    We have one player who calculate every move he does. A player who can correctly fold second nuts in one big pot, before he correctly calls with one pair in another big pot. Undoubtedly one of the very best players in the world.
    The other player is a recreational billionaire (though a very decent recreational player) who does this primarily for the fun of it.
    My bet is that this will be over long before we reach 50k hands. But it is still great fun, so thanks to both Galfond and Perkins for doing this.

      @@edwardhalmarack6482 I was thinking more in the general terms of things. If you have seen Galfond play you know what he is capable of, how many incredibly good decisions he takes when he plays, and also that he almost never take a bad decision. In difficult spots he is sensational in evaluating the hand and figure out the correct decision.
      And about Perkins: I dont know how much money he has, but he have definitely built a good life for himself and his family through being a good businessman and he should be secured for life regardless of how this challenge goes :)

      Once either player loses 20 buy-ins [400k] or (incredibly unlikely) they play to 50k hands and whoever is down, has to pay the sidebet. Phil Galfond would have to pay 1 million if he loses and Bill Perkins would have to pay 250k. Those are in addition to the likely 400k.

      You just don't understand this game. It's not holdem. Raising 5s full or 77 in that spot would be suicide. So that means Bill has either QQ or 55. Since Phil has one of the Queens both hands are equally likely. Why shovel more money in when it's 50/50. The call makes perfect sense if you think it through. Queens might not always check raise to a full pot bet so that makes the call even better.

    • @Santino_Valentino
      @Santino_Valentino 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sureitsdanny Who said it was hold'em?
      I'm pretty sure I've played enough PLO in ten years to know that all the money should go all_in when you're opponent committed 98% of his money and you are holding the 2nd nuts.
      Your reasoning make no sense, in that case you should always fold in that spot. Which means you're goint to be folding the best hands 99% of the time.

    • @shakes115
      @shakes115 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it’s a pretty complex spot so I wouldn’t expect to arrive at a conclusive conclusion after only a minutes thought. For instance, actions on previous streets and previous hands played with Bill may have allowed Phil to give nontrivial weights to quads vs another full house. For instance, just say, that in the exact same spot Bill had raised smaller with QQ. I’m not saying this happened, but if it had then your top full house logic is not working (even if it is in all caps).
