Ballintoy Wildcamp | Causeway Coast Way | August 2024 |

I solo camped at Ballintoy, after hiking the Causeway Coast Way from Portballintrae. It was meant to be a pilgrimage or sorts to help process things in my head and heart, but it also turned out to be a bit more of an adventure than I had anticipated, from nearly getting pinned on the rocks by the incoming tide, then forced by the tide to camp at a spot I hadn't planned, then realising I had forgotten my stove, having to cold soak my food for the first time, and then just as the sun went down, realising I did not have my tent poles, and that they had probably got washed out to sea 🙈

I did this a couple of weeks ago with my dog. Loved it. Absolutely beautiful dander.... dander? 🤣 We found a way to avoid the high tide and at the beach before Ballintoy, where to get over and past the corner. It's in my videos.

I will have to check out your video. I knew the tide could be an issue and had checked the times, but just forgot the lay of the land and was in a bit of a mental crisis at the time, so not thinking very clearly 🙈

A lovely location. A group of us were there in August. Hopefully you came out the other end a better man for it despite the difficulties.

The practical difficulties were almost a nice distraction from the mental and emotional difficulties...which are still ongoing...think the practical things are less complex 🙄
