  • In this episode I describe how to thread my sewing machine. Y'all asked for it, so I am doing a mini-series about my machine.

    Perfect instructions!! Thanks very much!! I'm making bike bags and I've just inherited this machine. Just seen your shorts and I'm already thinking of what to do next. Good luck with the channel.

      i want to see your bike bags! i'm not sure if i'm going to continue the channel, actually. for every comment like yours, there are 5 creeps, and i've had enough of that. a while ago my husband suggested i play into it because views are views, hence all the butt jokes in the shorts videos, but honestly i just don't like it. i'm going to keep sewing, but don't expect more videos any time soon.

      @@alocalsewandsew It's very very sad that creeps could gate keep you from it. I suppose privilege is realising I've never had to go through that. I'd say stick with it, as long as you feel comfortable! There is so much space for people who know what they are doing on this platform, to reach and teach others. Good luck whatever happens! And cheers again.

    Thanks for this. I am getting this machine hopefully this week.
    Also, you only have to hold the threads at the beginning when you start to sew, otherwise you run the risk of having the lower thread sucked back under the plate. They will stay put once a few stitches are in place and you won’t have to hold onto them.

      yes, i just hold onto them until i hold onto something else, i should have specified.

    My spouse bought several used Viking machines for me to decide what to keep to replace my very old and well loved Viking 6370 and an old Viking 960 (which was so quiet!) Anyway, I don't know how old a Freesia 425 is and wondering if it's still too old for using for the next couple of years. I just do some garments and things for around the house. Thanks for doing these videos.

      i bought mine used in 2013, as long as it still runs well it's not too old. some of the other youtubers i follow are literally using machines from over 100 years ago.

      @@alocalsewandsew My old machines that I mentioned have actually bit the dust. No one will service them at all. They say the mechanical Vikings are brittle and cannot guarantee anything once they take it apart because they've had so many parts crumble. Thanks for your input! much appreciated!

      @@lisatennant3131 plastic machines are more brittle, yes.

    thank you!! i have the 425. is there a specific type of bobbin for it? the ones i bought from the store seem to not fit

    • @alocalsewandsew
      @alocalsewandsew  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, Viking machines only accept Viking bobbins and unfortunately they make more than one kind. The 415 and 425 are type 6. they're slightly domed on both sides and have a square hole and the Husqvarna H.

      it's not an air machine, there's nothing special about the foot. just push down on it to make the machine go.
