The attention to detail and amount of planning that goes into every single project you post is amazing. I learn something new and get a ton of ideas from every single video, thank you!
Great book for a beginner . th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ this book really starts from the beginning, as in it explains what basic tools are and how to use them. But when it gets to the art of creating joints and how and when to use them this book really starts to teach you something. At least that was my experience.
One thing I like and appreciate about your channel is the fact that you always seem to be using appropriate personal protection equipment when using power tools. Setting a good example by protecting your health is always worthwhile.
Not to rain on the parade (I am a big fan of this channel) but there's this German carpenter that's pretty nifty in a small space. What I like is that this WSJunkie does everything according to my own plan but before I do it myself in my 20ft container. Basically because I am constructing an addition to our small house first before I have enough space in the workshop.
The fact that your small parts organizer handles are french-cleat-ready shows how far ahead you're planning. Impressive! I must have missed the part where you put a wire behind the hole for your power outlet.
Once again I nearly didn't watch this as I have nowhere to install a french cleat system. But I decided to watch it anyway as I have enjoyed all your videos. And once again I was amazed at your innovative ideas for installing the panels. Brilliant work. You have quickly become my favorite Woodworking TH-camr. Can't wait for your next video
Very brelliant idea. I have many many youtubes how to make the perfect french cleat system, but never see like this one, this is the system I will make in my tiny garage
You are doing such a great job here, but why do you use Phillips screws? You can hear how they turn through and destroy the starmould in the top of the screw. This can make it imposible to remove them later. I always use Tork screws.
I was impressed when you finished the wall, the frame install was nice and showed your abilities, but when you put your organiser boxes on using the handle that was when it really showed how good you are! Awesome.
All too often I find these 'small workshops' are not that small. I too work out of a single garage and your channel fits my space and mentality perfectly. Love love love! Thanks for the inspiration 👍
Your way to assemble the french cleats is very clever with all those rear discreet screws. Brilliant. As the small drawers you can hang on the cleets: brilliant too!
You, my friend, are a freakin' genius! I stumblde across your site while looking for a way to re-organize my small shop, and now am hooked. I'm a junkie too!
i love this idea and i think that once i get my build in my back yard i will be using it. unrelated i have never seen anyone else be able to go from beard to clean shaven so often in one video series such as i do with your videos. lol.
That French Cleat adds so much character and warmth to the workshop. Practical and astheticly pleasing. A job well done. Just bing watching the improvements you have made to the workshop, think they are top quality.
Always so awesome to see a fellow South African woodworker on TH-cam!!!! Awesome idea with the frame and perhaps something i am going to do myself as my walls are definitely not straight or flat. Awesome work and I look forward to seeing your progress in 2020!!
Frank Howarth would be proud with that much French cleat storage. Excellent job as usual, I'm jealous of your work space but also inspired to actually sort my own out. Looking forward to your 2020 plans.
Very good. I enjoy your videos and get ideas from them. I am in the process of hanging plywood walls in my shop right now. The cleat idea is great. Thank you.
Brother - what an amazing idea! Building a supporting frame with a cleat system to hold the wall itself is genius - honestly, brilliant idea and execution. You've definitely inspired me here - great job!
That is pretty amazing. You have done an incredible job in such a small space. I have a 6 metre by 6 metre shed and still whinge about lack of space. Might have to rethink. Well done.
Incredible detail and quality! Thank you for your unique way of doing a French cleat wall. Please make videos of how you make your cleat tool holders as you create them over time.
Well done! Also, the idea of running the power behind the backing is a cleaner look than trying to use metal conduit on concrete walls. Keep up the innovated thinking through 2020!
Very well conceived and executed ... you do amazing work and demonstrate it well for others to learn. Thank you for your desire to help others in this wonderful community. Cheers, dave
Like others commenting here I too sing your praises for the FABULOUS FORESIGHT you’ve put into the execution of these projects!!! That said, I guess I’ll have to be the wet blanket and bring up a possible future logistical problem, and that is - given your extremely NARROW space, perhaps it would have been better to keep your organization units to the BACK wall??? Now might be a bit late to bring it up as that really cool ceiling unit would have to come forward, but I’m just afraid you’ll incur some injuries trying to work around the many projecting units you’ll be adding to that side wall. And, too, I’m afraid they’re going to hinder the size of your future projects. So sorry to bring this up. You may have already considered and discarded that thought. I look forward to those projects as well as additional organizational projects.
I added French cleats to my shop over the holidays and I love them. So versatile. I love your design and I look forward to seeing how you populate it going forward.
awsome. Im planning similar with my art studio which isabout the same size as your garage. One wall needs to serve as shelving for art materials, as a wall easel and as gallery space for open studio days. One end has to have painting storage racks, and the other end is my desk/office. I could also do with a folding table along that single wall for when i make stretchers and frames. Space saving is essential for me .
Great job. Great video! Wish I had watched before I just put up my French Cleat system. I look forward to you using your creativity to build cleat hanging devices for various tools.
I think this French "cleat" installation is THE best I have EVER seen. What a genius you are. Thus, I am going to build this in my shop. I NEED to know the width of the "cleats" and the width of the "stock" you used to separate the cleats; and the width of the "T side" supports. I would also appreciate the height and width of the "plywood panels". Thanks in advance John.
@@WoodshopJunkies Thank you so very much John. You are a cut above. Really! My shop is 24 ft X 36 ft and all walls will have YOUR "French cleats". And possibly "The Ultimate Garage Workshop Storage Solution" too. And you can be assured ALL credit will be given to you kind Sir. I have viewed each video of your garage over and over. I think it is awesome when compared to ALL other systems. If it goes well; I will do the same to my garage which is 24 ft X 22 ft. I know I am going to love it. And all of because of your superb teaching. Thanks again.
You gave me a idea of how i can store my fishing parts for repairs on my reels and rods instead of cluttering up my work bench with smal cabinets, thank you
Hi, As always, you find ways to do something completely different than al the rest. In the biginning I thought, man what a lot of panels, until I saw the assembling. Well done, even the cables are hidden. I am always curious to find out wich smart thing you will do next. Willy from Belgium. 🙏🙏🙏
What great video content. I used your all in one table video for inspiration on my work table and will absolutely be using this as well. I have a small shop and you really have great small shop ideas. Please keep the content coming.
I really like your attention to detail. The way you made the four parts fall in to place with the brackets on the wall was awesome. Very satisfying to see it fit together perfectly. One question though; I see the garage door was open and it seemed like there was no space left to hang anything to the cleat wall at that point. I doubt it, because you seem to think everything thru all the time.
Genius! Love the detail and thought given to each independent part that all interconnects together. I call that “pre-fab” and you’re a one man construction crew, very impressive. I recently reclaimed my small 10’x12’ basement space to create a “hobby” workshop for doing smaller projects than the larger space needed in my garage wood-shop and have chosen to do this system on the dividing wall which otherwise would have taken up valuable wall space above my wrap-around work bench. I may even make a couple of cleated stands for my small grinder, 1” belt sander and 3” scroll saw to reclaim bench workspace as well. Thanks for the insight, you’ve got skills brother 😉✌🏼

fucking brilliant. You have the uncanny knack for being attentive to details that I would only see in hindsight of finishing a project or at some midway point it would dawn on me that a change in the design initially would have made the project easier or improved some aspect of it. It's something i struggle with, being productive yet still taking time to think things through. I spend a good deal of time researching and brainstorming different ideas before choosing one and moving forward with it. There exists that fine line between overthinking simple objectives and rushing through them only to realize at or near the end something you hadn't considered before you began. This necessitates changing things to overcome obstacles you hadn't anticipated and IMO isn't representative of the type of work i want to do. Sure you could have just slabbed some pine 2x4's to the block and nailed up some peg board and called the job finished, but when you consider the versatility and adaptability of this french cleat system pegboard just can't match it. That said, your incorporating of the box handles on the organizer to act as hangers on the french cleat wall was easily the most clever bit of well thought out, functional design of any shop wall, tool, and storage solutions I've seen. Great job, your attentiveness really helps me balance out my OCD/ ADD approach to problem solving and design. Thanks for putting these videos out, they are greatly appreciated by me and by others i'm sure!

That sounds interesting! Please upload a video when it's done. I can't quite imagine a ship with french cleats but maybe it can be done. Keep us posted!
Like everyone else, a very fresh take on the french cleat wall. A couple of questions. First, so the panels are not mounted to the brick wall at all, simply held in place by the strips? Second, what width did you use for the cleats? And how far apart did you space them? Third, what is the counter sink you had on your drill, I haven't seen one like that before. Thanks! Love the creativity!
I was planning on fixing the panels to the wall through holes drilled in the backboard but after fixing the frame I noticed the assembly was very solid. I decided it wasn't necessary for more screws. My cleats are 70mm wide and have a 90mm spacing. The countersink bits cheapies I bought on Amazon. amzn.to/39KNOfO
I think you have a strange way to work but I like it. Installing french cleat before on panel and on the wall after in this way is incredible... All it's perfect... Bravissimo!!! I want to follow you and (if I can) copy your beautiful ideas... well done! P.S. sorry for my bad english :-) Micky
I very much enjoy seeing this design for the french cleat wall. I'm converting my 1 car garage to a shop and this is a fantastic idea. I would like to also see the video where you created the storage cabinet (with many small drawers). I've seen it in many of your videos but haven't yet see a video where you actually built this. Could you point me to that video ?
I really appreciate your videos and enjoy learning from you. I don’t understand why the spacers between the panels were necessary. After the installation of a panel, you then installed a thin spacer. I noticed the cleats were designed to overlay the spacers, but couldn’t you cut the cleats flush on the end and skip the spacers? I’m new to all this and mean no disrespect, I just want someone to explain the need for/function of the spacers. Many thanks!
The attention to detail and amount of planning that goes into every single project you post is amazing. I learn something new and get a ton of ideas from every single video, thank you!
