Is the after market WHEEL identical to stock back spacing , etc except color and aesthetic details??? Were the tires rubbing at REAR, or was the REAR trimming insurance ?
I have to get me a bigger tire from my van because I just lift it mine and I'm looking for a bigger one and I was wondering what size tire I could put on there
Any more offset and I wouldn't be able to open sliding side door all the way because wheels would be to far out. With this size rim(16x7) that I wanted, my choices were limited. Little bit of rub could be dealt with so I opted for this rim.
Definitely will rub. My tires rubbed and they're smaller than that size. I had to trim and hammer my fenders to stop rub. Check out Tiresize.com/calculator
I think you're good with that size. Even with no offset. They will rub slightly on rear sliding door when open. Just slightly. Not an issue. But you'll need to do some trimming in the front wheel wells. You need to be aware of the rubber size you'll be mounting on those rims. Don't get crazy. It'll look mint!
No lift. I ended up installing an extra leaf spring(heavier hauling capacity) after the tires. New torsion bars and keys. The tires fit before all that after the trimming and hammering.
Bill L Mileage of your van Replaced the original stock torsion bars with gm stock or And original keys or the aftermarket ? Any idea how the original torsion bars were reviewed by technician or you when removed Did they appear “worn” ? Could you tell the difference once replaced... brand used ??? Are you familiar with the setting of the replacements in terms of number of turns or ...? Update...sold the Astro end of the summer. I have a few vids and pics I could try something with. Now have a 2011 Ram 1500. That will be my new project
Not in this video but now it is a little higher than stock. I added an extra leaf spring for more hauling capacity and new torsion bars and re-indexed keys. Will have to add video when I'm able to
@@billl2713 I bought the same black rocks u have ..today thinking of wrapping them with thunderer 235/70r16 total of 28.95mm ...I have a 03 astro I just built myself
There shouldn't be any issues. That's the same size tire as on my Astro. Thunderer looks pretty good. Those will look nice on your van. You may have to trim a little like I did. 👍
Beautifull
Hi
Any plans for additional videos ??
Really like that contemporary color
I have the pop-pop copper tan brown ... yikes
Yeah I definitely will post more. I have some footage waiting to be organized. Thanks. Sometimes a person wishes painting a vehicle was cheaper!

No it's not the same specs as OEM tires.

@@MrBluoct 3.73 ratio. I see a GT4 code

Nice
That rear front wheel well required trimming for 235 70’s 🤔
Yes. Little trimming. Also a bit of hammering flat a weld seam
it's probably the offset which is the reason

Not sure but you can always use tire size calculator. There's lots out there. Check it out they are super useful. Sorry for the late reply!
Curious to know what the offset is on those rims? I like the stance and just wondering if the offset was the reason you had to trim
Been 2 years but I believe the rims were 16x7 Blackrock Type 8 steel rims. 4" backspacing with zero offset.
Any more offset and I wouldn't be able to open sliding side door all the way because wheels would be to far out. With this size rim(16x7) that I wanted, my choices were limited. Little bit of rub could be dealt with so I opted for this rim.
Will 235/75/16 work on my stock 97 astro? No rub?? They are on sale
Definitely will rub. My tires rubbed and they're smaller than that size. I had to trim and hammer my fenders to stop rub. Check out Tiresize.com/calculator
Do you think a 16x8 rim would work? Or would this be too wide? I see some videos using the 16x8 but they used the journeys 2” lift
Thanks!

looks great! did you install those without a lift, or was the van lifted?
No lift. I ended up installing an extra leaf spring(heavier hauling capacity) after the tires. New torsion bars and keys. The tires fit before all that after the trimming and hammering.

Did you use a jigsaw with a fine metal blade for the front bumper cover, or ?
I used a grinder with a zip disc on it. Worked easily. Able to cut straight lines too.

Any update- tires or van?

What did he use to trim. I think a dull ax .
Looked like he didn't care about doing a good job at all. I should've said something.
Is van lifted?

Did you do a 6 lug conversion?
The astro van switched to the 6 lug tire in the later years. My astro was the 6 lug. No conversion

Dos the slider door work as it should
Works perfectly. There are zero issues.
