I am 69 and right with you. This is an inspirational piece of music right here. Still remember the old scratchy vinyl LP that I wore out playing this song. May we all find out inner wizard
Back in "the old days" I connected with this band for what ever reason, I don't really know, while in the Army during the early 70's. Some of my buddies thought them to be too weird, well there was that, but I also was into Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream. Okay well I was also under the influence good weed and hash along with some psychodelia at that time. Anyway, it took a few years before meeting people who were closet fans in those same early years of the 70's (a thought that just hit me; I liked Uriah Heep in the early 70's and now I'm in my early 70's, wow, that's heavy). There was a point I was going to make here but, for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Maybe, it was how all of that didn't affect, or is that effect my...what was I talking about, well actually I wasn't talking about anything because I'm just typing. But seriously, I have been a fan for a long time. LOL!
@@2spirited4u60 How about the prices ... I remember when an ounce of Gold Colombian was $15 and we complained when it went up to $25 ... that was maybe 1977 or 78 .
Demons and Wizards is one of the greatest albums of 1972. For me, this has always been Uriah Heep's highlight. Remembering summer 1972 still after 50 years...
Magicians birthday was good as well. I have both. I was 12 when I started listening to them and have been since. I'm 61 now and still have the albums from then and have them on cd.
It’s as magnificent as it was the day it was released, becoming a lifelong favorite. I’ve gotta say that as a 71 year old hippie chick, I’ve heard the finest music ever around.
Demons and wizards was the album of choice that year for every party or just get to together, oh to be that young and that energized by life, a time of pure joy …. God I miss my teenage years…
I think Byron was up there with the best. The range in his voice was incredible. For me Heep were never the same after Gary Thain died and when David tragically died they never really sounded the same. So sad as they were a fabulous band.
As a 14 year old in 1970 I found a love that has lasted a lifetime, that love is for great music, thank you Uriah beep, Peter green,Pink Floyd, marmalade, bad finger and many many more for giving me something to live for …..
A million views in two years. Amazing. Growing up my friends and I would sit outside playing guitars and singing. This is one of the first songs my friend Paul taught me. Thirty years ago.
My gosh man, there was only one sound different from all others! This line up of Uriah Heep was by far the most lyrical, the most harmonizing! "and" instrumental band that had it all!!!
Seen them July 22, 1972 at Parkway Field in Louisville, KY. Will forever remember it! I am going to be 70 in February, and still love their music!! ❤😊❤
When I was 57 years old my 18 year old girlfriend bought this album for me on vinyl. I'm 65 now and she is still in my life. You treat someone good and the never leave. I have long rock n' roll hair with 2 thin grey streaks and it is natural.
“Why don’t we listen to the voices in our heart, cause then I know we’d find we’re not so far apart. Everybody’s got to be happy everyone should see, for we know the joy of life and peace that love can bring.” 1:28
At 64, I just listened to the entire song for the first time in who knows how many years and I still knew every word and every riff !!!!!!! Classic !!!
I’m 36… my dad took me to see Heep as my first ever gig when I was a kid - they played with Nazareth! I was the youngest there at the time; I have seen younger fans there since and it makes me happy that someone’s being raised on good music 🎧 🎸
So spoke the wizard in his mountain home The vision of his wisdom means we'll never be alone And I will dream of my magic (k)night And the million silver stars that guide me with their light
My friend and I visited a dude that was in. Nam. . He and I were just 19 or 20. Can’t remember exactly. We went down to his basement. He was totally screwed up. He kept playing this song over and over, super loud. He was really messed up. Totally high on whatever. Kept playing this over and over and over.
One of my first Albums that I ever purchased myself with lawn mowing money, I still have it. I cherish this song more today than ever before, I actually cry now, we were never meant to live this way, stuck in some kind of slave construct or open prison. I am seeing a split though as of late, there seems to be many waking up, but just as many or more that seem dependent on the system, perhaps we are seperating, I pray for a positive future, especially for the children.
This song chills me from head to toe. Everything about it is fantastic. Perfect intro, amazing voice not to mention the backing vocals. Love this band in every single era. Simply spectacular!!

So much unadulterated joy in this track. Great antidote to these depressing times. But too young in 1972 to party to this but remembered pered it on TOTP
I saw Uriah Heep for 25p way back and just missed out on catching Ollies’s drum stick, the wizard is a class all time favourite leading on a to “magicians birthday “.
68 years for me. Growing up through the Music Revolution, starting with the Beatles in 1963, was so great! Immerse yourself, for the final 20 seconds of this song, in the (choir?) background vocals. Nice way to end the song.
Another of the '57 variety I was lucky enough to be there at that 'Friday night in Birmingham ' when they flooded the ground floor with dry ice. Brilliant band.
Echoes man, echoes. Just amazing how you can not hear a song for decades and yet every thing is still as fresh and new in memory as if not a day has passed. Beautiful man.
Great track, 12 string from hensley, d tuned... the middlepart are amazingly high vocals, vs great rockin guitarpattern, an testament of the superb hensley/byron songwriting, thain, keeslake and the great box keep the driving rythm from the second verse, just brillant stuff
I see a lot of older people in the comments here. Fret not my friends, us youngsters are rocking your beautiful music even today.
Awesome, there’s so much more! Enjoy.
This music was made before I was born but I found it at 14. I am now old. Lol. Im so glad you found it my friend. That truly makes me smile
Glad you youngsters have caught on to the magic of the old music. Cheers and rock on
Freakin awesome….that’s the spirit
So very glad you’re here
67 years on this planet. Thank God for this music.

IÁM 66 YEARS OLD AND STILL HAPPY.

I'm 53. This came out when I was a babe, but I discovered it while stationed in West Germany in the 80's.
Absolutely love it.
I'm 23. I loved it since I've listened the first time. I'm not english native, in that time I didn't even understood the lyrics. But now...

Great band.....great song
64 and still rocking....
Only good thing about the internet is being able to hear whatever music you desire....
Isn't it the best! Talk to people all around the world! It has lots of hazards but its blessings too
I’m seeing them tonight in concert… Mercury Ballroom!
Till I take my last breath, I will rock the darkness away, till the heavens shake in delight!

another geezer here, jamming to this song, exactly like I did 60+ years ago...(only with much better weed! ~grin~)
This album was released in 1972. It will be 52 years old this May.
Amen, so much better weed. Missoni that Outstanding high!!
52 years , not 60 ! Don't make us and the music any older than we already are
@gardensofthegods I'm 68 that's old yawl. Music & weed were a hell of alot better in the late 60s& 70s.
Old or not, good is damn good!!

It is one of the greatest albums of the Classic Rock History not just 1972.
Magicians birthday was also a great piece of work. I listened to both when I was 11 years old in 73.
Paradise the spell, fantastic! The leyric
Magicians birthday was good as well. I have both. I was 12 when I started listening to them and have been since. I'm 61 now and still have the albums from then and have them on cd.
It was the first album I brought with my wages
I'm 70 years old and I remember when this album came out. It was an instant must have.
It is still a must have! At least I think….
yep exactly seen them when they toured with Jethro Tull mid 70's
Toooo much! I'm 64 and these sounds of Uriah Heep will be with me forever.
Absolutely brilliant. Masterpiece music never forgotten.
Classic 50 year old masterpiece that doesn't sound dated at all.
It actually sound incredibly fresh, modern and iconic.

they (not THEY) go back a long way!
Circule hand
..chanced to meet him one night wandering...
I'm seventy four. Still think Uriah heep best band ever
65 Years old, best years in music. They don't make it like this anymore.
Almost 50 years and it's still amazing.
Why don't we listen to the voices in our ❤
60 years old we need this more than ever cheers 🇨🇦❤️
Será eternamente fantástica
You got that right. One of my favorite heep songs
3 minutes of genius.
The days of hearing a lead singer like this are long, long gone sadly.
Demons and wizards was the album of choice that year for every party or just get to together, oh to be that young and that energized by life, a time of pure joy …. God I miss my teenage years…
We were lucky to have this experience. I was fortunate enough to see them perform. They were incredible.
I wore this album out when I was young. It's a classic. Today's music will never top this!!
Absolutely. Songs of this era are works of art. With album covers that were also works of art.
@Kurt I , I still get psychedelic (LSD-25) flashbacks from 'The Wizard.'
Check the last Greta Van Fleet Meeting the master ....it was inspired by this Heep's masterpiece
Bullshit
Wir hatten die allerbeste Musik
Ich bin fast 66 und liebe all diese Stücke aus den 1960ern/1970ern ❤❤❤❤❤
Just turned 68, still love this band. One of my first concerts back in the day!!
I love Uriah Heep, David Byron was a monster singer.
Juan Olmo
He was a rock great.
Kind of a tragic figure though. He was kicked out of the band due to excessive drinking and died ten years later in 1985.
I think Byron was up there with the best. The range in his voice was incredible. For me Heep were never the same after Gary Thain died and when David tragically died they never really sounded the same. So sad as they were a fabulous band.

Absolutely hands down the purest & simplest song out there. When I hear this- I hear peace, like I’m in heaven!
staple party tune for those of us who were teens in the early 70s. Uriah Heep is still a treat to listen to

One of my all-time favorites to play; sounds great on a 12-string acoustic guitar.
The most underrated band in rock history. I'll be fulfilling a dream by seeing them play in Cyprus in September 2022!!!

Still a great musical score !! I am 65 now and still rocking !!
Listened to this album daily, Uriah Heep was never matched and far before their time with such meaningful lyrics in today's world!
50 yrs, and this is still the best song ever!
That was music. Today you hear it once or twice and then that's it. Heep and the others are eternal.
These lyrics can be the manifesto of the world. Epic.

What commendable after more than 5 decades is the lyric complemented by the badass vocals of the 70's ... abominably missing in songwriting today

Uriah Heep - The Wizard Lyrics:
He was the wizard of a thousand kings
And I chanced to meet him one night wanderin'
He told me tales, and he drank my wine
Me and my magic man kinda feelin' fine
He had a cloak of gold and eyes of fire
And as he spoke I felt a deep desire
To free the world of its fear and pain
And help the people to feel free again
Why don't we listen to the voices in our hearts?
'Cause then I know we'd find, we're not so far apart
Everybody's got to be happy, everyone should sing
For we know the joy of life, peace and love can bring
So spoke the wizard in his mountain home
The vision of his wisdom means we'll never be alone
And I will dream of my magic night
And the million silver stars that guide me with their light
Aah, aah, aah

Aah, aah, aah
