Vaka Motu Fishing Trial

For six weeks, the crew of Okeanos Messenger worked with local fishermen in Tarawa, Kiribati. The fossil fuel-free Vaka Motu served as a mothership where the fishermen could store their catch in iced coolers, travel 10 miles farther to look for new fishing grounds, and maximize their time at sea by 300%.

If they were using sail powered fishing vaka, teamed with a mothership base, the potential added range would be indefinite without any need for greenhouse gas emitting fossil fuels. Imagine that - it would be like going back to our tipuna.
