It's not entirely blind and can still see some light it's a pretty common case also they say it really hurts to see even a little bit of light that's why they used sun glasses, but some just use it cause they don't like people looking at they're eyes

To clarify: It's not that it hears you. To explain, the beast has night vision, but it is nearly blind. When a sound is heard, its vision increases temporarily. Thunderstorms allow it to see extremely far.
I think it still hears you since it reacts to sounds even though its inside a house (which it cant see through). Thunderstorms help muffle the sounds made by players . I agree with the vision part tho.
