and can only learn about through clips. I don't really follow corporate vtubers as much as I used to anymore, but is good to see someone being so open and accepting of LGBTQ people. Most of the interactions I've seen of the vtuber community with any marginalized group/topic is full of those weirdos going: "ahh stop forcing politics into everything, ahhh pronouns, ahhh black people" so this is amazing to see.
He actually handled this quite good instead of specifying, he straight up said everyone is welcome. I'm saying it now ,the main reason Holomems don't talk about lgbtq+ as much is because part of their contract is to step aside of politics, I'm not saying lgbtq+ is inherently political but bringing it up often leads to political talk so most corpo vtubers tend to avoid the topic.

It really is not a hot take, it is more so a welcome opinion probably to show lgbt support, especially since many holomembers seem to be bisexual. But many might not like hearing someone namedrop it since it is seen as something politcal and use hololive as a way to escape from that. Plus some Holomembers like Calli are often targeted by some wannabe activists online and it probably left a sour taste in some mouths, to which they respond with gatekeeping.

This seems like a very weird reason for you to give up watching someone. You, as a gay man, should know how basically everywhere on Earth has had an uptick of anti-LGBT+ sentiment, and not only on just a social level, but way up on political and lawmaking levels as well! And shouldn't you also be aware of how *intensified* those sentiments have gotten thanks to the anonomity of the internet, and how widespread their reach has infiltrated to otherwise public forums, instead of lurking in a hidden corner to themselves? People should be able to say that they have no intentions of valuing such sentiments, and that they'll welcome any who'd be harmed by them. Inclusion of a demographic does not mean exclusion of the rest!
I am fine with LGB, but the T+ is the one thing I have a slightly disagree with in how its treated and how its course is going through the current history. HOWEVER. I think what he means is that it's supposed to be just "Have fun" and I, even if I have disagreement with T, don't want people to feel bad or discouraged for being what they want to be. Gibby's just wishing for a good time, and helping out with that in space where you can just goof of, stupid and fun in short while not caring about that part of your personlity (Unless brought up in context). Do what you want just don't harm anyone else while doing it and it's fine. Treat others how you want to be treated. I can see why you'd be suspicious, however, as someone who is also under the LGBT+ umbrella, I think it's a positive when content creators don't beat around the bush and let people know that any kind of bigotry is not welcome in their community. Thanks for the clip! I see no issue with his statement and if you did, you're probably taking it the wrong way. As a longtime Starmin fan before the Holostars English branch came along, the StarsJP boys have always stand their ground, set boundaries and always made an effort to have an inviting environment of their streams to viewers regardless of gender, sexuality, country, language and even more. So when Holostars English dropped, I only wished they carried the same sentiments their JP senpais did and in which they do. I have friends who are a part of that community and they love Holostars as a whole for that.

i am ftm transgender (they/he), and holostars has really helped me realize my identity as such. my kamioshi was vesper. there was just something about him that helped me come into my own and cement in my brain what it means to be not only a man in general, but the specific kind of man i long to be. i'll never forget the clip of vesper congratulating a user on finally starting HRT and wondering "will that be me someday?" to see gibby carry on his torch so proudly and valiantly makes me believe that that "someday" might be sooner than i ever could have imagined, and even just small carrot-and-stick morale boosts like that does wonders for my will to keep going. it makes every time i squeeze uncomfortably into my chest binder or mess up a transtape application worth it. hats off to him. here's to someday.

oh man, Gibby is probably the English speaking Holo talent that is most impossible for me to watch due to timezones (he streams at like 3-4am for me), and as a result the Holostar who I know the least well and can only learn about through clips. I don't really follow corporate vtubers as much as I used to anymore, but is good to see someone being so open and accepting of LGBTQ people. Most of the interactions I've seen of the vtuber community with any marginalized group/topic is full of those weirdos going: "ahh stop forcing politics into everything, ahhh pronouns, ahhh black people" so this is amazing to see.
He actually handled this quite good instead of specifying, he straight up said everyone is welcome. I'm saying it now ,the main reason Holomems don't talk about lgbtq+ as much is because part of their contract is to step aside of politics, I'm not saying lgbtq+ is inherently political but bringing it up often leads to political talk so most corpo vtubers tend to avoid the topic.

It really is not a hot take, it is more so a welcome opinion probably to show lgbt support, especially since many holomembers seem to be bisexual. But many might not like hearing someone namedrop it since it is seen as something politcal and use hololive as a way to escape from that. Plus some Holomembers like Calli are often targeted by some wannabe activists online and it probably left a sour taste in some mouths, to which they respond with gatekeeping.

Dunno about anyone else, but I (a gay guy) get really uncomfortable when someone feels the need to declare their stream a safe space for LGBT. There always seems to be some sort of angle or othering going on with it. I liked watching Gibby, this being one of the streams I missed, but I don't think I'll tune into any more streams now.
I suppose i can understand that, but its important to remember that gibby is speaking as a pansexual man, he's not an ally, he is a part of the community, which could be why he wanted to be so clear about that

I am fine with LGB, but the T+ is the one thing I have a slightly disagree with in how its treated and how its course is going through the current history.

I think what he means is that it's supposed to be just "Have fun" and I, even if I have disagreement with T, don't want people to feel bad or discouraged for being what they want to be.
Gibby's just wishing for a good time, and helping out with that in space where you can just goof of, stupid and fun in short while not caring about that part of your personlity (Unless brought up in context). I can see why you'd be suspicious, however, as someone who is also under the LGBT+ umbrella, I think it's a positive when content creators don't beat around the bush and let people know that any kind of bigotry is not welcome in their community.
