I'm 56 and through the menopause, but still have the occasional hot flush ( they don't tell you the symptoms continue afterwards! Milder and less frequent but they still hit out of nowhere). I had the same burning cheeks to the point where it felt like excruciating sunburn. I was told that the menopause had completely wrecked my skin barrier because of the hormone imbalance. The advice I was given was to not use hot water on my face, pat don't rub face, don't put moisturiser on straight after a hot shower, put SPF50 on cheeks when you go outdoors, even in the Winter (the sun is still strong enough to burn a weakened skin barrier) and to only use face products that are labelled for 'highly sensitive skin'. There are some products that will inflame a weakened skin barrier. My left cheek was worse than my right, but my face felt like I had literally got third degree burns. The range that initially helped me was all the Aveeno 'Calm and Restore'. I had it on repeat from Amazon. It really helped and I used nothing else. I stopped washing my face and just used the cleanser and toner gently on a cotton pad, (so cooling!!!) then the moisturiser and it gradually got a lot better. I then joined Beauty Pie and was able to move on to more advanced skincare which has eliminated the problem completely, but the Aveeno made all the difference to start with over 6 months - 1 year. So look for 'barrier repair' or 'for highly sensitive skin' on the label, but my advice would be to change your face routine completely and start using the Aveeno Calm and Restore. Hope that helps, Lauren. You're doing fab and I really admire the fact that you're embracing your changes and making them work for you and helping other people in the process. X
I've ben following you on here for a long time Lauren and you're a joy to watch! Thanks for the advice on periods - like you the hormones are like a slap in the face sometimes x
So nice to see you show up on TH-cam! I binge watched all your videos when I was freshman in high school and would try to recreate the looks. You taught me my baseline makeup knowledge ♥️
Hi Lauren ❤ do you mind me asking what age you are?! I was experiencing some weird periods there for a while, I’m 36 and they were just too much so I’ve got the coil fitted. The women in my family go through the change early, so I would love to know your symptoms so I can look out for them xxx
