    Props for riding fixed gear. I tried for about a month, to and from work is about 20 miles, just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I'll stay single speed.

    • @milododd
      @milododd 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      there's pretty much no reason other than track racing to ride a fixed gear bike over a single speed. single speed is safer, faster, and more efficient.

    • @jankolbe2879
      @jankolbe2879 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Safer depends on brakeless vs. brakes, faster depends on the rider's abilities (on flat groundsat least) and efficient? I don't think so. Is it harder to pedal all the time? Sure. But it's a hell of a good training, even on shorter rides :)

      Fixed gear is faster than a single. And more efficient, cause you re pedaling with the momentum of the whell. Ofc first month's is hard, but after a year go back from work daiyly 20 milles in total plus in days off I go cycling another 30 or 35 milles. After cycling in road bike for 2 years, in a fixed gear 46*14 i really enjoining the experience.

      Just get a SS/fixed gear anyways and ride it when you don't feel like taking out the road bike. Due to the variance of elevation in the area, you'll just become a stronger and better climber overall. One gear, no excuses!
