    Video was well done like others in your series. it is a little more advanced for me at this time. I am not familiar with extensions and plug-ins, other than those that came with Sketchup Pro 18. Still learning the basics of the program. Will mostly use for making things, mostly woodworking. Like the suggestions previously made about how to produce a material cut list for a cabinet build. If you have one already can you point me to it, if not , then I would add on to the suggestions in the previous comments on this video. Glad to be one of your latest Patreon supporters - keep up the good work.

      Hi Rob - this is probably the closest I have right now - th-cam.com/video/c1e11MDIy9U/w-d-xo.html , but it doesn't really give you a material list. I'll think about a video tutorial for an actual cut-list - thanks!

    Would love a comparison between this and estimator for sketchup.

    HI , NIce video. Can you make a video on automated sheet material cut list for cabinet makers? Thank you

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm...automated might get a bit tough - I think something should be possible if you organize your model properly though - will have to think about this - thanks!

    Hi! How did you apply the brick to this assembly? I have tried to apply brick many times, but haven't come up with a good solution that will accurately quantify the brick. If you can speak on rowlocks as well, that would be great! Thanks for all of the great videos.

    • @Thesketchupessentials

      Well the brick is just a texture, not individual bricks...Likely what you'd want to do is figure out a square footage then back into a brick count from there

    I can absolutely see myself using this extension. You can build an estimate of the work as you model ~ two birds with one stone.

    Hi, great video. Could you see this working for Landscape design? I’m looking for something to quantify and cost my projects. Keep up the good work

      Definitely, though I assume just like anything else, you'd have to set up your designs properly to make sure you were pulling the right quantities. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video. This extension is really useful. I second Gabis UK suggestion about a video regarding materials cut list for cabinets if you are so inclined. Cheers!

      I've gotten several requests for this - may have to think about putting something together - thanks!

      @@Thesketchupessentials I've used the Cut List extension. Still learning, but managed to pull lists into Excel, and naming components is really handy as my supplier prints out stickers on each piece. Helpful to sort and build carcases etc. It doesn't accommodate custom sizes, strangely, so I can't use it to maximize pieces on a 9' or 12' x 6' sheet only 8' x 4's. It's great and it's free, but I would pay for something a little better, especially if there was some easy way to calculate edging accurately.

    Hey Justin have you ever done a video on sketchup gcode plugins? This would help the cnc and makers groups... Btw Great tutorials.

      At the moment I haven't - CNC is an interest area for me, but I haven't gotten there yet...Thanks!

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol - happy thanksgiving to you as well! I haven't done a ton with Estimator yet, so it wouldn't really be fair for me to make a choice based on the info I have. Thanks!

      Please do not leave the same comment on multiple videos - the short answer is that you can't get this tool for free - it's a paid extension...

    How is it 2018 in this video and you are still not using a 3d mouse lol? Unreal. It must be wild how much time you lose per month from modelling without a 3d mouse.

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a weird comment to leave on multiple videos - please don't do that. Honestly, I'd rather have my other hand on the keyboard so I can use shortcuts - not using a 3D mouse is definitely NOT an indicator of slower modeling...
